“Art club…
Why did I pick art club?
I picked this club because it is the only club where you can absolutely suck at everything you do…
Yet you will always still be doing it perfectly”
- Anthem Grey
- ART CLUB -
PART 1 – Art club, a way to ‘expresses yourself’ In other ways then violence.
Four days ago, when the list of Extra-curricular activities was presented to Anthem, he looked up and down the list about seventeen times before making his grand decision:
“TRACK AND FIELD! YES!”
… Of course by the title of this thread you can tell that’s not what he ended up doing… at least not yet...
“UGHGHH! --SHOOT… I have baseball practice those days…”
After receiving a strange look from the guidance counsellor, he returned to the list in a quieter manner.
He had no clue what to do… he wanted a sport… but he didn’t want the competition… but then, all the other clubs either didn’t interest him or were on days of the week he couldn’t attend.
“How about I just put you in art club,”
said the counsellor.
She has been here with Anthem for the past 45 minutes. She told him that nobody is leaving until he is definitely enrolled into a club.
“They don`t have many members… and I bet it`s fun… you get to learn how to draw and it`s also a way ‘expresses yourself’ ...but on a canvas… Personally, I think it`d would be helpful for a lot of students here… since a majority seem to think it`s best to ‘express themselves’ through violence - as if there’s no other way”
She smiled to herself as she filed papers at her desk.
Anthem stared at her from the other side – slouched in a chair.
Anthem thought for a moment. He thought hard. Then he smiled
“okay then…”
--
“Good. You`ll like it, Trust me.”
--
“I know”
PART 2 - DAY1DAY1DAY1
When he arrived in the art room he was surprised to not see anyone….
Though he really shouldn’t have been … (since art club ended fifth teen minutes ago… However, the door was still open.)
After peeking inside the room through the doors window for a while – he decided to go inside. Following his dramatic opening of the door, he waltzed in with a bright smile on his face and glistening eyes –
The ART room ~ he’s never been here before! Yet it felt so amazing to him; all these stacks of paper, bottles of paint, the VIBE!~ As stated before, he’s no artist – but he still loved the idea of creating something out of nothing – and THAT is art.
----- “TIME TO GET STARTED ”
At that, he whipped out his dollar store sketch book and slammed it onto nearby table – the cover shined under the terrible lighting in the room – he liked that. He pulled up a stool and sat.
“Oh I need a pencil…”
He reached over across to another table to retrieve a pencil that seemed to have been left – it was short, dull and crusty, but it will do.
“… what to draw… what to draw … you know what,"
he said to himself
“I’ll start off easily with drawing a dog~ easy and simple~”
And so he got to IT…. A custodian made his way into the room at one point to clean – Anthem leaned over and showed the man his work so far, the man said it was nice, but the legs needed work…
Anthem took that advice to heart and crossed it out to start over.
5 minutes passed by the time he was done…
BA BAM!!
And... well... i'd love to say that he was proud of it, since he worked so hard.... but he wasn't.
"AHUHa ahah ha--"
(Anthem is better at and prefers drawing people...)
"THis LOOKS LIKE THE WOrk of a seven year old!.."
He laughed... then He frowned.
"I can't let anyone see this...."
He closed his book, but the pencil in his back pack then made his way out the room...
"I'll try harder next time..." yeah... he willl.
