"Alison, wanna play?"
Liv's hands shook as she took another sip of her drink, the bitter taste still not enough to silent the buzzing in the back of her mind. The whole bar was in a state of frenzy, but while chaos was her natural environment, feeling unsettled was not. For a moment, her entire demeanor changed into something akin to despair, despite the inadequate emotional response.
"I brought a couple of my friends this time. You don't mind do you?"
Lifting the glass above her eye level, she studied it silently, admiring how the light created a golden shine when reflected. Everything around her, in her mind, was completely silent, despite the pounding music and loud clamber of voices and people. Liv was nestled in the corner of the bar, steadily being fed a stream of poison, dwindling down on her paycheck for the week. At this rate, she'd have to pull in another day of work.
"What the hell? You've never minded before! Tsk, I'll just take my business elsewhere..."
Liv swallowed the last of the drink before standing abruptly, leaving the glass on the table. Her whole world swayed, the entire contents of the night being consumed while sitting. Liv had, most effectively, fucked herself over. In these parts of the District, if she got home without being bothered that would be a miracle.
"Shut up bitch, you're getting paid for it."
Trotting up to the bar, Liv leaned over the counter seductively, stretching out and beckoning the bartender over towards her. If she was going to die tonight, the least she could do for herself was drink away the last of her money.
