My phone chimed letting me know what it was time to head out. I hadn't heard back from Teufel yet and I was beginning to get worried. I couldn't think of him now though. It had been only two days since we landed in San Francisco, there was still plenty time to get him here to me safely. Pushing those thoughts aside, I made my way through my dorm room to the closet in the corner. Stefan would have surely scoffed at the sight of me in a small room. He would have also thrown a conniption at my being 'forced' to stay in this 'inferior establishment.' I could hear him now.
"Sir, please reconsider moving to an establishment better fit for your stature. This place..." He would have shuddered before saying the next part. "It is for commoners. Please, my Marquis. Please give it some thought. You deserve better." I could imagine him muttering something else like "And so do I."
I grinned at the closet. I needed to find something to wear. Something that I would be able to blend in wearing. Something inconspicuous. Not that it mattered now. My uncle, if it was indeed him, was hunting for me and it was only a matter of time before they would follow the paper trail and find me here. I eventually settled on a simple outfit. After assuring that I was properly dressed and would blend in well, I would make my way to the bathroom and start with my hair. My spikes were my signature, right? I had to loose them then. I parted my hair on the left and combed it over. After I had achieved the 'Ken' look, as I had heard so many women talk about, I headed out the door. Pausing just before I exited, I grabbed my keys, phone and cologne.
Hailing a Taxi, I gave him directions to the park overlooking the school on the closest side of the city. It was close enough that I wasn't relly heading into San Francisco but far enough that I wouldn't have to worry about eaves dropping students. Even though I wasn't hiding, I was still keeping up the charade that I was. It was more for personal benefit than for necessity. I sat on the bench and waited. Soon the PI I had hired sat on the bench next to me with a phone to his ear. Picture for reference
"Greetings Mister Bellerose. I have the items you have requested."
He looked around as if searching for someone before talking back into the phone and sitting back, relaxing. I looked to my other side, smiling to myself. He was way over acting this.
"I have contacts in France that have observed you Uncle Montillier at dinner with one of the men tailing you. I have pictures here, should you want them."
He placed a manila envelope on the seat next to him before looking past me searching for someone again. He'd wave at some one before sitting back again.
"You may see in the photos here that the man is easily identified as the man tailing you earlier. I have those photos as well for reference."
I picked up the envelope and looked over the images. My heart sank. It was my uncle and I recognized the man he was eating with. It was an exact match. I flipped to the next photo. Same thing. I proceeded to look through the remaining photos, almost praying it wasn't true. I didn't want it to be him. Kyou was right all along. Dammit.
"Is there any way you might have been wrong?"
I knew what his answer would be but I prayed it would be different. Alas... It was what I had feared.
"There is no mistaking it. My contacts in France are very thorough. I am sorry. I wish I had better news." He paused for a moment before continuing. "My work here is done, unless you'd like to hire me for something else."
"No. You have done all I have asked. Thank you,Liam Simon."
I slid a thick white envelope into his hands, uncaring about who could see.
"It has been a pleasure working with you, Marquis. Good bye and good luck."
When I looked over, he was gone. I sat there for another while, dumbfounded.
"My own uncle..."
