A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

[Ooc: Is it still ok? If not pm me I'll delete it with no problem. Wanted to early just work was hell, but it's cool if not. No biggies ^_^]
--- Why Cereza had this class on her schedule at all she didn't know. Not that she wasn't musically inclined she did play the piano and had a singing voice on her but it just wasn't something she often presented to the masses. Singing especially was something kept privately within her home and mainly done to entertain and put to sleep her niece. Must've been some joke to throw her into the fray but challenge accepted. Dawning her usual attire with her white fedora promptly resting on her head, hair tucked in for that short haired illusion effect. Considering it wasn't on her schedule originally she actually was just a tad bit late, coming in at the point of the band teacher speaking about how not enough teachers did the whole introduction thing and then proceeded to introduce himself. Cereza disagreed with that statement as just about all her classes did this introduction thing and honestly the more and more information they wanted the more it sounded like they were making a Match.com profile. Hearing the enthusiasm of Mr.Matthews she figured Ecko would love this teacher if they ever met. Now considering she wasn't going to pick up some random wind instrument she had no idea who touched it before, like if the mouth pieces were switched out like they were supposed to be so that was a no go. Considering the piano was occupied she would just find the simplest instrument, a pair of maracas, and took a seat either in front or behind Sarah and Asch. (Depending where in the row they are seated). With a soft exhale Cereza indulged in the introduction process but really not much of it.
"Name's Cereza.. Hailing from New York.. I picked the Maracas because it's a stereotypical instrument of my culture for me to use so why the hell not right?"
--- She would say with a shrug and a smirk awaiting for what was next. Deciding whether she was truly serious or not, well who knew. But that was Cereza, typically unreadable, witty and sarcastic at times.

As the teacher spoke, Zoe frowned, looking down with a soft sigh. So this wasn't going to be a proper music class. Her eyes closed half way as she suddenly looked rather depressed. He wanted her to rip up sheet music...? But... Sheet music was an expression of the author's soul. It was the musicians purpose to play the expression and make it their own. Otherwise, well, they were just making noise. What kind of music class was this? Music was like any other skill or talent, if you didn't put in the hard work, what was the point!?
When it was her turn, Zoe bit down on her lower lip. She still hadn't torn up her sheet music. Staring at the teacher, she gulped, a sweat drop dripping down her forehead. ”M... my name is Zoe and I... I refuse to tear up the sheet music...” she mumbled, looking down as her face paled. Her green eyes would shift up, locking onto the teacher's. Taking in a deep breath, Zoe began to speak, her face red as her voice trembling.
”Your way of teaching.... it wont help anyone learn or get better! What's the point of playing from your heart if it means trampling over the expression of others written on the sheet music?! What you want everyone to do is make noise- not something that others can enjoy and hear the hard work put into learning how to play it properly! There's no work! There's no gratification of finally playing a tune properly or seeing someone smile as they hear your music!”
“Is your faith in the ability for us to play or learn properly really so low!? Do you think we're all idiots!? You might as well be asking us to play with noise makers like five year olds for an hour!”

Kyou watched as one of the other students--a girl that he had seen around the school before and knew to be Zoe--refused to rip up the music sheets and claimed that it was going to do them no good to do so. He gave a faint smile as she spoke with passion--something he didn't see too often. He wasn't passionate toward music like she seemed to be, but even he had to agree with everything that she had said. In fact, he couldn't have agreed more. When she finished talking, Kyou clapped his hands together, not wanting to right out yell, "I agree!" but not wanting her to think she was alone in where she stood. Thinking things over while he clapped, he then changed his mind and said, "I completely agree with that proclamation."

"Change seats? No, no, no. To see love blossoming... OH!" Brian gasped. "It's truly amazing indeed." He frowned at Kyou's statement. "Music has to mean something to you. Has to. Do you think that it's just pointless sound? That, that, we were given ears just for appearance? I mean... music has had to make you feel something before. Ah well. It's alright. You were honest and that's what's best."
Every time someone answered, Ronald would nod respectively, not really minding the odd answers, so long as they seemed truthful themselves. He smiled at Zoe's response. "Okay. You don't have to, I don't mind."
"Zoe. I only wanted music in this class to be free, like a bird~ For every single student to play as they wish. I guess it wasn't fair for me to force you to rip up the sheets but it was only my way of saying you don't have to be embarrassed of how you play, or your capabilities, or talent in general. As for playing from the heart... How do you think some music was created? Do you think the writer just wrote down notes and played them according to what the paper in front of them read without any inspiration from their very soul? No, ... well eh in some cases." Brian shrugged and laughed nervously. "I believe in order to create music, you have to do it yourself, without relying on notes. Instead relying on complete feeling."
"I'll always be smiling at someone's work if I feel it means something to them, or if they express it like so. I see you're a student that likes to follow orders, or so it seems. If you dislike this class because of the way I teach, feel free to play as you wish. I do expect you to play, but if you want to follow already written music, music that may or may not mean anything to you at all except for something to follow, then go ahead. It won't change your grade. Promise."
"This class was meant for self-expression and your own preferred music style. How about we take a vote? I don't mind which way it goes since I've prepared for either. With a raise of hands, show me who wants to learn how to play their instrument successfully, and who wants to play out their heart's content and show me what's really on the inside."
[OOC: If you want to learn, write a 1 at the bottom of your post in OOC. If you want to play freely, write a 2 at the bottom in OOC.]

Kyou deadpanned after the teacher finished speaking. "So I really shouldn't have ripped up those papers. Even if I did learn the basics to music, I have no creativity skills, so I can't really write my own songs... I shouldn't have ripped up the music sheets! Now I have nothing to go off of!" He sighed inwardly to himself. "Oh well." He looked up at the teacher, raising his hand for wanting to be taught actual lessons ((ooc: 1 I CHOSE YOU!!)). "I'd prefer that you taught us in class how to actually create, read, and preform music properly. Music doesn't mean much to me as of right now, but that's only because I've never gotten involved in it--I never said it was uninteresting or didn't sound good. But I'm no poet who can give whimsical answers on things like what music means to them... However, if you could teach me how to preform musical instruments properly, then I'll find a song someone else wrote that means something to me. If you don't teach us how to do that, then that's fine. I'm sure I could figure it out on my own if I tried hard enough and thought about it with enough detail. And then, while I'm practicing and learning outside of school, during class, I can just read instead of embarrassing myself in front of the whole class that can hear every mistake I make. King Arthur and the Round Table is such an interesting tale--I'd rather do that anyhow." His eyes widened and then he sighed. "Oops... That came off as kind of rude... Sorry--I meant no disrespect, honestly..."

"Yeah, I know. I cost by the minute though so careful how long you look, Red." She stuck her tongue out playfully before turning her attention back to the teacher. "I don't know about love, but hey if nothing else I'll just have a little ego boost for the rest of the day." She gave a short laugh before returning her undivided to the teacher.
Sarah thought about the idea between learning how to play her instrument and playing to her hearts content. She looked around at everyone else's instrument and decided that she'd have to actually speak up to give her input, "I mean that's not fair for me I got the triangle, I don't think anyone would tell the difference between hearts content and sheet music. So uh, I abstain from voting! Pretend I'm not in the room."
She looked back to Asch, "Except for you, you may continue noticing me. I know I said it cost, but you can pay in compliments."

Asch chuckled lightly at the teacher's saying he was in love. As if! Asch didn't peronally believe he could ever fall in love... But for whatever reason, if he did, it wouldn't be with some chick he randomly met. "Well, I don't really care to have any lessons, so... I guess I'd rather have the class be free-range! Yup. So I vote for #2," he said. He then turned his attention back to Sarah. "I can pay you in compliments...? Well, that's good! I was afraid if I did have to pay in cash, I'd be broke by the end of the day! But I can handle compliments. It's pretty much my specialty, ya?" He winked at her before a thought came to mind, and he smirked slightly at himself. "Unless it's seaweed-head. But he's not a girl, so I'm more okay with not acting gay and complimenting him all the time."

--- As she lazily yet somehow poised sat within her seat her eyes shifted to Zoe's sudden outburst. A musical enthusiast indeed. The only real reason Cereza gave it any attention was for sheer entertainment and learning a little something about someone. Not that the girl meant anything to her hell she seen her until this very class, but Cereza was a people watcher. She was always the perceptive one whether in or out of combat it was just something in her nature to be. Listening her eyes would shift towards the teacher who addressed Zoe's words though probably not as much as Cereza would've had she been in the teachers position. Then again she was holding her tongue deciding to just go with the flow of the class and move on with her day. Without words she merely placed up two fingers for the second option. Her eyes shifted to the pair of red heads before her and smirked listening to Sarah and this Asch person.
"Careful Sarah you might get a stalker out of it."
--- Cereza spoke jokingly. If Sarah looked back to Cereza she would wink and give a little shake of her maracas.

Asch chuckled to himself lightly, smirking at Cereza. "What? Me? A stalker? How'd you guess??" He laughed and shook his head. "Naw. After school I'd probably just wanna go home. No need to stay here, and there's no need to follow around girls I don't know just because they're pretty. I'm not like that."

"My name is Namina, I'm from New York and I picked the Bass because I'm very good at playing it." Namina grabs the music sheets and rips them in half, then places the pieces on the ground.

"No one will learn anything by just banging on the instruments without knowing even the basics! Even the great bands started with the basics! Even Nirvana, who played together with little to no experience learned the basics of their instruments! It's like expecting someone to paint without paint! Or to dance without legs! Mister Matthews, how can you be so irresponsible!?" she asked, narrowing her eyes as she stared at him.
"You're not teaching anything here! You're just being lazy and irresponsible and claiming it's creative freedom!"

Thee entire situation felt like a movie. White, free-spirited teacher goes to an inner city school to save its delinquent students and teach them the importance of love, friendship, and learning or hell, this could be a knock off of School of Rock sans Jack Black. If it weren't PHS #552 this would be too much for the young African-American.
Everyone seemed to be in agreement that the free spirit wouldn't cut it in a classroom where peopled expected teachers to teach their students so when Mr. Matthews took a survey of how he ought to instruct the class, most chose the first option. Though he saw the appeal of the second option, Varus didn't see the merit in it. Playing music without refinement was just noise and even as someone who grew up on unrefined hip-hop and rap he knew that there was a refinement process to properly express the feelings inside of him.
Still...that saxophone girl was being awfully rude.
"Dude calm down that's just your opinion man," he snapped, "I agree we should learn first but it's not lie he's forcing you to press random buttons n' blow."

Sage looks lazily at everyone, then he speaks up. "I'd prefer to freestyle it, cause what's the point of playing someones music, it's just copying. Besides, you wouldn't be original, but then no one is anyways." He finishes speaking and goes back to twirling his drumstick in his hand. He listens to the others and is a bit disappointed whenever someone says they want to play from the script.

[OOC: Sorry for a late reply >.>]
Brian listened intently to his students, feeling a little pang in his heart that hurt his feelings with some of the spoken words, a sparks here and there when another student instead enlightened him. He waved Kyou's comment off. "Rude? That was an extremely polite way to put your opinion!~ Never be afraid to raise your voice, or opinion, because even if you don't think so your opinion matters." He offered a bright smile to the male student. Now cue a response to Sarah. "The triangle is a very important instrument, believe it or not. But I can understand where you're coming from."
"I do believe some have learned by doing so." Brian commented respectfully after Zoe let off some more steam. He dislike the way she snapped like that, not coming off as polite like Kyou had. "Ms. Zoe, I don't like the way you're treating me. You have no idea how hard I've worked, how hard it was to even get to teach my one true passion in life, so you have no right to refer to me as lazy. I've given more than enough reasons as to why I'm teaching this way. Also... irresponsible? I don't think so. How you hurt me with such words." Brian sighed loudly, obviously hurt, and strummed a string that emitted a low pitched sound from the amp.
"3 for learning, 4 for playing, 1 neutral." He laughed at the neutral part, shaking his head before speaking again. "Since we do seem to be very close in votes, I'll do what I should have done from the start, though I originally thought there'd be no need to." Brian cleared his throat and adjusted the goggle-like glasses sitting upon his nose. "The first half will consist of teaching, the second half free-will!" He clapped and smiled. "Though, Zoe, I'd like to speak to you privately after class. Anyways, here's your sheets music previously ripped up." Brian snickered while placing his guitar back on its stand in the back, grabbing a stack of papers from a drawer in his desk. "Pass it down the rows." He gave it to the first student and motioned for them to take one and pass it down. "For those who dislike learning in general, I plan to make this fun, so no worries~"
