It was cloudy out today, but that didn't stop Kenji from indulging in an old pasttime: woodcarving. Though he preferred live steel, he had crafted his own bokken, amongst other things, including gifts for his sisters when he was younger. Thus it was fair to say that he was both reasonably confident in his hobby, and reasonably comfortable handling wood in his hands.
If one's mind isn't in the gutter yet, one must try harder.
With his faux guitar case slung over his shoulder, a duffel bag in one hand, and a well-sharpened hatchet in the other, Kenji wandered through the woods in search of quality wood to cleave asunder and pack away, his guard up as per usual, but looking outwardly relaxed.

Strolling slowly through the woods, Tobias enjoyed the stillness of nature as he began to look for fallen wood to use for carving. He needed a couple more canes and if he could carve some rings or bracelets, then that would be wonderful. Things to occupy him while he healed were needed. Redwood or cherry would be the best for what he wanted to make, but oak was strong. He would always use oak if it was available.
Tobias came to a long piece of maple branch that had broken off and stood there contemplating. It was large enough to make several projects. The problem was how large it was. If he took it, it would be a long and arduous trek back to civilization.
Hmmm.... What to do here?

As Kenji progressed steadily and quietly through the woods in search of quality material, he could hear another's steps quite close by. Slow steps. Whether because of an ailment or because they were measured, he did not know, but given his experience with isolated environments and unknown individuals, his instinct was to discern the person in question and their intent.
Following the sound, Kenji's own footfalls became silent, reflexively avoiding any fallen twigs and noisemaking obstacles in order to prevent detection. He came upon an old, wide oak tree near the source of the footsteps which had just stopped, and stepped behind it, peering out. He spied a familiar face: the cane-toting youth who'd had the stones to challenge all of the Pillars. Granted, that hardly turned out well for him, but Kenji did respect his determination. That said, the student seemed to be staring at a long, sturdy maple branch. What was he thinking?
May as well find out.
Kenji's silence remained for a few moments longer as he rounded the tree, walking closer to his soon-to-be acquaintance before allowing his footsteps to make noise again, smiling to hopefully reduce any ensuing tension. "You look like you're contemplating something. Penny for your thoughts?"

Turning slowly with the assistance of his cane, Tobias noticed the individual that approached. He had some skill in concealing his presence. Looking at him through his sunglasses and remembering the person from his fight with the Pillars.
"Just trying to decide whether to use this maple limb for a project or go looking for something else."
Leaning on his cane, Tobias smiled as he stood there. Wood or no, he was ready to throw down if this person wanted a piece of him. This fellow was either another lover of nature or someone who wanted to test Tobias. Time would tell.
