"Wait!"
The man would stand, moving to the door in front of Steven.
"If our baby girl is dead and what you say happened, happened, then you're the only one who knows what went on. And he deserves to know the truth." He stopped for a moment, an almost angry look appearing on his face. "And why would you want us to leave you out of the story in the first place? Are you hiding something from us?"

"Because the guy almost killed me just before I was kidnapped. If I was taken in good health, I may have had a better chance of saving her."
Steven would explain, and go to push the father out of the way. Before opening the door to leave.
"I'll send you a letter of what happened. Show it to him, because If I see him face to face. I am taking her death out on him. She didn't deserve to die" 'I didn't deserve to live.' Steven mind added to himself.
Steven would say over his shoulder and try to walk away.
---
If Steven was allowed to leave he would do as he said, and write a letter every detail of what happened. Trying his hardest to save her life, putting his own self in the way. All except his name, he didn't think the parent wouldn't pass it on, but he couldn't stop them.

Steven would be able to get out of the house like he wanted, but that didn't mean the father did not protest. Everything about Steven's choices seemed to be strange to them, so when he walked away, they shrugged off the thought of him receiving a letter.
"Get out of here!" The father called after him as he walked away. "I don't want to see your face again!"
