Appearance: A lovely young lady whose latent gothic appearance serves only to enhance her exotic beauty. Her deceptively compact figure is shapely, toned, and lithe as a blade from years of martial arts and training, slender but very powerful. In short, she's a tomboy and has a very androgynous look to her; her face is feminine and soft while her body is more muscular and defined. She has very small breasts though she doesn't mind as she loves being mistaken for a boy, especially if such a thing gets her closer to her goal of bedding any women in her line of sight. She often wears lighter shades that contrast sharply with her smooth, dark, slightly golden tinted skin. Her hair is long, dark and she has a tendency to dye it into mixed shades of red, violet, and blue. She also has scars in her back and legs, both from training in her chosen martial art and because of her various...indiscretions over the years. She has varied piercings, some that are linked together by chains, such as the one on her lip that connects to her ear. She's almost never seen without her black steel toed combat jungle boots, which she keeps polished to a high, reflective shine.
Distinguishing Marks/Tattoos: Tempus only has one and she's rather proud of it. It's a phoenix, colored red, orange and gold. She got it from a clan member of hers that was brilliant with technology and from what Tempus was told the small bottle that contained the liquid for her special tattoo held a trillion tiny little microscopic holographic projectors suspended in a neutral medium. Each projector was color-coded via the needle interface as it was injected. The projectors send their individual little images through the lower layer of the skin and formed the image one infinitesimal dot at a time. The final product has a slight orange/reddish glow and looks like it is hovering just a millimeter below the surface. The phoenix sweeps from Tempus' shoulder to down her back, its tail began as the form reached the lower curve of her spine, several long and delicate feathers spreading on each side to the outer curve of her hips. The tattoo moves with Tempus and seems alive.
Personality: Tempus carries with her a huge chip on her shoulder - she is hot-tempered when it comes to fighting but notoriously lazy and doesn't bother with situations she doesn't think she's needed in or doesn't want to be bothered by. She thoroughly enjoys a good fight, and is very confident and prideful of her ability, roughcut as it may be. However, she also has an oddly charming, charismatic atmosphere - in a swashbuckling sort of way. Despite her sometimes rough ways and speech, inside, Tempus is a genius - although her ingenuity runs more along the lines of Wile E. Coyote rather then Albert Einstein. In the end though, somehow, she makes it work as if it was her plan all along no matter how many bumps in the road there were. She is a tough-as-nails fighter in not only her punishing style of her chosen martial arts, but in all manners of the word.
History: Tempus grew up the daughter of two famous and well known thieves, vaunted for their abilities to steal just about anything and never get caught. However, when their daughter was born they took a vow never to live that lifestyle again and wanted to forge a simple, normal life for their child. But in their career they had built up too much heat and, in the end, were killed by a notorious mobster that had deduced their identity. Her parents had put up a good fight, but the sheer numbers was too much and, in the end, were killed. The mobsters, wanting to end things quickly, torched the mansion they had raided to get at Tempus' parents, and left...leaving the hidden child behind.
Luckily, the Cat's Paw Thieves Guild, the former organization that Tempus' parents had run with, were on the scene within moments of the actual attack but were helpless to help lest they reveal their own identities. They knew of Tempus, and one braved the fire to go in and save the helpless child out. Unsure of what to do, the Guild adopted Tempus as one of their own, raising the child as they would any of their other orphans and never letting the child know of her parents or the tragedy of their death until she was much older so she could understand the inaction on their part, and why they took her in.
It was clear, though, that as Tempus grew, that she was no ordinary child. She was special, as her parents were. She was gifted beyond reason in the art of breaking and entering, of sneaking and thieving. The heads of the guild debated on how to use the child, for they could see that your every day robberies and thefts were leaving Tempus bored, and the energy she put towards any given task was sloth-like, at best. While she could be active and explosive when she wanted, Tempus preferred to keep a low profile, as her lazy, cat-like nature often dominated her personality and came through at the worst times. She hardly cared, though, and by the time she was nineteen decided that, though life in the guild was great, she ought to strike out on her own...if only so she could find a place to lounge all day without being bothered.
Life outside of her own world was rough, as life being sheltered by the Thieves Guild was relatively easy. She was provided for and all her jobs were handed to her. She was free to take anything from those jobs as long as she got to her target and back again, and therefore had plenty of spending money on the side. All information and intel on a job was also provided, which was the main problem with her parting ways from the Guild; she was well and truly alone. People fought tooth and nail for what they had, and Tempus knew she was going to have to find a way to get that money if she wanted to eat and, most importantly, chase women.
A year into her journey, Tempus has honed her art into something wholly unique and lives off the fat of the land of wherever she happens to be. Unfortunately for her that meant making more than a few enemies of influential people, the last being a man whose wife Tempus just happened to be caught in bed with. With his pull with local law enforcement and more than a few well placed bribes Tempus was unceremoniously shipped off to PHS #552 with tales of just how unholy violent she was, peppered with lies about her predatory and immoral behavior.
Fighting Style: While Tempus' chosen styles are Jeet Kune Do and Akido, she has a smorgasbord of styles to chose from, as her training wasn't very formal in either of her primary styles. That being said, she has still mastered them to the best of her ability and still retains that those are what she uses to fight despite not following the life philosophy of Jeet Kune Do as its creator did, nor the more self defense style that Akido mostly emphasizes.
Instead, Tempus does what many do in order to improve oneself in any given discipline; she branched out. With so many different styles to chose from and so many practitioners of those martial arts in her own home, Tempus wanted to learn the basics of each and then pick and chose from each one to find moves and create katas to make something wholly unique and different. Because to her, unorthodox is the name of the game. If you use the same style of fighting over and over, eventually your opponent (if they're smart enough) will adapt and overcome. If you keep them off guard and guessing, eventually they're going to guess wrong and come out worse for wear for it.
But like most styles, Tempus had to start from somewhere and build upon a core set of moves to do so. You can't be all random all the time and if you do, you end up with Drunken Boxing and...well, a drunk. But even that style builds upon itself, and Tempus was determined to do the same. She so loved the various joint locks and holds that Akido offered and started there, making her own style to be a CQC (close quarter combat) one, built upon disabling an opponent one way and then quickly focusing on another while offering a distraction or feint in between. While this style doesn't have a name, Tempus simply refers to the following as the 'Feedback Loop'.
For example, getting an opponent into a thumb lock before driving the elbow of the arm that holding the thumb into her opponent's face (which they may or may not block), then aiming a kick to the knee for added pressure. Done in very quick succession, her opponent may have to chose one of those three things, but not usually more; get out of the thumb lock to avoid a broken hand, block the oncoming elbow to the face to avoid a broken nose or busted face, or focus on dodging the kick to the knee to avoid losing mobility. In the end, the overall name of Tempus' style is limiting the choices her opponent has and forcing them to make one, but not the others. In such a way she can systematically break down those that aren't aware of the tactics she's using by shuffling up the options given but always targeting something vital or necessary. While the choices given the end result is the same; give three choices, take one hit. What that hit is always depends on the opponent, though, hence the name; Feedback Loop. Their own choice will come back to bite them.
If unable to be in as close as she wants, Tempus uses the length of her legs and height to strike out with quick kicks and rapid knees and elbows, attributed to her secret love for Muay Thai. Although not very skilled and hardly powerful enough to take advantage of the style as someone bigger would, it's the style she finds that suits her best. Tempus combines her Muay Thai style kicks with bits and pieces of Krav Maga and it's heavy emphasis on punches, though Tempus favors the palm strike in efforts to make a bigger impact. However, being far from an opponent is not where she wants to be, so while she may use what little she knows (mostly just the basics, really) of Muay Thai and Krav Maga, Tempus heavily relies on the style of Shootfighting to get in close to her opponent and penetrate their defenses to begin the Feedback Loop.
