Ari woke up in her dorm room, after falling off of her bed. Though she never paid much mind to it, she was a violent sleeper. At night, she could stay still for her first few hours of sleep, but later she typically began thrashing around. By morning she was on the floor. It happened every time, so she didn’t seem to care too much as she stood up, still clad in her Captain America pajamas.
Ari reached under her bed and grabbed her head phones and iPod along with a pack of Oreo cookies. Yep, this was her morning, everyday. Get up off the floor, listen to some Linkin Park or CTE and stuff her face with Oreo cookies. At least for her first few minutes of waking up, then she’d clean up a bit and head to the gyn to work out a bit. She was having a lazy morning though, mostly because a lot of thoughts were swimming around her head. Her gangs last school had a lot of trouble due to their shenanigans, but this school was obviously much tougher, so they’d likely be able to stand for much more. In the mean time it’d only make sense for them to work on getting stronger, and get in all the fights she possibly could. Yeah, she was gonna stir up some trouble, and if she got beaten to a pulp, that was fine too.
After all, a phoenix first has to burn before it can rise from its ashes right? At least that’s how Ari thought it went. Either way, she wasn’t too concerned with making a few trips to the infirmary, and wasn’t concerned in the slightest about sending others their instead. It almost seemed as though Ari lacked the ability to feel anything but anger or irritation towards others. Occasionally she’d enjoy people’s company, like Rei and Lucia, but she never truly felt love or care for anyone. She could probably watch a child be beaten bloody and not bat a lash.
Ari brushed her teeth and washed her face, before changing out of her pajamas and into something she could work out in a bit better, a black tank top, and some black sport shorts with red stripes down the sides. The only thing she neglected to do was brush her hair, but it was short and would probably get all messed up once she started exercising anyway. Ari was fairly quick, but was rather lacking in the strength department, unlike her fellow gang member Rei who could punch like a champ. She needed muscle up, so that her hits would actually do something to the beasts in this school.
The short haired girl skipped out into the hall way clad in her head phones and sang along with her music, not giving a damn if she was bugging anyone else around her. She wasn’t a bad singer, but she sang loud, and her music was usually either really morbid, had quite a bit of swearing, or both. Regardless, the girl sang and even danced a little bit on her way out of the building. She eventually made her way to the gym. Typically, she’d make her way to the treadmill ‘cause the last few weeks she’d been trying to build up her endurance. Speed seemed to come with time, but it wouldn't do her much good if the longest she could run was five minutes. In any case, the girl waltzed into the building, carelessly bumping into others as she made her way to the dumbbells. They seemed to have a fancy kind where you could adjust it’s weight to your liking. Cool, so maybe she should start with not a ton of weight and just repetition? As far as she new, benching huge amounts of weight gave you bulk, and while she wanted to get stronger, she definitely didn’t want to become Arnold schwarzenegger either, no-o-o sir.
Of course, while having a bunch of muscle would be pretty beast, it would look pretty freaky on a teenage girl. (That, and it would take a hell of a lot of work to get that much anyway, and she had been kind of lazy the past week.) Ari adjusted the dumbbells the a moderate weight and began doing reps on each arm while lop syncing the lyrics Johnny Ringo and squirming around a bit to the beat of the music. (It was freaking hard to dance while lifting weights okay?)
At about forty her arms started to get a bit achey, but she pushed her self on, and kept dancing around more and more as her playlist went by. By the time she got to eighty, Ari was more dancing than doing reps, and practically span around with the weights in her hands causing her to build up momentum. After a moment, she lost her balance and swerved to the left, smacking a dude in the side of the head with the weight. He went sprawling onto the floor. You see, Ari wasn’t very tall, but she had managed to hit this guy’s head because he had bent over to pick something up. As soon as he stood up to his full height, he towered over her and and looked pretty damn mad. Even so, Ari had a hard time keeping herself from sniggering at his pain. A bruise formed on his head, fortunately for him, Ari hadn’t struck anywhere that’d cause a black out. That was rather unfortunate for Ari however.
“Imma mess you up buddeh,” he snapped and started towards the girl. Well, Ari wasn’t stupid, this guy could hammer her. So she knew the smart thing would be to apologize or run away, but she decided not to do the smart thing ‘cause sometimes that was just boring. Ari threw one of her dumbbells at his crotch and then while he froze from the pain brought to his manhood, she jumped and slammed her other weight into his temple. The man blacked out and fell limp on the floor. Ari walked over to where she had gotten her dumbbell and added more weight to the one she still held, to where it was about thirty pounds. She attempted to do a few reps with it, but it was rather heavy. It would do. Ari walked over and stood in front of the unconscious man, holding the dumbbell over him. Luckily not many people were around, so they probably wouldn’t see this. Ari dropped the weight so that it fell directly on the mans stomach, then picked it up, and was about to drop it on the man’s head, when someone came and put a hand on her shoulder. Great… she would have to answer to them. It would be easier to just knock them out too, right? Ari whirled around, but the weight slowed her down considerably, so the person who confronted her was able to step out of the way. It was a blonde haired clad in a pale green dress, a brown cardigan and a large pair of glasses.
“W-what are you doing to that man?” she asked, wide-eyed.
“It’s self defense, don’t worry about it,” Ari waved a hand at her as if dismissing her. That was kind of the truth and kind of a lie.
“You tried to hit me too though!”
“Well, I thought you might have been one of his buddies.”
“H-he’s unconscious now, I don’t think there’s any reason to h-hit him an l-longer. He n-needs some medical attention.”
“Bitch, the only attention he needs is my fist in his face, okay? What’s with you, you don’t even know they guy? Why do you care if I rough him up a bit?”
“Well excuse me for having compassion on my fellow human being,” the woman swallowed, “B-besides, what you’re doing is cowardly, he c-can’t fight back!”
Ari dropped the dumbbell and swung a punch at the woman’s face, only to retract her fist before it could actually touch her. The woman shrank in fear, holding up her arms to cover her face, and let out a small yelp.
“You’re calling me a coward? Look at you. Ridiculous.”
Ari was quiet a moment and let out a sigh. The woman was kind of right, it didn’t take much skill to wail on anyone while they’re on the ground and incapable of defending themselves. Even she felt like the man deserved it. By now, she had completely forgotten that the man had originally threatened her due to being hit first. In Ari’s head, she was just minding her own business when this guy decided to come and pick a fight with her. He’d gotten what he deserved right? Plus a bit more. Always plus. It was never enough for her to get a knock out or for someone to yield. It didn’t feel quite complete without a teensy little bit of blood, or at least some noises indicating pain.
“I guess I get where you’re coming from lady,” Ari admitted, “It is kinda lame to hit someone while they’re down… “
She couldn't bring her self to say a simple apology however. The girl rarely apologized for anything unless she was putting up a false show of friendliness to win someone’s trust. She had no interest in having a good reputation in this woman’s eyes, it wouldn’t do anything for her. That, and the lady had no ties with anyone she knew, so word wouldn’t get around hopefully. She didn’t look like the type, but you can never tell how prone to gossiping a person can be just by looking at them.
Surprisingly enough, the lady bought into Ari’s story of simply defending herself, and was off the hook. After maybe fifteen more minutes of weight lifting, the girl opted for a good twenty minutes on the tread mill, wailed on a punching bag a little bit, and then decided to call it a day. Ari headed out of the gym, and swung by a cafe before heading back to her dorm to wash up. Psssh, she didn’t care if people saw her as a big sweaty mess, if they had anything to say about it she’d whip her sweat covered hair at them and get them a showah. (She didn’t have nearly enough sweat in her hair to do this, but she imagined she did.) The girl purchased an iced coffee and about ten sugar cookies before making her way out of the building. So far, it was a pretty good Saturday, she just wished she could’ve hit that guy just one more time… It was hard to explain why she felt that way, but regardless, that’s the way it was. As she walked along the side walk sipping her drink and holding tight to her bag of sugar cookies, she saw the perfect opportunity for a laugh. Some weird guy appeared to be going dumpster diving, and had his butt hanging out of the dumpster as he reached inside. Ari slurped her drink and kicked the guy’s rear, causing him to lose his balance and fall into the see of trash. What a sucker.
On her way home, stretched her arms out a bit, hoping that maybe the workout she’d done today would do her some good. She knew very well that doing something like this just once wouldn’t be enough to bulk her up in the long run, she’d have to make this exercise a daily routine if she wanted to get better. It was just like honing a skill, the more you practice, the better you get. Her little sister had always told, “Practice makes perfect, so be careful what you practice.”
It was kind of ironic really. The little girl had no idea what lengths Ari went to for her sake. She stole from and hurt people on a daily basis for her, and got pretty good at it. Honestly though, the people she ran into back in her days on the street seemed like a bunch of pansies compared to some of the people she heard about around the school. The school captain guy sounded like a freaking beast, and the pillars sounded pretty powerful as well. While the girl had no interest in their positions, she had a natural tendency to want to challenge authority, so she couldn't help but day dream about beating them up one day. She knew that kind of ambition was pretty far off though. As she improved, they would as well. In the long run, they’d likely be an unattainable goal. It was a sad thought to her, but she held it to be true nonetheless. Finally reaching her dorm, the girl would finish the last of her drink and head off to the bathroom to take a shower.
