"One dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon."
She had no purpose. The girl often wondered if her objective was not truly to exist for her own reasoning but rather be forever a tool for others use. Oddly enough that idea no longer bothered her. What was independence to a crafted weapon stolen from its owner? Siobhan felt the heels of her hands press against her eyes.
What have I done?
And it was truly a despairing moment when one is to realize the catastrophic events in their life were direct results of their selfishness. What was Siobhan, if she did not take the lives of others? To which profession would she ever excel in besides causing misfortune to others? The girl had cursed herself, thrown from the heavens, and left a crater the size of the District.
Had she realized that day of scalding heat, unusual for the season that her demise was simply waiting at the receiving end of those notifications? Had there even been a hint of honesty in her reasoning for attending the public execution? Siobhan had curled in those motel blankets, knowing that death was pounding on her door, the scheduled date bearing down on her like the sunlight of that day.
"Use your heart like a weapon..."
An unfinished sentence mentioned by her tormentor, his sinister grin the only white on his utterly black appearance. Siobhan stared at him with dead eyes across the alleyway for a long moment before tipping her head back against the brick wall.
"And it hurts like heaven..."

Had he not seen the girl's form slip into the nearby alleyway, Xaier might had passed by without a second thought. However as he had continued move down the sidewalk, his curiosity got the best of him and he had glanced to the side to check her out. However Xaier would halt before he completely passed the alley. An uneasy feeling passing through him when those emerald hues catch sight of the name further down the way. Stepping forward toward her, his left hand would gently rest upon the girl's shoulder as Xaier stared toward opposite end of the alley.
"Siohban.. I thought I recognized you. What's up?" Xaier's emerald huea remained locked ahead of him. One never knew when the predators would strike or run away. Xaier waas attempting to make it appear as though he knew this girl better than he actually did. However a short whisper would be spoken into her ear, low enough that even she would just barely pick the words up. "Are you okay here?"
Xaier would remain staring down the alley as he awaited her answer. Who knew what might have happened or still could happen. But it seemed to Xaier he might have been in the right place, at the right time. He might not know her well, but if she was in trouble he could not turn a blind eye to it.

Siobhan's heart leaped into her throat, a scream clogging in her throat right behind it before trapping itself in her chest. At most, Xaier would notice her sudden lapse in breathing before the girl blinked slowly and resumed respiration. She didn't miss the cackles echoing in her ears, amusement burning in the undertone. Arching an eyebrow, Siobhan made a show of surveying Xaier from head-to-toe before finally leaving her eyes on his hand, still touching her shoulder.
"Easy boy. What's got you on guard?"
Taking a flying leap at the emotions which had forced the contemplation of her own existence, Siobhan buried them deep in the underwater sands of her mind, hoping to pass off as just tired. There was never a shortage of exhaustion around here, but that was a better excuse than flaunting the internal rotting of her mind. The smell was horrid, the demons were vivid, and it took all of Siobhan's willpower to muster up an amused look at Xaier and ignore the comments coming from her left side. Whatever his response, she planned on laughing lightly in hopes of easing his defense.
"He won't be able to save you either. Cling to him- and watch him die like all the others."
The comment hit harder than Siobhan would've expected, her heart stuttering before the amused look turned into a grimace. She turned her head away hopefully before Xaier had the chance to watch the flip in expressions. For a moment, Siobhan stared down the long stretch of the alley, struggling with her own torment.
"Tell me, Xaier, do you believe in ghosts?"
While his reply would probably give her no aid, the truth was smeared in her face, the man haunting her for days scrutinizing the only physical company Siobhan was in the presence of, before leaning over to whisper in her ear. And no matter what the apparition said, it wouldn't matter, for Xaier couldn't hope to understand that the darkness Siobhan had carried for years finally made its way out into the open. Even if Siobhan couldn't touch her demons, they could touch her, and no one was able to see them.
