Cedric was waiting around in the courtyard waiting for Ruby to show up. He had left a note in what he was pretty sure was her locker asking her for another round of sparring, just with different scenery this time

Ruby got the letter in her locker, and upon reading it she'd head out to the courtyard to meet up with Cedric. "Hiya!" She'd say upon approaching him. "So... did you want to fight again?" She'd ask him.

Cedric smiled "Yeah, I could use a sparring partner that's around my level and you're one of the only people I know in this place so I figured you would be a good partner"

Cedric Shrugged as he took up a stance "guess I will" he said before rushing forward leading with his shoulder using his weight to try to knock her off balance.

Ruby would watch as he charged at her, and she would jump to the side to dodge being knocked over, but use her leg to kick outward and hopefully trip him, using the momentum from when he'd been running against him and making it harder for him to avoid being tripped.

Cedric felt Ruby trip him and immediately realized his folly, however instead of trying to fight it he actually pushed off the ground propelling himself forwards and rolled. He then near immediately sprung up and faced Ruby with his gurad up

Ruby would grin as he tripped but managed to catch himself by rolling and getting up quickly again. She'd use the moment that he was still rolling to run up to him, so that the second he was up again, she'd knee him in the side and try to knock him down again.

As Cedric was in the process of turning he got caught with a knee which hurt like a bitch, but he manged to keep it together enough to reach his arm down to try to capture her leg

Ruby would see what Cedric was doing and try to pull away so as to avoid him getting a grip on her leg and losing balance. She wanted to avoid that, so she'd pull away and take a few steps back... that was, if he didn't act faster than her.

Cedric missed the grab barely missed. However he wasn't going to let up on the assault and lunged forward stopping short of Ruby and launched and open palm strike towards her solar plexus.

Ruby would move both of her hands to catch the blow from Cedric, taking the impact to her palms rather than the attended place. She would try to knee him in the chest with as much force as she could manage.

Cedric saw the knee coming just before it connected, he made no effort block or dodge to blow but rather he moved his arm that was reaching forwards down and his hand that was pulled back forward to put them in prime position to capture her knee once she connected. When the blow connected it nearly stunned him, but despite that he still clamped down in an effort to catch her leg so the damage wasn't for nothing.

Ruby mentally scolded herself when he caught her leg. "Man... I need to come up with a better solution. Every time I kick him with my knee or leg, I usually get caught and am extremely vulnerable... yet, I don't really know what other way to hit him. Goodness, I really need to come up with a new battle plan," she thought, trying to pull her leg away and break free from his grasp.

Cedric tightened his grasp on Rubs leg so that she didn't simply yank free, however if he simply tried to hang on it was inevitable that she would just shake him off. Cedric quickly laid his back against he ground while wrapping his legs around Ruby's leg that he was holding and adjusting his grip to try to put her in an Achilles hold which if successful would stretch the Achilles tendon causing pain but no form of permanent damage.
