Darkness of the Past [QI Unlock/Solo/ WIP]

"Another Nightmare!"

I stood up, sweat in my face. I kept having nightmare after nightmare, all reminding me of the dark past that I hid from everyone.Why did I keep having this nightmares? I don't want to remember. I stood up from my bed and changed into my everyday clothes. After that, I went downstairs and got ready to open the doors of my manor and leave to do my everyday life when I noticed it was the weekend. I had a whole 48 hours to do whatever I wanted before I had to go to 552, the house of delinquents.

I logged into my computer to see what the world had for store today. The first thing I see is my email, which had new mail for me. I opened it up and read it.

Dear Alex,

You have been chosen to test out our new product, a virtual reality machine. This is a special offer since this product has not yet been opened for the public. Come to our secret facility in the city, its by the shopping district.

"What a bunch of crap!"

It seemed fake since I got spam emails like this every day, but since I had nothing else to do I might as well check it out.I headed out from my abandoned mansion and into the woods. The woods where a place of peacefullness and quiet so I liked it and I got a reward for being in the woods too long, a mansion inhabited by nobody. I know the forest like the back of my hand, so finding a way to the city shouldn't be no problem.

Arriving at the shopping district after traveling a series of alleyways and jumping a few rooftops, I saw the location of the place I was supposed to meet up for the offer. On the outside it was an abandoned arcade. I put my hand on the bar attached to the door and pushed, finding out it was unlocked.

"Weird..."

What type of person puts their secret facility in an abandoned arcade? Must be some sort of way to hide their place from the public, but still why in an arcade? I advanced into the building and after doing some exploring, I found what seemed to be the virtual reality machine. After closer inspection, I found a sticky note taped to the machine.

Get in

Sounded suspicious, but it seemed like the person that put this sounded like he knew it was safe, so I got in. It was like a bed, but slanted in a way so you could just step out and be standing. The bed was part of a capsule and encased in glass and wires dangled from the back. After getting in, there was this little headband with cords attached to it, obviously indicating that I put it on, which I did.

All of a sudden, it started. I opened my eyes and it looked like I was in the middle of a forest. It looked familiar, but I couldn't remember from where. I stood up and followed a trail that was in front of me, which led to a clearing. In the far back was a man that I knew.

"Master, its you!"

I ran straight towards him, but as I did everything started getting distorted. I tried to run towards him, but I was running in place and then I got knocked back hard. I went flying backwards and then everything got dark.

"What the...!"

I was in a totally different place, but it looked crazy. It looked like all my memories where mashed together to make some kind of virtual world. There was part of a hallway from 552 connected to forest trail. The distortion continued for the ground was broken up and beyond the broken floors and grounds lied a void.

I looked around at this new scenery and found him, Markus walking towards the distorted 552. I chased after him an found myself in the...inner courtyard? It seemed as if the courtyard was moved indoors here, but what surprised me was that Markus wasn't there. It was another person I had never met.

"Stop chasing him. He's gone," said the entity.

"What do you know about him. He left a letter saying that he would come back!," I said.

"Did he or are you lying to yourself," he replied.

I questioned if I was just living an illusion by waiting for Markusd or if I should get over the fact that he thought me everything about life. Markus was a kind heart who seemed to help others with their problems, and I was one of those people, I was his successor. He chose me to continue his legacy, but he didn't finish teaching me. That's why I got to find him,so he can finish what he started: making me his successor with all the knowledge needed already learned. The room was silent for about a minute before I decided to talk.

"I have to find him so I can get the wisdom I seek," I finally said.

To my surprise, he was gone. I was the only one there. Things where getting weird here. Not only am I seeing things, but this whole place is going with me and my memories. I continued my search for him, going thru countless corridors that led to unexpected changes in the environment. I would be in the school and all of a sudden I'd be in the city. This virtual reality machine seemed broken due to all of this chaos in here. I wasn't a fan of chasing something that would just disappear somewhere literallyered it, but I have to find Markus to finish what he started. I continued through this messed up cityscape to find that, besides Markus, I was seeing others.I have never met this other people, which is why I wondered who they were here.

I found myself in Boston after traveling a distorted road from New York. Everything here seemed fine except....this town was lifeless. There was no one in the town of Boston. It was clear.

"Hello! HELLLLLOOOOOOO!!! Anybody here?!"

If there was going to be tumble weed, now would be the chance to add that in. It was empty. That's when I saw Markus going towards the harbor.

"Stop Running from me! Aren't you glad to see your only pupil! "

I chased him towards Boston Bay. Markus was nowhere to be found.

"STOP HIDING FROM ME!!! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THIS TO ME! I WAITED A LONG TIME TO SEE YOU AND YOU JUST TURN ME AWAY!!!"

Tears were forming in my eyes. Why did he have to shut me out. When he taught me, he was always happy with me and now he's just running. I fell on my knees. I had enough of this crap.

"That's what you get for chasing some dead person..."

I looked up. There was that guy again, the guy from the inner courtyard. I was so angry at that point, but I didn't have the strength to fight. Not in this condition.

"Get Out before I really go crazy on you," I said to him in my most serious voice.

He didn't go away, instead he went inside me and I was shocked by that. But afterwards I just started floating up and that was creeping me out.


"WHAT THE HECK, GET OUT OF ME YO--"

Either I was going crazy, or a giant blast of darkness cane out from my mouth. 


There the final touches, a voice in my head said. I was dropped down after that, and I was surprised it didn't hurt after falling into hard concrete. 


"Get out of my body now!"


I was really pissed out now, but there was nothing I could do about it. I just ignored the fact that there was a person in me and continued wandering the virtual world. After a while I reached what seemed to be the end, the infinite white void. I looked straight at that white are and found this black dot. It seemed to be getting closer and as it was, I found out it was some dark face....its target : me. I ran through the streets of Boston like crazy. That thing was chasing me everywhere I went and now that I was cornered in an alleyway, I turned around and there he was. I screamed like a little girl, litteraly.

"Oh my god!!!"


I was back to reality. I was breathing a bit faster and if I stayed longer, I might have gotten a heart attack. That scared me. I opened the glass door that surrounded the bed and got out. Since I forgot to take out the thing on my head, it ripped off. After that I just took off the piece of trash of my head.

I looked around the place and found something new, a door that wasn't there before.

"Something seems off here..."

I opened the door and saw someone in a black robe besides some computers. I approached the guy and when I came towards him...he turned around and stared at me with his glowing red eyes before speacking in a dark voice.

"You have done well to have gotten this far. In all my time that I have been researching you, I wouldn't have expected you would get out of my Virtual trap. I put your own past against you and somehow you seem to have conquered your fear. Why you should have been stuck there for an eternity. "

I noticed that somehow my mind was getting consumed by this power. It felt like if all my worries washed away, all my anger covered me to make me stronger.

"Forget your dark traps, I am the darkness. Your trap was no match to someone like me. If you want a true trap, you shall get one!"

I punched him multiple times in the stomach, making him scream in agony. By the time I was done, he looked gravely injured, but he was still alive.

"Get in my way again and the price will be death."

I was about getting ready to leave before the guy said some final words.

"Alex this isn't you...."

I turned around and looked at him in the eyes. I could sense a familiar scent on him....a scent I recognized well.

"I am him, but I think your getting some information wrong.He is done with you....Markus. I will be his new mentor. I will be his power and once he has learned enough from me, he will then spread all of his anger across this pitiful city."

With that, I left the arcade. After that, the dark power let go of my mind and seemed to spread out along me. For some reason, the memories of Boston seemed to have almost vanished from my memory. Whatever the reason, at least I have a new power to test out on the people that had defeated me. I would run back to the mansion, using the same trail towards it. But mid-way through, I changed my mind and headed to the school. It was the weekend, but that didn't mean I could go to my favorite spot...the roof. I kicked the door open to the rooftop and sat down on the ledge. The sunset was, like always making the view of New York's skyscrapers a sight to see.

"Finally some time to myself. What do you think," I said.

"I think that you and me are ready to make some people pay for what they have done to you, don't you think,said the other guy.

"Yeah, but can you tell me what your name is?And where did you come from," I replied.

"I was made from your anger, your rage, your darkness and I'm here because you have found me..."

There was a pause before he said the rest of his sentence.

"...and my name is Alex."
