A brand new group is on the making, The Apostles, a Pillar-like group led by none other than our brand new headmaster, Gregoire Girard. A student body that would lead students and enforce the law on this little school of ours. Little is still known about this student body, but who knows? It might just be what the school needs.

A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

[OoC: Lock your stats in your first post. The stats you begin the tournament with are the stats you will end the tournament with. No items of any kind, and no Qi allowed. Participants must post within 24 hours of each other. Failure to do so leads to disqualification. If there is no clear winner within five days of the fight being posted, it will be decided by Staff through a grading rubric. This is a no holds barred fight, so if you feel the need to break some limbs, you go ahead and break some limbs. Post your entrance in the first round, and go ahead and start fighting as soon as you like. Let's get crackin'.]
The participants of the tournament would be hit by blinding lights as doors opened before them, revealing the large arena they would be fighting in. Despite being an underground ring, the audience was large an the venue looked rather expensive, the cage itself looking like out of UFC. The cage itself was roughly ten yards in width, making a pentagonal shape. The floor remained padded, but that was the extent of the protection the fighters were going to get.
"Iiiiin the red corner, we have the quietest little dude you've ever seen, and when we say little, we mean little - HIROSHIIIIII SAAAAAAAITOOOOOOOO!" The crowd roared out loudly, and the announcer waited to announce the second combatant. "Iiiiin the blue corner, one of the least known faces at the local delinquents' highschool, this guy will come out of nowhere and spout some shit, VARUUUUS WILLIAAAAAAMS!" Once more, the crowd would cheer as the combatants entered the cage from either side. The announcer would eye them both with a smug grin on his face. "Remember fellas, it ain't over till one of you taps or just caaaan't get back up! BAREKNUCKLE BEATDOOOWN! LET'S GOOOOOOO!"
With that, the announcer stepped back to the edge of the cage and threw a flag down to signify that the fight had begun.

"Alright, alright, alright, alright!" Varus exclaimed as he half-walked, half-skipped out onto the stage.
His left hand was waving toward the crowd (read: his brother) while clasping his other in a fist. His opponent was someone named "Hiroshi Saito", a presumably Japanese guy that he'd never met before. He supposed that he himself wasn't that well-known either but apparently he had a reputation for "spouting shit." Not...untrue but he kind of wished he was known for more than that.
Hell, he was glad people even spelled his name right.
As he met his opponent in the cage he let a small smirk grace his lips.
"May the best dude win."
He would wait for his opponent to make the first move, both curious and excited at what the other would bring.

Why was she even here? Katsumi had a deadpan as she stood in the red corner, a droplet of sweat running down the back of her head. The rogue was a killer, not a damned brawler. While completely covered in her typical garb, adorned in an oversized hoodie, hood up and covering her face, and with a long-sleeved boy's uniform shirt beneath (and her chest bound beneath that.) While often wearing loose jeans or a boy's uniform pants, instead the cross-dressing girl was in athletic sweats and wore sneakers. Yet, despite being entirely covered, Katsumi felt naked without her bow or, especially, her knives. No, all she had here was her tiny fists, and the girl thought angrily back to whatever compelled her to get involved in this fucking thing, internally seething at herself, What the fucking hell was I thinking?!
Oh, that's right. She did it to support her lover, Sebastian. He was excited about the tournament and had joined it, and wanted her to enter with him. While it was not her thing in the least, (Katsumi was a killer, after all! An assassin who hid in the shadows and went for kill strikes! Not some fighter! Some brawler!) she eventually agreed, if only to please him. He did so much for her after all. But now that all 4'9" of her was actually standing in the caged ring and her alias and some introduction was broadcasted and there were thrilled screams, the disguised Katsumi twitched and groaned.
"Goddamnit," she muttered, head hanging down. Katsumi brought a hand to her face and she sighed heavily, shaking her head. "Fuck my life..."
The petite Japanese girl took a few steps forward, face shrouded by the shadows of the hood. She stopped some distance in front of the boy and stared up at him with dark eyes before dropping her gaze. Instead of giving a verbal response, Katsumi merely bowed her head and got into a defensive stance, remaining light on her feet. She, however, would not be the one to make the first strike, remaining still, just as he was. It was not her style, instead her cautious hues watching her opponent, taking him all in, watching for even the slightest twitch to tell her what to do.
Would it remain at a standstill? Who would be the first to move...?
And suddenly the match became an intense staring contest...! A fight a willpower! LOL! xDDD

So that's how he wanted to play the game eh?
The man (a boy really) in front of him didn't make much of a move, opting to bow and remain just as still as Varus. While he had the size disadvantage, Varus knew not to underestimate his opponents based only on physicality. He couldn't see much of his opponent's face so he could potentially be riddled with battle scars, a cybernetic eye, or a hidden blade of some sort. Granted, items weren't allowed in this (hence the name "Bareknuckle Beatdown") but this wasn't the first time he attended a fighting circuit. People pulled all sorts of stuff to get ahead.
In the background he could hear the cheering quiet down into hushed whispers of anticipation, or well...one whisper. The rest were probably growing bored and if he were in the audience, Varus likely would've yelled for somebody to throw a punch.
"Things are harder in the cage eh?" he asked, more to himself than Hiroshi.
I better not regret this, he sighed as he decided to make the first move.
He rushed forward and grabbed Hiroshi's shoulders, intent on slamming him down. If he was successful he would bringing up his knee strike the short guy in the lower abdomen.

Katsumi was ready for the charge and stayed in place as he went forward, narrowing her dark eyes. When her opponent came near, she pivoted and ducked low, slamming her elbow into his stomach. Bracing her knees, as she hit his abdomen, the petite figure brought up the hand of her free arm and used the momentum of his charge to bring Varus over her shoulder.

The prediction was real or at least the adaptation was. Varus came short of grabbing the young boy and paid for it. The blonde boy barely moved his arm in time to block a direct hit but still got thrown over the shorter guy's shoulder. Still, Varus managed to recover from his fall and stood with his hands up. He took a more defensive stance this time, shifting more weight into his legs. This wasn't a battle to be won by brawling alone. Hiroshi was one of those "I'll wait for my opponent to charge and then deflect them" types that were ever so annoying in video games but still less annoying than some guy trying to hug him every time he got close. He aimed a quick punch at Hiroshi's throat before pulling back and delivering a spinning for his lower back. If he was successful he would go on to punch with his other hand.

As soon as she brought down Varus, having him land on his back, the disguised girl would jump back. As the boy got up and would move to strike, Katsumi would quickly create another long distance, utilizing the large space of the arena.
Katsumi was incredibly small, a rogue, and she played to it. She had to. In a fist-fight, close quarters were not her strength. Her reach was short and the girl was far from strong. But Katsumi was light on her feet and had a great deal of endurance. While small, so it was perhaps more unexpected, Katsumi had a great deal of stamina; Sebastian had made certain of that (ahem.) She could dance around, evading moves for long periods, wearing out her opponent and forcing them to rush her and utilize more of their energy, which she would use against them and bring them down. Again and again.
Yet that didn't leave her cocky. Far from it in fact. It was not a fool-proof plan. None were. But it was best suited to her, and so Katsumi remained cautious, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet and keeping her distance.

He wasn't taunting Varus, but he was sure being annoying. The point of a cage brawl was to throw caution to the wind and punch each other until either one or both of them passed out.
"Come on man. If you want to fight, then fight!" he groaned, "either come at me or tap out."
He closed the distance once more, going for a straight kick at the boy's throat. If nothing else, he could try cornering him.

"Participants must post within 24 hours of each other. Failure to do so leads to disqualification."
Due to not posting in over 3 hours, Katsumi Shinomori loses by default. Varus Williams moves on to round two. Both fighters receive +1 exp.
