When nothing goes right… I’ll go left.
“Woooh… Ok, Leo. You’re fine. Everything is fine, man. You’re gonna be ok. All you gotta do is just walk in there, and sit down. That’s it. You’ve done it before, you can do it again.” Leo stood outside of the Angels Pray bar, visibly shaking in his shoes. It wasn’t particularly the weather that was getting to him, but the fact that he had to enter such a crowded bar. His one and only friend bad at the High School, Blake, had convinced him to take the night off. Or get himself away from what he usually did during the late evenings, which was sit at home and read a butt-ton of manga or comic books.
Blake figured that putting him in an environment that scared him would only help him overcome it. So he was somehow able to persuade Leo into taking a trip to the local bar.
The red-headed student began snapping his fingers, clenching his eyes shut as he stood in the alleyway next to the establishment, trying to mentally prepare himself for such a daring challenge. He had never been subjected to anything like this. This was all new to him. Going out in public was scary to him. Even the chance that some stranger would try to spark up a conversation with him was about the scariest scenario he thought he could find himself in. Everything was all planned out. Blake had gotten him a fake ID, and a good one at that. All he had to do was go in, sit down for an hour or two, and then he could go back to Blake’s apartment.
Leo rounded the corner, his eyes widening in horror as he watched groups of individuals file in and out of the bar. His face molded over into a pale grey color, beads of sweat starting to form upon his pallid face.
“Oh god.. C’mon Leo.. You gotta do this.. Y-you can do this..”
With one final burst of confidence and mental preparation, Leo darted for the door. He kept his eyes closed so as to avoid contact with anyone else's. When he opened them, the only thing he could see was pure horror. There were people everywhere, laughing and drinking. Yelling, smiling, cracking jokes. The place was absolutely packed.
He froze in place, his brows furrowing at the sight of so many people in one place. He clenched his fists, narrowly turning on his heels to exit the bar when a simple thought crossed his mind. He always felt somewhat ok in school. It wasn’t the best environment, but it certainly wasn’t as bad as this. For some reason, he just felt a little more comfortable around peers. So that’s all he had to do. He had to imagine this place like school. Just think of this like lunch. He could waddle over to a corner where no one was, and enjoy himself. He brought his phone with him, so he could pull up some manga online. That’s exactly what the young student did.
He made his way to the north-eastern corner of the bar, taking up a stool that snuggled him up against the bar counter and the wall. This was perfect. He had his own little corner all to himself..
