Basil decides to use the drill press since it seemed a lot simpler and he had less of a chance of cutting a finger off. He patiently waited his turn and then punched three holes into the plastic. Not perfect, but he was still learning.
Listening to the next instructions he assumed he would be making one thing out of metal and that would be his project for the class, with a few lessons probably. He thinks for a few more minutes to decide what he wants to make. Necklace, no, too simple. Watch, no, too hard. How about a wind charm? He smiled at the idea until he realized he'd have nowhere to put it, considering the apartment he was staying in had no balcony or yard. Thinking again he decided on a picture frame, I'd be nice to put a picture of Matrix and him in it.
Getting out a piece of paper he writes down his idea and tries to write down all the other things, but comes out stumped.

As the class continued to use the machine some already sitting down and starting to try and come up with ideas, Cachito would smile at those already writing. However she would explain again, and give a few more details while also answering a couple question that had been raised, or could be on people mind.
"For your project, you can use any material or machine you can find in the shop here. You will be marked on three main criteria. One, Quality, you will be marked on how well you have made your item, from clean cuts, polished finish and other such things. Two, Complexity, the more complex your project would be to make the higher you in turn will be graded. Three, usefulness, lastly you will be marked on the function of your project. The more useful what you make could be seen to be, the higher the grade."

Post by Kyou Kobayashi on Apr 26, 2015 14:00:04 GMT -5
Kyou nodded at the teacher's answer. He was glad. So, when she'd finished talking, he went straight to work--after all, it wasn't like he had anyone to talk to, or anything else that could distract him from his work. He went to the supplies and got some relatively thin sheets of metal (though not thin enough to bend with mere human strength) and went to his table. He took out his pencil and sketched lightly on the sheets before going to the equipment and getting to work.
When he'd finished cutting out the basic shapes from the metal, he turned off the equipment and moved on to the drill press, where he used various sizes of drills to get clean-cut shapes on his pieces of metal that were, if anyone cared to look, were very small and could fit in the palm of his hand. He had a few metal rings that were very flat, and other pieces of metal that looked like flat, thin blocks of metal that had smooth pieces cut out so it looked like it could lock itself with one another. He continued to work diligently and silently on his project, taking a very long time and constantly doing more to each piece until he had a handful of uniquely shaped metal pieces that had unique and different designs on them. One of the flat rings had several lines cut on the sides of it, resembling a ruler in that sense, but quite obviously not one from it's shape and size. He felt bad that he'd taken so long on his pieces, hoping that he hadn't been in someone else's way when they wanted to use the machines, so when he'd finished, he'd return to his desk.
Once sitting down again, Kyou would start to gently and skillfully put the little pieces together in an extremely complex kind of way. If anyone had been watching, they probably would have no idea what the heck it was he was making. Not that Kyou cared, of course.

Sarah wasn't really too knowledgeable about all the things that they were doing. It wasn't like she lived in a house that used all this equipment, she didn't even live in a house at the moment. She did however feel drawn more to the drill press and so following instructions she would be pushing down the drill press and drill three holes, spacing about an inch between each hole and as straight as she could manage to get it. It wasn't the best thing but it was pretty decent for a beginner she hoped.
She would focus on her studying since it seemed that she was being ignored by Zoe.
When the project of making something of use was given to them Sarah struggled to think of what a good thing to make would be. She briefly considered a bird house or a bat house as it were, but instead she thought about making some sort of makeup shelf. So she would get wood and cut to construct the basic small box shape using one long flat board for the back surface, a long thin board for the bottom, trying to make the edges nice and even. The thing was pretty shoddy though, being her first time making something like that.
She would use the drill press to make a row of circles for a shelf of sorts to hold up objects that rested in the holes, something that she could use for stick eyeliners, mascara, and tall enough lipstick tubes. Or hell, even just toothbrushes. Of course, it was probably fairly inneffective as it was since it'd probably be in a bathroom with a lot of water.
By the time her abomination of a project was done she was tired and had a headache, she presented it though, "Does effort count into the grade because... I suck."

Varus half-listened to the words of the teacher, already having an idea of what he wanted to make in mind. He wasn't the best at the whole ideas thing (he typically just looked for the most simple thing he could make online) but since he was running low on data he had to go solo on this. He supposed that he could make a bird house but he'd have nowhere to put it. If he made a chair, it would take too long for the scope of the class. If he made a bowl it would be simple as all hell...well unless he actually tried to make it circular rather than one of those new-age square ones.
Still, what exactly warranted the machinery? A hook ring? A paperweight? Oh! He could make a sword. That sounded awesome! He could not only use it for practice but also hang it on his wall. Sure there could be some injuries but it was worth a shot.
With that in mind he grabbed a piece of sheet metal and a marker to start marking out the shape of the sword. For the plywood, he sketched a T-shaped section with a note to cut the center later. Once the machines were free he cut the plywood into a handle and the metal into something resembling a broadsword (although it was jagged to say the least). He sanded down the edges of the handle before inserting the blade, pursing his lip.
Hopefully it wouldn't pop out once he tried waving it around.

As Basil listened to the teacher again he blinked and pondered upon her words. Well his picture frame could fairly easily achieve all of her categories. Taking out his phone he pulled up google and started to look up some picture frames. Getting his ideas all set he smiled and went to work, writing up what he wanted to make. When he finished he walked over to Kenji and poked his arm. "Hey, how you doing on this project?"

Post by Miyamoto Kenji on Apr 29, 2015 15:00:11 GMT -5
At the end of the teacher's speech, Kenji had determined what to make. He recalled a website that he'd seen online once regarding metal mirrors. With the tools available here, and his memory on the subject, he realized that it'd be very possible to make a decent piece for his project, and possibly keep it later on to give as a gift to somebody. Who, he hadn't the foggiest clue. He sketched out a rough but telling design for his mirror, being a simple hand mirror, handle and all. At the end of it, he felt Basil poking him and looked up to receive his question, chuckling in response. "Reasonably well, I suppose. I decided what I'll make. Excuse me." He smiled and nodded before getting up and venturing over to the machines. Let it be reminded that Kenji's experience with metal extends to wielding it in combat, and cleaning and maintenance. With that said, he was also diligent and patient, and calculating. After acquiring two suitably thick sheets of metal, one regular steel and one stainless, he took it to a machine that he hadn't seen anyone else use - a throatless shear. He'd used one before in his woodworking endeavors, but not for metal, so he wasn't about to jump straight into his work. Instead, Kenji used the normal steel sheet he'd picked up and ran it through as a test run, getting used to the cutting power and feel of the hardware with this one. Once it was cut down, he safely discarded it, then ran his stainless steel sheet through, focusing purely on his work and naught else. After a while, and a lot of patience and careful turns, Kenji finished and shut the shear off. His mostly-finished product was an oval-shaped mirror with a handle big enough to fit in most peoples' hands comfortably. Next, he took it over to the drill press and, after securing it to the board, carefully drilled a hole into the handle, dead center of the slightly rounded end. This way, it could be hung up on a wall or the like. Following this, Kenji was close to finishing, and knew exactly what he needed for this next part: a metal-cutting knife. He hunted around near the machines until he located such an object, then - after briefly testing its cutting power on his previously-discarded test sheet - would carefully, patiently, and decently cut out a millimeter oval indent around the mirror portion of the piece - half an inch from the edge, to be precise - to differentiate it from the rest of the steel. All that remained at this point were two tasks. For the first, Kenji acquired a hand sander and sat down at his table again, getting to work sanding down the edges of his piece to make them smooth. He'd done this many a time with wood before to great effect, and though it was his first time sanding metal, it had the same effect and turnout here. The last thing on the list was to polish the mirror. A couple minutes' searching and he managed to find a clean cloth and some solution for stainless steel, and he was set to go back at his table again, diligently and contentedly making his hand mirror clean and shiny.

huh @tagged Wait what.
What the fricken frick.
She was supposed to make something now?
Aww heeell no, she was gonna get a double F minus for sure. After messing with the tools, cutting wood, and doing her best to put things together for a good long while Vivi constructed a pathetic little wooden box about the size of her hand.
And she was totally fine with that, pffft.

The aspect of a project was a bit daunting for Zoe... Luckily she was super duper smart! Right? So, figuring out to do this wasn't too difficult. In fact, the option to go way overboard with her project was there as well. Zoe's mental gears turned as she considered doing something insane... Nah.
After quietly working in the back for a bit, she just made a clock tower. The girl had seemed to have gone out all out. It was taller than she was, and it appeared to be something a bit too... advanced for a school girl to make. Which was evident by the fact that the hole where the clock was suppose to go had an actual clock in it. Zoe had made a working clock.

Cachito would watch, walking around the room as people went about doing the tasks that she had given out. She smiled as some of them of them seemed to excell at the task while others seemed to struggle a little more. She would over people shoulders, some people focused on writing up there designs, while others went straight to trying to start them. However those that had tried starting would find themselves cut short by the school bell. "Alright that enough. You have other classes to get to kids." She said, heading to the door and holding opening.

Kyou looked up as the bell rang. Was class over already? He'd almost finished putting together his mechanism, but he stopped when class had ended. He had to remind himself--he was here for one reason and one reason only, and it wasn't to make a little machine. So, he gathered his nearly finished mechanism and put it in a small container along with the other stray pieces before placing it in his backpack. He would finish it up at home, it was important to him that he did. When the other students started to leave, he stood up and casually walked around the shop, anticipating for everyone to go away. "Wow~" He practically sang in a quite childish manner, looking at the sharp machinery. "We sure are lucky to have a teacher like you around, ma'am! Just think about it, with all of these machines around and a bunch of students who might start to fight... wouldn't it be easy for someone to be murdered by this equipment and make it seem like a mere accident?" His words held a dark feeling to them, and suddenly the innocent act would drop, giving the teacher a very serious feeling by the young boy's words. "You must be pretty capable to run a place like this..." He then said something that could come off as even more shocking. "I mean, wouldn't it also be dangerous for a teacher like you to be alone in a room like this... when people were out for your head? You must be really strong, huh?"

Cachito chuckled when the small boy who had wanted to talk to her at the end of the lesson came up to her and started talking. She would slowly walk over to her desk and take a seat and put her feet up, beckoning for the boy to take a seat by the desk.
"Mr. Kobayashi, you would find it incredibly impressive how hard it is to make a death in a work shop like this appear to be a accident. It is possible to figure out from, wounds left on a person, due to angle, location, the amount of pressure and damage, if wounds were self inflicted due to a accident or someone being purposeless harmed with them.
Similar techniques get used by investigation of police brutality and prison violence, where people have purposely hurt themselves in order to try and get arresting officers or another inmate in trouble. But enough of that.
I can see the subtleties or the lack there of in what you are saying. I assure you, it isn't your direct concern. However if you are interested in being of some help I could direct you in that regard. However if you plan to be of a hindrance or unguided investigative eye, your actions would lead to the harm of people I cannot accept. And will make sure that you are unable to stick you nose in unguided."

Kyou would walk to the teacher's desk and sit down on one of the chairs nearby. He would place his backpack on his lap and hug it lightly to his chest as she replied. A smile grew on his face at her first deduction. "Ah, so she is smart. I know for a fact that she's not some innocent bystander and definitely is more advanced mentally than most. There's been many attempted murders in places like this where it was so clearly not suicide or an accident, but just plain old murder. She's clearly smarter than that, and I respect her." He couldn't help but to grin and nodded, saying, "Right you are. Only an idiot would try to pull something like that off, I mean, it's painfully obvious that it's murder, should it involve equipment like this. Of course, it's still possible, but, as you said, highly unlikely. The murderer would have to be a genius to pull it off and fool the local police." He sighed lightly. "But, of course, in this situation, I don't think we're dealing with anyone less than genius. You're aware of the three women who had attacked this school not too long ago, correct?" He adjusted his glasses. "If you're unaware--which I'm sure you are aware--they were after you. I don't wish to be a hindrance to you at all, honest... I'm just very curious why it is that they were after you specifically. However, I wouldn't be surprised if you were very special and they needed you for something, or perhaps you're a runaway fugitive that they want to kill. Either way, I know you were involved and I'd like to know what was going on."
He paused for a moment, letting it sink in that he was a good guy who was just genuinely trying to solve a mystery that could possibly harm others in the future. He contemplated speaking more--unsure if it would be right or wise to continue talking. There was so much he wanted to say and ask... but he knew it might not be wisest to throw everything at her all at once, but rather, to let things unwind on its own.
He took a deep breath before continuing, deciding that he did have to tell her this bit of information. "The three women harmed a few of the students attending the school--and they most certainly were out for the kill. But they weren't your average opponent or killer. They used items that, as far as I could tell, possessed 'magical' abilities. I'm sure there's extremely advanced technology behind their equipment, but that only helps further my curiosity. Why were such high-ranked, extremely advanced people after you? I'm gathering some information on abnormalities among human behavior and physiology, and I'm not sure if these three fit into place with the projects I'm involved in or not, but regardless, I'd like your help--if you can--to stop them. Two were defeated and taken care of, but one escaped and is still out there. I doubt she'll sit around and wait for a witness like me to inform you and give you time to come up with an effective plan. If I didn't know better, I'd even think that there's more like them out there, and right now, they might just be gathering forces to come and get you with even more force and strength than before. But that's just me, personally."

"I am aware. However telling you exactly the reason why, well one it is a very long and personal story. Two I don't know if I could get away with it. However I will tell you this, the instigator is not as smart as you think. He is no genius, but employs them instead.
The items they used, are more then likely just as you say. Highly advance, extremely hard to understand and made by one of the geniuses the man employs. If you are extremely serious about trying to be involved in investigating this person I will warn you.
For the most part the law can not touch him, he can bribe at the highest level and has lawyers to match it. However as much as he may send people to harm me, I by no means wish ill upon him. I just have no choice but to do so.
If you are truly interested, then meet me after school in the car park. And we will go for a little trip."

Kyou listened to what she said intently, nodding to affirm he understood when she spoke. "Ah, so he's just a coward hiding behind the works of brilliant minds? That's worse than I thought... if it had been just him who was on that level of intelligence, things would have been easier. But since there seems to be multiple brains at work, and he's got an army of puppets to use at his will, things are more difficult... though all the more interesting. We can't get help from the police--so it'll have to be very confined and secretive if we do anything to take action. And we're up against someone who has many advantages to his disposal, and anything can be used against us, so every step must be taken with extreme precaution. I'm even more interested in this case than I was before," He thought. He nodded, saying, "Yes. My interests are true and sincere. I'll meet you there after school, then." He smiled lightly. "I'm glad to have shared this conversation with you, Ma'am," He said before taking his things and leaving.
