A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

"After years of practice I can predict what loop you will choose. Thus I will use psychology, to ensure that you lose. So steel your eyes and gird your mind, prepare your best excuse. Now you're ready to play a game named by the ages...Fast & Loose."It was a good day for a game. The sun was shining, temperatures in the high 60s, without the usual fog in the mornings of San Francisco. It was early at #552 and classes had not yet started. Students and staff were mingling in the outdoor areas, some laughing, some squaring off for fights, some prepping for tests. Ozzie though was preoccupied with another kind of test, a test of skill and thought. He had set a small table near one of the school walls, upon which he had a long loop of dogtag-style chain. He had a modest crowd of a few students around him, watching him with careful eyes. The game was simple: he would fold the length of chain into a figure-eight pattern, then ask one of the people gathered to place their finger in one of the loops. He would then pull the chain from one end and if the loop held 'fast', the person won the bet. If the loop slid away and was 'loose', then the person lost. Very simple, very easy to get into. The thing was, only Ozzie knew the truth. And the truth...was that the game was rigged. If he folded the chain one way, the game was fair and one loop would hold, meaning there could be a winner. But with a nearly invisible change of hand placement, the figure-eight became false and neither loop would hold, meaning Ozzie would win every time. So far no one had realized the con and the blonde man was steadily pulling in a nice pile of bills, probably close to a hundred at this point. He allowed his targets to win a few times, expertly placing the chain, but just as they got rolling and betting high, he would switch the loops and cut them off, making them want to win back what they'd lost. Ozzie didn't fear anyone catching on. This type of con was ancient and hadn't been used regularly since at least the 50's. No one would get it without a seriously keen eye... Xaier entered the school stretching and releasing a massive yawn. He had nearly pulled an all nighter, working his body to the core and he was paying for it. On top of being exhausted, his body was sore as hell. But he ultimately rolled out of bed for the day, ready to face whatever challenges came.
As he began to move down the hall, those emerald hues would fixate upon a kid behind a table, near the wall. Xaier scratched at his head as he casually strolled over to observe the 'game' being played. Now, Xaier was a little skeptical about this whole set up, but he wouldn't comment on it. Instead as he approached, he would smile and look to try his hand at it. "What's going on here? Looks interesting."

A new challenger approaches!
Ozzie grinned as the man approached. He didn't give off the air of someone quite as gullible as the ones that he'd already been hustling, but that didn't deter the con man. Clearing off the stray bills of ones and fives, Ozzie looped the chain into the legitimate figure eight - the version that could actually win - and invited the light-haired man to the table.
"Just a little game of chance and skill. Fast & Loose is the name and the rules are simple. All you have to do is place a finger on the table inside one of the loops. I then pull the chain away and if the loop you picked wraps around your finger and holds 'fast', you win. If it slips away and doesn't catch, 'loose', then you lose. 50/50 chance."
Ozzie waved a hand over the table, showing he didn't have any hidden wires or catches, showing his short sleeves with nothing stashed away. "First bet is $5. Care to give it a try...?
From Xaier's perspective, if he chose the loop on his right, he'd win. If you chose left, he'd lose. But whether he won or not wasn't the point. This was just to get him going, reel in the fish, before triggering the trap.

"Aww yeah, prepare to pay up!" Xaier chuckled as he pulled out his wallet. He had a little money to screw around with, so why not right? Besides, if he played his cards right he would have even more cash to splurge. His hands would lift to grasp the sun-glasses he wore and place them on top of his brow, allow those emerald hues to examine the string for a moment. His right hand extended along with his index finger and he began to shift between the left and right side, until he placed it down in the loop on the right side. "Right tighty, lefty loosy, yeah?"
To be honest, it was a complete guess. He had never seen this game in action before and the idea that he might get cheated wasn't even on his mind. Maybe that was just his faith in the goodness of others. It tended to bite him in the ass in NYC, but this wasn't his old #552.

Ozzie's grin never left his face. With a deft pull, he tugged on the chain until the loop had tightened around Xaier's fingertip. He had a winner, but then the blond already knew that would happen. All good, still time to pull the fish in.
"Winner-winner chicken dinner! Good instincts there friend."
Ozzie pulled a fiver off his pile of bills and handed it to the man. He spoke as he reset the loops of the chain, keeping Xaier's mind occupied on the conversation rather the movements of his hands.
"You've got a powerful aura there, must be somebody important 'round here. what's your name, if I can ask? Mine's Ozzie."
The chain was looped and reset as Ozzie finished asking his question. This time though he had set the trick loops that couldn't win. Time to start building the betting addiction. "Also, wanna up the stakes this time? You've got $10 now, how about we bet $10 each?"

"Important? Not yet. Soon though." His words had sounded confident. He had more motivation that before to propel himself to the top. It would still take time, but he was growing stronger by the day. Shifting his mind back to the task at hand, he accepted the five dollar bill, before nodded in agreement to Ozzie's request to continue. Clearly the kid wanted his cash back, but that so was not going to happen!
"Nice to meet you, Ozzie. But I hope you're ready to lose all that money!" He exclaimed as he dropped the money befote again lowering his finger to the table, in the right loop a second time. His other arm folded at his waist, knuckles at his side and chin lifted. Victory was clearly his again!

Without cracking his charming grin, Ozzie used the same deft pull and easily slid the chain off the table, the loop never even threatening to become tight around Xaier's hand. Twirling the newly freed chain around his hand, Ozzie said matter-of-factly, "Tough break friend, looks like Lady Luck was with me this time."
Ozzie scooped up the bills, having now gotten his money back and then some. This Xaier character seemed too good to be true. He freaking posed as he guessed, clearly confident beyond belief. His mind churned with possible machinations. He wanted to pounce on this opportunity and he was fighting the urge to go for broke right off the bat.
Ozzie quickly looped up the chain again, laying it down flat on the table. This time it was the legitimate loop with an actual chance to win. He placed it so the loop on Xaier's left was the winning side. Now would come the hard part...convincing Xaier to choose that side, forcing the win. One more winning round should be enough to set the trap for the final, big push.
"That's one win, one loss. Want to get a winning percentage and try again? We'll keep the bet the same, $10." Ozzie would subtly keep his one hand near the right-side losing loop, but casting his gaze toward the winning left side. If Xaier was the type Ozzie hoped, he'd be reading Ozzie's face for any possible tells, like a poker player. And Ozzie would be feeding him exactly what he wanted.

H-huh!? DAMN IT.. One more time..[/i] Xaier let out a sigh and pulled his wallet out again, before grabbing a ten dollar bill again and putting it on the table. "I'm not through yet! Just a little miscalculation. I got this." This time Xaier would indeed glance toward Ozzie after watching him reset the chain. He would study him briefly before looking down at the chain. Either Ozzie had accidently revealed the winning side OR he was hoping Xaier would pick up on it and choose the opposite side.
His eyes would narrow for a second, his hand circling around the chain before he ultimately dropped it into the loop on his left side. This time he wasn't so confident in his choice. But he suppose he would have to see the results.

Like a well choreographed play, Xaier played into Ozzie's hands and chose the winning loop. Ozzie pulled on the chain, slower than before, to really accentuate the anxiety of whether it'd be a win or not. At long last the loop held fast, making Xaier the winner. Ozzie clicked his teeth, put his best 'aw shucks!' look on his face, and said, "Dammit! Luck can't decide who to stay with, huh?"
He handed the money over to Xaier, to the delight of the crowd, but as he did, he gave the man a quick look up and down, as if sizing him up. After handing over the cash, Ozzie said in an easy voice, "You seem like the type who likes beating the odds. I'll tell you what...wanna play for something a bit more than cash...?"
This was it. Time to see if the fish took the bait.

Leon had been watching... Carefully, both of these people seemed funny, interesting, and normal. Perfect for thrashing. Today Leon would make a new statement. He'd step forward and walk over to the spectacle and watch close up.
Leon would put a hand on the table, and stare at them both. waiting to see what the new price was.

"Something more than cash, huh? Trying to barter for me soul?" Xaier would let out a chuckle. So far, he was breaking even here. His curiosity wouldn't simply let him cut the fun yet and walk away. Instead, he would nod in agreement.
Xaier would catch sight of hands hitting the table they played upon. Casting a sidewards glance, his emerald hues settled upon a familiar face. The ivory haired boy had not come into contact with Leon in quite some time, way before the District fiasco. But he still recognized him. "Come to join in on the fun, Leon..?"
At least that was what Xaier hoped to be the outcome. The last thing he wanted to do was throw down against Leon unprepared. Xaier had come a long way, but he didn't doubt for a second that Leon's strength and abilities hadn't grown himself.

Mic stared at the trio. He'd fallen the this trick back home, and lost several hundred pounds. Ever since it amused him to watch others fall for these things. Despite his intellect he knew sometime soon he'd fall for one again. He wondered if it would be to one of these folk tom-foolery's.

The sudden appearance of the new intimidating figure gave Ozzie pause. Xaier had a strong aura, but this guy's was breaking the charts. Ozzie would have to tread carefully on this one to get what he wanted. He took the chain from the table and thumbed the links through his hand, looking over the two men.
"Welcome, stranger. I take it you're here to play? You joined in at an interesting time, the stakes are about to change."
Ozzie turned his attention back to Xaier. With a slightly more serious tone, he said coolly, "Let's play for a favor. A blank check. If you win, you get my help on anything in the future, no questions asked. Could be a free lift into town or hiding a dead body, anywhere in between. If I win, I get the same no-questions-asked favor from you. Cashable at any time. Sound interesting?"
This was how Ozzie built his contacts and power. Subtle debts held by others.
"And you stranger, care to play for the same?"

Xaier would pause for a moment as he listened to the new stakes this kid set. He wasn't surehoe to take it. His only issue was that he always tried his best to uphold his word. He just didn't want to get entangled in anything he deemed morally wrong. However, it would only happen if he was going to lose, Which he totally was not!
"I'm in. You have my word. Let lady luck decide who owes the debt, eh?" Xaier would interlace his fingers and crack them, before dropping those emerald hues to the table, preparing himself for the game while he awaited Leon's choice.

Leon would chuckle at the new stakes, turning around and taking a step or two, before circling back to the table.
"Oh, yes. I believe this is worth my time."
This would be his answer to both Xaier and the guy running this street gamble. This reminded him of someone a long time ago, possibly in another life.
