Vivi turned and gave the boy an odd look, her violet eyes seeming to pierce into his. So he was one of those guys... regardless of whether or not she'd actually be able to help him if things got tough, ditching people wasn't really her thing. And if he was the chivalrous type, if she was the one getting caught he'd probably stick around to help too, right? Thus, she didn't promise, and didn't really answer at all.
She followed him to the window, taking quiet steps, and peered out at the city, trying spot the alley he spoke of. His plan was sound for now, they'd have to make adjustments as things went on, but for now she had no qualms.
"Alright, let's do this," Vivi nodded, and waited for him to climb out the window, before following. When they'd make their way across the alley, Vivi glanced around for a means of getting on the roof. There was a fire escape a ways ahead of them, but it looked like it might be a bit rickety. If they could climb up without making too much noise, they'd likely have a good vantage point.
Vivi pointed to the fire escape, with a questioning expression. She didn't dare to speak... so this was her way of asking if they should take it. If he agreed, she would start up the metal stairs.

... Scary stare. was all he could think as the girl's eyes gave that piercing glare. Maybe she wasn't very fond of the "Vivi leaves Valo behind" arc. In any case, he just hoped things didn't have to get to the point of either of them ditching the other.
As they moved across the street, he was just worried that more of those guys would show up. They were in the distance, but weren't close enough to spot the two moving teenagers under the cover of darkness. Upon reaching the alleyway, Valo would let out a sigh of relief as they proceeded inwards.
"Oh man..." he said quietly, witnessing the state of the fire escape. It really would be a loud climb if they weren't careful, and the girl's expression seemed to reflect that. Taking a moment to think, Valo would look at between her and the distance to the entrance of the alley. Even if she made a lot of noise, she could get up in time, and maybe even him.
"Alright... you go first. Slowly. And I'll keep an eye out at the entrance to make sure we're safe. Sound good?"
He would speak quietly, practically in her ear. If she was fine with it, he'd hide behind some boxes near the front of the alley, keeping both an eye and an ear out. Anything could happen, and he didn't want to allow them to be compromised.

Vivi listened to him as he whispered, trying not to shiver. It always gave her chills when people spoke that close to her ear.
“Yeah,” she’d whisper in response.
When he headed off to take cover, Vivi started up the fire escape, keeping her steps slow and light. Any sudden shifts in her weight would probably make some awful noise, but regardless, the slow pace was almost painful to uphold. When avoiding being caught by her pursuer, her natural reaction was to do things fast.
After what seemed like forever, she arrived at the top of the stairs, and proceeded to climb a ladder that wasn’t much sturdier. Pulling herself onto the top, she looked out over the edge, scanning for the barricade. Her gaze eventually fell on a bridge leading out of their current part of the city, and though it was difficult to see very well in the darkness, she made out what she was pretty certain could be a barricade.

As the girl made her way up, Valo continued to watch the entrance, looking up and down the street thoroughly. No one was coming by, and that was good. In the distance, he could hear men shouting and trucks moving. It seemed they were really searching every nook and cranny for the two of them, or maybe just anyone left. He wasn't sure who the real targets were.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard glass shattering, and he looked across the street to see some more soldiers coming out of the bar they were just in. Close call... he thought, but was panicking when he saw they were getting closer. Putting his back up against the wall, he would reach over and grab whatever he could, finding a glass bottle. Ducking down low, he would toss it over him across the street, landing it far enough away so that the noise would distract the soldiers.
Once they began their move, Valo would sneak over to the ladder and begin to climb it slowly as well now that the girl was on the top. It was excruciating how long it took doing things quietly, but he didn't want to risk them getting caught. Not now. After what seemed like hours, he finally reached the top, and sighed in relief as he climbed up and stood to his feet, joining the girl. Looking in the same direction, he also noticed the bridge. There seemed to be a lot going on in that direction... and being up this high, he could now see they had helicopters too. Perfect...
"I guess that's where we need to go... but it's not going to be easy."
There were several buildings in the way between them and the bridge, although the buildings were mostly smaller. It looked like a good mile away.

Vivi nodded with a wry smile.
“Yeah… let’s try traveling across the roofs, it might be faster. If we come to a gap that’s too big we’ll have to go back to the streets, though.”
The helicopters would definitely be an issue, but she had a feeling that regardless of whether or not they got moving, they still ran the risk of getting spotted. The most they could do was head for the barricade, and hope for the best.
The first roof was a bit lower than the one they were on currently, so it wasn’t to difficult. Vivi took a running start and jumped across, breaking her fall with a forward roll. If Valo came with her, she’d proceed to jump onto the next one, if not, she’d stop and listen to what he had to say.

Maybe we'll be lucky enough to get out of here without any worry... or maybe that's just wishful thinking. @tag Valo nodded at the girl's suggestion, noting that they'd likely run into little trouble up here, at least in terms of the foot soldiers.
The girl went first, and Valo watched as she ran and leaped across with probably more ease than she realized. He was impressed. He would back up as well, getting the same running start before jumping at the edge, sailing through the air and rolling as he hit the ground as to avoid hurting something.
"Easy enough." He said as he got up, dusting himself off. One roof down, many more to go. He was about to move towards the end of the building when he heard a loud whirling sound, and he looked up to see a helicopter fast approaching. In moments, the spotlight on the helicopter would shine down upon the two of them, and the helicopter would have its side facing them as a door would open and a soldier was visible. In his hands was a sniper rifle, and in one sudden motion, a shot rang out and Valo grimaced in pain as he stumbled backwards.
Looking where he was shot, he saw what looked like a dart sticking out of his shoulder. Gritting his teeth, he would pull it out and throw it to the ground before motioning to the girl.
"Damn it... Run! Now!"
He would run towards the other building, leaping across and trying to continue towards the barricade. He only hoped the girl would be safe, but he was starting to feel a little dizzy...

The moment Vivi saw the light, she ran. She couldn't let it discombobulate her and stare up at it, that was asking to get shot. She skidded to a stop upon hearing a shot ring through the night, and glanced over her shoulder in time to see the boy rip a dart from his shoulder. It likely had some kind of sedative... they needed to find a place to hide before he lost consciousness or they'd be screwed.
When he told her to run, she did as he said, though she slowed her pace a little to make sure he was keeping with her. The two of them leaped onto one more roof top, and this one had a door. She ran to it and tried the door knob. It was locked as she’d expected so she slammed her foot into it. The door creaked on it’s hinges slightly, but didn’t give way like she’d hoped. They might just have to take another fire escape back down.
Looking back at the boy, she noted his moves becoming less and less precise… she wasn’t about to run off without him like a coward. This was more an issue of pride, than chivalry, really.
“We should get back to the streets and find a place to hide,” Vivi ran close enough to him so that he could hear her, “You won’t be able to walk for much longer.”

(OOC: Vivi Perish I finally posted, sorry that took so long, man. ;_; Finally getting some muse back, slowly. Hopefully we can get this goingggg.) Taking a moment to stop as the girl tried the door, Valo would look back and see the chopper fast approaching. Crap. He thought, looking back at her and noticing the door was budging, but not enough. She weakened it, but one final push oughta do the trick. "Here, let me try..." He spoke, his head spinning a bit. If she moved out of the way, he would kick at the door with all the strength he could muster. While it wouldn't go flying off of its hinges, it would slam open enough for them to get inside, and that's what Valo would do. He'd enter, getting inside the building and away from the searchlight of the chopper as he fell to the ground just inside of the door, crawling up against the wall and leaning against it. Taking a look around, there was a single staircase headed down into the building, he only hoped that there was some place that she could hide. "You still have a chance to get out of here, you know..." He said, his eyes closed as he leaned his head back against the wall. "I'm just going to end up as dead weight to you at this rate."

(ooc: Don’t sweat it, dear~ )
When a kid who’s delirious from a tranquilizer shot has more success kicking a door down than you, it doesn’t feel too great. Then again, though the boy wasn’t that much taller than her, he was defiantly stronger. Pride stuff aside, Vivi was glad the door was open.
The girl slipped inside and listened to the boys words, before shaking her head adamantly. “Shut up. You’re coming with me.”
Vivi came next to him and slung one of his arms around her shoulders, and wrapped her other arm around his waist. From there, she stood up and began walking down the stairs, probably half dragging him at this point. Granted, she was small, but she sturdy and fairly strong. However, what sealed the deal was how stubborn she was. As far as she knew, the kid was coming with her even if she had to carry him on her back. Were actions poorly thought out? Yeah. Did she care? Nope.

Valo looked at the girl in disbelief as she refused to leave him behiind, hoisting his arm over her shoulder as she decided to support him instead. Why? She had a chance to escape, so why would she risk herself?
"Don't be stupid... you still have a chance to get out of here. If you worry about me, neither of us are getting out..."
Despite wanting her to save herself, he couldn't help but feel grateful too. In a way, he was glad that she stayed. It took a lot of courage to help someone, even if it seemed impossible. With all of the soldiers around, it was hard enough to escape by yourself, but she had to deal with him the way he was. He felt weak... but if the time came, he'd make it up to her. He promised himself that much.
He did his best to move as she supported him, trying hard to retain use of his own legs so she didn't have to drag him. With the way everything was spinning, he was sure that there was no way he would've made it down these stairs like this on his own.
"My name... it's Adrian... but everyone calls me Valo." He thought it was about time to exchange names. Even if the situation they were in was bad, they had bumped into each other on many occasions before. He wasn't sure why he went so far as to tell her his real name, but he felt he could trust her. Maybe in the worst case scenario, if something happened to him, he felt like he wanted to be remembered somewhat. "Call me whatever you like... but I just want to say thank you. For this." “I heard you the first time you told me,” Vivi whispered in reply, continuing down the stairs. He was pretty heavy, but being the strong willed girl she was, Vivi wasn’t about to let that stop her. Her breathes came out a little heavy, but she continued on. When the boy spoke, she raised her eye brows a bit, though it would be difficult to see in the darkness.
“It’s nothing, Adrian,” she replied, “Think of it this way—I’d feel like shit if I left you out there, so I’m just being selfish in the long run.”
Vivi knew that was straight up lie. She had quite a bit of concern for the well-being of others, but didn’t want that to be common knowledge, so she thought up a selfish motive to cover up whenever she could.
“I’m Vivian… or Vivi, whichever you prefer.”
The two of them arrived on the first floor, and Vivi glanced around for an exit. She paused for a moment however, to check up on Valo.
“Can you walk anymore? We might just have to hide in here.”

Heh. Is that really it?
He wasn't going to push it. Selfish or not, she was helping him. She was quite something, as he figured her to just drop him if it meant she could get out. But even back at the bar, she had remained quiet instead of ratting him out, even winking to reassure him that he was safe. Now, in this crisis they both endured, he was relying on her more than she was on him. It was the opposite of what he had in mind from the start.
As she decided to stick with Adrian, it hit a soft note with him. Almost no one else called him that, and it was a name he tried to leave behind, albeit unsuccessfully. Now Vivi was using it, but he didn't mind. He didn't have the strength to oppose it anyway.
"Vivian... that's a nice name." He said as they arrived on the first floor. As she stopped to check up on him, he did his best to act tough. "I'm okay... thank you, Vivi--.." His legs buckled underneath him, and he slipped from her shoulder as he fell towards the ground. If Vivi didn't catch him, he'd land on his hands and knees. Either way, he'd speak.
"...Or maybe I'm not... are you still sure you want... to help me?" He said weakly, unable to hide the fact that he was just becoming dead weight by this point. As the helicopters could be heard from inside, and the sound of driving and shouting was in the distance, he figured there was no way out of this. WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

When he stumbled forward, Vivi did her best to catch him and ease him to the ground. He obviously couldn’t function properly anymore, and who knew how much longer he’d stay conscious? At this point, it’d probably be best for them to hide. If they went out into the streets they’d almost definitely be spotted.
…So much for getting to that barricade.
“Damn right I am. We’ll just crouch here for now, even if I took off without you I’d probably be caught. Sometimes you just gotta know when you’re screwed,” Vivi glanced around the building once before crouching next to him and speaking quieter, “We may just have to hide and hope they don’t find us.”

"... Heh..."
Screwed, huh? He couldn't help but feel horrible about all of this, and it wasn't just the sedative making its way into his system. Vivi was in danger, and as far as he knew, it was all because these men were after him. Yet she was so selfless to the point she was willing to stay by his side, even if it meant she could get captured too.
"... We've got no... choice then... you should hide. I can... get them away from you."
He struggled to get to his feet, stumbling and slowly making his way towards the door. If they really only wanted him, then they'd give up their search when he turned himself in. From there, Vivi could get out and get to safety. WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

“If I remember correctly, you’re the one they’re after, not me. That and you can barely walk, if anyone should be doing some distracting, it’s me,” Vivi said firmly.
She went after him as he headed towards the door, and grabbed one of his arms, attempting to drag him away from the door towards a stack of boxes. She couldn’t see very well in the darkness, but there were plenty of places to hide, and the shadows provided some cover. If she could just get him to hide…
If he allowed her to drag him behind the boxes she’d shove him to the floor and crouch next to him.
“Sit your ass down,” she whispered, “You need to think about this. I'm not one hundred percent sure, but for now I don’t think I’m one of their targets. You're the target, you hide.”
