Ira didn't answer him for a few long minutes, and merely ran her hair through his hair, apparently thinking hard about the answer. That led her to dwell on the concept of 'forever'--she wasn't sure what forever was; if it was an absurd concept that led to despair. Even then, she spoke after a long while.
"Forever." She nodded, her eyes fixed on the ceiling before she fell asleep, the snacks she intended to give him slipping to the floor; untouched and untended.
