qi Here on PHS #552 abilities are known as Qi. Qi is a strange energy possessed by several individuals that comes from a relatively unknown source. All special abilities, whether originating from Qi energy or technology, will follow the Qi regulations from this thread.
Getting Qi Points And Qi Costs
- For every 5 base INT a character has, they will gain 1 Qi Point.
- A Qi Point is used to buy powers from the Qi Shop.
- Each power costs the same amount of Qi Points as the number of the tier. So a tier 1 Qi costs 1 Qi Points while a tier 4 would cost 4 Qi Points.
- A character may trade 3 Custom Tickets for 1 Qi Point.
- With the exception of nerfs and refunding, Qi Points cannot be reused once spent.
- A character may only have a certain amount of powers for each tier between both Qi and items.
Making Qi
- A player can design their Qi as part of buying them.
- Once your Qi is done, post it in the shop. A staff member will then post to approve them, offer edits or reject the Qi if it is too unbalanced to be fixed without changing the ability entirely.
- Feel free to PM the staff member who replied to your thread to discuss Qi edits.
- Qis may not be carbon copies of other specific character based Qis. This would include specially tailored abilities that fit a character's background or special traits. An example would be a special punching ability that requires a prosthetic arm. This is something very unique and would not be allowed to be copied. General abilities, such as shooting lightning, are not examples of this.
- Although a player may have certain max amounts of Qis per tier, there is a hard limit of 10 Qi abilities across the board.
Using Qi
- A character may only use a Qi ability a certain number of times per each tier.
- This is decided by the character's intelligence. The higher the intelligence of a character, the more Qi uses they will get.
- Higher tiers will have higher costs as well.
- The cost is shared by all Qi of a certain tier. So, if you use one tier 3 Qi, you'll have one less use of all tier 3 Qis for that thread.
- A player cannot use the same Qi twice in the same post unless stated otherwise in the Qi.
- A player may use a max of 3 Qi Abilities per post.
- Int increases do not increase the amount of uses a person may have, but Int decreases do reduce the amount of uses in the thread until the decrease is resolved.
- All Qis must have a tell of some sort. This can be anything from a glow to the smell of rotten eggs as the ability activates.
Qi Items vs Qi Users
- Items may have Qi abilities, and these Qi are not limited by the user's intelligence. This means someone with 20 Int could use a tier 3 Qi ability.
- Items, however, still follow the rules of allowed abilities per tier.
Damage Caps
- Due to the limits of the human body, Qi may only be effective up to 150 Int.
- This has been done due to how unreasonably overpowering pure Qi builds can become at their peaks without any limits.
- Blow is a chart of the highest damage capable per each tier and type of Qi attack for a character with 150 Int.
| Chaining /Splash | Area of Effect | Projectile | Melee (Strike) | Melee (On Touch) | Shield (Self) | Shield (Other) | Barrier | T1 | 9 | 18 | 37 | 75 | 18 | 75 | 37 | 18 | T2 | 18 | 37 | 75 | 112 | 37 | 112 | 75 | 37 | T3 | 37 | 75 | 112 | 150 | 75 | 150 | 112 | 75 | T4 | 75 | 112 | 150 | 206 | 112 | 206 | 150 | 112 | T5 | 112 | 150 | 187 | 225 | 150 | 225 | 187 | 150 |

special qi guidelines
These are guidelines for Qi abilities that do damage or other effects based off the user's Int. These Qi do different amounts of damage based off of the user's INT and Qi Tier. These abilities can be made up of elemental forces or Qi energy.
Melee Melee Qi requires direct physical contact to be delivered or have to be delivered by striking an opponent with a weapon as the delivery method. Melee attacks tend to do more damage than ranged or area of effect Qi due to the difficulty one can have when trying to strike an opponent as well as the added danger of being closer to an opponent.
Melee attacks are split into two categories, immediate and versatile. Immediate Melee attacks are direct hits from weapons held in hands, punches or kicks. They require direct aiming. Versatile Melee attacks are those that can be activated through more versatile means, such as someone channeling Qi energy through their body to shock someone whenever they are touched anywhere on their body. Versatile melee Qis can produce shields that absorb damage up to their Int tier. However, in exchange for their more versatile natures, they do less damage.
- Tier 1 Immediate Melee Qis may do ½ of the User's Int as Damage while Versatile Melee Qis do 1/8 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 2 Immediate Melee Qis may do 3/4 of the User's Int as Damage while Versatile Melee Qis do 1/4 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 3 Immediate Melee Qis may do the entirety of the User's Int as Damage while Versatile Melee Qis do 1/2 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 4 Immediate Melee Qis may do 1 1/4 of the User's Int as Damage while Versatile Melee Qis do 3/4 User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 5 Immediate Melee Qis may do 1 1/2 of the User's Int as Damage while Versatile Melee Qis do the entirety of the User's Int as Damage.
Projectiles Projectile Qis are abilities that can attack others over a range. These type of Qis are generally launched from the attacker. While projectiles do less damage than Melee Qis, they travel at a speed equal to the damage they can do. A Projectile Qi may be comprised of more than one projectile, but the damage and speed is divided between all individual projectiles.
- Tier 1 Qis may do 1/4 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 2 Qis may do 1/2 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 3 Qis may do 3/4 of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 4 Qis may do the entirety of the User's Int as Damage.
- Tier 5 Qis may do 1 1/4 of the User's Int as Damage.
Area of Effects and Chaining Damaging Qi of these kinds can either effect an area or chain from one target to another. An Area of Effect Qi deals more damage to those caught in the center and direct surrounding areas of the effect. Those standing further away will receive lesser splash damage. Chaining Qi travel from victim to victim with the damage becoming less per each target. The damage is decreased by the amount of the splash per each new victim.
An Area of Effect or Chaining Qi may only effect those within 10 feet of their person. A player may add 10 feet to their range, but for every 10 feet added, 5 damage is taken off of their total damage. Area of Effect Qis can deal their splash damage to those outside of their range by one half of their range. So someone with a range of 10 feet would be able to effect others with a splash if they are within 5 feet of their attack's furthest range.
- Tier 1 Qis may do 1/8 of the User's Int as Damage with 1/16 of the User's Int as Splash.
- Tier 2 Qis may do 1/4 of the User's Int as Damage with 1/8 of the User's Int as Splash.
- Tier 3 Qis may do 1/2 of the User's Int as Damage with 1/4 of the User's Int as Splash.
- Tier 4 Qis may do 3/4 of the User's Int as Damage with 3/8 of the User's Int as Splash.
- Tier 5 Qis may do the entirety of the User's Int as Damage with 1/2 of the User's Int as Splash.
Non-Damaging Some Qi don't do direct damage. These Qis tend to have some effect that is based off an amount of Qi the user possesses. These type of Qis do not have a set amount of Int per Tier like the others due to how varied and unique they can be. These types of Qi will be judged on a case by case basis. However, members should try to compare their Int tiers to the existing baselines for other types of Qi.
