feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Aldritch sat quietly on a tall stool by a bar inside one of the inns within the confines of the newly erected wall. He was hoping to get a cheap deal for tonight's stay, although seems like he won't be affording any comfy sleep any time soon. He was at a lack of money and spent his last couple of dollars for a few glasses of whiskey.
"I need a job..." He'd grunt as he finished a glass, looking at his wallet full of spare change, and maybe a few paperclips too. He'd pour in some more whiskey in his glass as the bartender began to speak to him. "Well, I can use a hand here..." The bartender said as he wiped some of the glasses along the counter. Hinting that there might be a job opening for another bartender. "I need a good job." Aldritch would say, making the bartender give a disgruntled look at him before approaching a different customer to accommodate.

Siobhan cursed the location of this bar. Right beside an erected wall where guards and patrols crawled, it was a dangerous thing to get her jobs completed. Her hair was pulled up into a high ponytail, and instead of the usual outfit she was fitted back into her old black attire. It brought back sour memories from before she was condemned to be nothing but a brute crawling in the filth of an alley. Determined to pry her family name from her father's dead cold hands, she was currently struggling to make a name for herself. Yanking the door to the bar open, her eyes locked with the bartender and she scowled. Siobhan strode over, slinging the side bag onto the counter. Without pausing, she removed two thick envelopes and flicked them open.
"Drug importation and main suppliers delivered at 7:36:57- four minutes before our arranged time." Narrowing her eyes, Siobhan spoke a bit more hotly just to convey her distaste. "Changed location, threatened compromise, time alteration, and transactions in the open. I expect compensation."
Shouldering the bag again, the girl waited with eyebrows raised until the bartender grumbled a few words and began shuffling underneath the counter. He placed a vault of sorts on the top, punching in a few numbers before removing cash. Siobhan accepted it silently, still waiting with her expectant look even after he returned the vault. Leaning over the counter, her face turned hard, voice going cold.
"Your information dealer."
The bartender looked as if he would refuse before snagging a pen and scribbling something down on a scrap of paper. Plucking it from him before he was done writing the last letter, she gave him a dangerous smile before turning away to leave.
"Pleasure doing business with you sir."

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Aldritch stared with his crimson eyes as the bartender handed over a thick wad of cash to the woman who had just came in. Drinking the last drop of his glass, Aldritch would continue to pour in his third and last glass of whiskey while keeping his eyes at the girl beside him.
"Business?" He said after taking sip from his glass before the girl even stood. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, only caught the last few words..." Aldritch would then trail off to take another sip and stare blankly at her bag, imagining it contain more money than he can ever even get for a month. "Now that's what I call a job... whatever it is." He'd mumble with a grin before licking his lips.

Siobhan cast a side glance at the boy beside her, realizing that her outer persona had yet to thaw completely. Her mindset was still akin to her father's during his own business transactions, something that had been well imprinted into her over the years. Despite trying to break his inflicted habits, her face was completely emotionless save for the mild alertness in her eyes. She wasn't too bothered he had overheard, in fact she was trying to compromise the bartender by forcing him to business in the open. Siobhan was lucky that this time she had the upper hand or her display of dominance earlier might have ended in her death.
"Business. Dirty work. It's a job all the same. The Apostles are cracking down so we have to accommodate somehow. I mean, it's not like we can send in a resume to the local convenience store."
Siobhan smirked at the boy, but it was more of a lethal look that added an edge to her sarcasm. Yikes, she was still a bit rusty on her social skills. Trying to reign herself in a bit, she turned his way in order to open up her body language and seem more approachable.
"But, we're probably in the same boat. If you're interested, it pays good."
Pulling out the recently earned wad of cash, Siobhan waved it a bit before pocketing it again. Of course, she wouldn't have to be doing this work much longer now that she had landed a fine piece of information sourcing. Now, the girl would be able to get paid for dealing out negotiation in words.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | The immediate impression of the girl made him think that whatever the work was to be that she might be offering, it might either be illegal or hard, or rather both. But whatever it is, it'll help him get a hearty meal three times a day and a decent place to stay for weeks in just one payment. Or else, he's back down to the parking lot tonight and the following months.
"Whatever says the words 'pays' and 'good' in the same sentence, I'm in." He'd say, downing the last bit of his drink. He knew the possibility of it being a sketchy type of business, though still, he didn't think twice before answering. It was probably the spontaneous thinking of a drunk man, though highly unlikely, he was a sober man.
Leaving the paperclip from his wallet at the bar as a tip for the service, he'd then stand up, placing both hands inside his hoodie's pockets. "Where to?" Alright, maybe he was a bit drunk.

Siobhan was unsure about the social norms. Did she interview him now or on the way? Oh, maybe she should try to dissuade him instead. As she was about to make note of how she was going to refuse him, the guy paid the bartender with a paper clip. Wondering if she should laugh at the ludicrous action or sneer at the bartender, Siobhan figured it would be in her best interest to let him tag along. Worse case scenario he died but these past few days she'd seen plenty of that.
"No kidding? Seems as if the Apostles are just sucking the life out of everything around here. So much for Chosen and Holy Workers."
Smirking, she left things at that, heading out the door and back into the chilly air. With how things stood, she had no reason to attend any more of her scheduled meetings, but maybe the guy tailing her could use a boost. Then again, she didn't owe him anything either. Interview on the way it is then. Strolling down the sidewalk, Siobhan would make sure to keep a pace he could catch up to, and once he did she would begin speaking.
"Siobhan Arden. What's your name and affiliation? Oh and strengths and weaknesses I guess. I'm pretty sure that's an interview question."

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | As they walked, Aldritch would attend to the questions, no matter how dubious they were. "Name's Aldritch Hexell. And um... I'm affiliated with LG. Uhh... strengths and weaknesses?... uhh..." He'd take a pause, one would think he might end up suspecting the questions, though in reality, he was just having a hard time to summarize his answer. "Umm.. Lots. On both." He'd say, rather terse on his answer. Must've been the alcohol kicking in.
He'd then start to observe the girl, looking closer, she seemed awfully familiar, though he was unsure as to where he had seen him. "I do think it's an interview question, yes." He'd say, nodding his head quite seriously after responding on her remark later after thinking about it. "I think the school interview did ask me that same thing, I think."

Siobhan blinked before stopping walking completely, turning to look at her new partner. Ah so that was why her initial reaction to him hadn't been so severe. Lightning gang was affiliated with Apex, her home base. Feeling the taught tension of professionalism relax in her shoulders, Siobhan gave him a less frosty look and re-shouldered her bag.
"Does Aldritch have a nickname like Al?"
Two words bounced around Siobhan's mind, distracting her from the rest of his answers to her mundane questions that were only meant as filters to soften the edge of the heavy questions she asked. Asking him about a nickname was a good way to buy her some time to think about how she wanted to approach this. Despite having a reason to be less hostile to him, Siobhan did have to wonder why he was out here, seemingly broke and borderline homeless. The Lightning Gang didn't seem like the type to leave members out on their own. A frown weaseled its way onto her face without her knowing, her look turning more pensive than friendly.
"How odd. Leon struck me as the kind of person who'd help out fellow members in need of aid."
At least, Knuckles gave Siobhan the impression that was how a proper gang should work. It wasn't like Apex would become allies with just any group of thugs either. The thought darkened her image of Leon and increased her suspicion for Aldritch. A hefty thing to announce yourself as part of the Lightning Gang for its perks without anything to back it up. An accusation like that would be grounds to get yourself killed. Well. That was how it worked in Siobhan's field.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Aldritch would give the girl a smile as she face him. "Yup, people do tend to call me that." He wondered if he had ever met the girl before, she was oddly familiar though, Aldritch wasn't really one to remember faces he had just saw glimpses of. "Al for Aldritch. Al for Albino.~" He'd say in a sing-song manner as he tucked both hands of his inside his pockets.
Aldritch would then ponder a bit on her next question. What she said was true, Leon wasn't one to keep his members hanging. Though he had an answer, some might call it a selfless act, some might call it foolish. "Well, he did insist on giving a portion of the supplies, yes. But I refused, I told him to distribute my shares to others. I am, after all, a sergeant on LG, I had to prioritize the needs of others. As one of the higher ups, and I guess my natural foolhardy nature driven me to do so. We didn't really expect this, so we are at a lack of supplies." He'd say, looking at the ground as he did.

Siobhan felt slightly foolish and a bit guilty suddenly. Of course that was the case. Everyone was struggling with the quarantining of the area, not just normal civilians. Though, not that they were to be discounted either. Hearing about the Lightning Gang's own struggle made her that much more grateful that Apex had welcomed her with open-arms. Give or take. Memories of playing Strip Fighting and a lot more dirty jokes to follow probably didn't land her in the open-arms category. Well, it was better than the other initiations she'd witnessed before. Turning to look at Al, Siobhan noticed his eyes were cast to the ground, making her frown at herself. Giving him a soft smile, she bumped into his shoulder with her elbow.
"A bit selfless are we? That mentality will get you killed. Look, you're hungry aren't you? Good thing too, because I want dinner before I head to my next pick-up. Care to escort a girl?"
Siobhan looked away feeling weird acting all warm and fuzzy. A naturally analytic person, emotion wasn't really something she specialized in. Tucking some of her hair behind her cheek, she felt slightly protective of Al. From what he had explained, the Apostles tight regulations were really choking out some of the gangs. Apex really needed to do something. They had landed the crate, but that only shifted the problems onto them. Sighing softly to herself, she quickly calculated a nearby place to eat that wouldn't shave off too many minutes of her delivery time.
"Do you like Mexican food?"

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | His mouth would water from thinking of all that delicious food. He nodded eagerly, free food and a good job? He had hit the jackpot, now all he needs is a house to stay at. "Anything with the word food sounds good to me." He'd say happily as he turned his head back to face her.
As they walked, the albino would ponder on something. "You sound like you know Leon, you know each other?" He'd ask casually as they walked to their destination. She knew much of him now, he had thought that it would only be fair to know more about her. Time for her interview

Siobhan grinned at his enthusiasm. Now that was something they could agree on. She truly was hungry, and while really she couldn't claim all the cash on her, it was a nice chunk. No one would get hurt if she splurged a bit on a fellow ally? The word ally bounced around. Huh. Who would've thought that it would be used so loosely now that she was a member of Apex. Well, guess that was just another favor she could chalk up to Valo's influence. Tucking a slip of her hair behind her ear, she continued following behind Al.
"Leon?"
Briefly memories of a certain someone's sexual assault trial and a specific lawyer with cereal filtered through her head.
"Oh yeah...", she looked off to the side with a dry look at the memory.
