A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

Saya didn't budge, quite rigid at the mention of her sister. Despite Phoebes attempt at caring and being her friend, Saya would walk forward and take the front of her shirt in her hands. She would back the girl up and slam her into the wall- not hard enough for serious damage, but hard enough to drive some wind from her.
"Let me be clear, girl. I tolerate inquiries about me because I understand human nature, as irritating as it is. But do not mention Shiyo again. I will make sure your jaw is wired shut if you do."
She would stare into Phoebes eyes, waiting for acceptance.

Phoebe didn't flinch as Saya took hold of her shirt, though she understandably winced and her breath left her lungs in a 'whoosh' after the girl she referred to as a friend slammed her into the wall. She coughed just a little and panted once, then slowed her breathing. Her ribs twinged, faintly...but, the threat of pain that Saya was giving her wasn't a deterrent. If anything, it all showed she was on the right - but very rocky - path.
And now she knew Saya's little sister's name.
Saya would find no fear or acceptance of those terms in Phoebe's eyes. Instead, the stubbornness lingered, bright, along with no small amount of determination.
"No. What would Shiyo say to you if she saw you threatening me, or anyone, that didn't deserve it? I might be wrong, but I don't think she'd appreciate it!"
Because goodness knew, if she was dead and Allen was threatening some people that were trying to show they cared about him, she would be rolling over in her grave!

Saya would lean her face in just a little, her cold and unfeeling demeanor gone, replaced with quiet rage. Her voice would be a whisper.
"Shiyo wouldn't say anything. She's dead. I don't know what kind of person she would be now, because she's dead. And I sure as hell wouldn't be here talking to you. But I am, because shes dead."
Saya would turn and pushed Phoebe away, opening the door and jutting with her thumb.
"Now get out."

Phoebe didn't quake or shrink away from Saya - though admittedly her heart quickened with some nervousness at the surfacing anger - but stood her ground. Maybe it would be a good thing for Saya to have a dose of what she had dished out to Leon. The push that had her taking two and a half steps back decided it.
"It doesn't matter that you don't know what kind of person she would be today. All that matters is the type of person you knew her as—the little sister you keep safe inside your heart!" Phoebe would gesture, her hand coming very close to touching Saya as she pointed at Her heart with her words. "'cause that's how you knew her! That's how you remember her. That's how you love her! The what ifs of how she might be now doesn't matter in comparison, so don't use it as an excuse!"
Saya might have thought her too naive to know, but Phoebe wasn't a stranger to loss. She only had a vague memory or two of her father. But she'd watched her mother struggle and suffer and lament and neglect her children. Those dim memories of her dad were held closely to herself. She had some memories of her mother from then, and, compared to what she'd experienced in the years that followed...well, she'd gained a bit of wisdom beyond her years from it.

Sayas face dropped her anger. She went utterly cold.
"You just aren't getting it, are you?"
She would shut the door again slowly.
"I asked you to to stop talking about her, and to leave. You want to push me, you have succeeded."
She would walk forward and attempt to grab Phoebe by the face with her right hand in the same manner as she had Leon. She would attempt to slam Phoebe onto her back on the table, then drive her left elbow downward, in an attempt to smash the girl through the table.
Man, seems Saya had a problem with tables this week.

Oh no. Phoebe was getting it. And she knew what she was doing and getting into.
"Saya...I'm not afraid of you." She spoke firmly, not edging away. She was, certainly, some kind of crazy-fearless. She didn't want to get hurt, of course, and knew Saya could and would likely heavily damage her. But she didn't and wouldn't shrink away. But even then...she wasn't particularly afraid. Though she started to bob, Saya would indeed catch her face—but she wasn't going to go down so easily. Her hand snapped upwards, moving her palm up to catch Saya's elbow and hopefully make her let go, even if it wound up scratching her face in the process. At the same time she would use the leg to the outside to try and knock Saya's foot out from under her by catching her knee.
She might still be flung or land on the table, but hopefully without the followup, and hopefully with enough time to get back up.

"Never asked you to be."
Phoebe was quickly plummeting into the darker sides of Saya. It had nothing to do with anger. For Saya, it had to do with respect. Saya would, as Phoebe pushed her arm up, switch the knee to snap out a kick for Hollows' sternum. She'd kick it so hard, it would send the girl blasting through the table entirely.
She would stare at her form, hair hanging in front of her eyes. She would turn and lock the door, watching Phoebe's form.
"What do you want?"
As in, why won't you leave me alone?

CRACK.
Phoebe's breath left her in a whoosh, between the kick - did she feel something give and pop? - and her collision with the table. Amidst the rubble, she lay, dazed. Panting.
She couldn't tell with the initial shock if something had snapped from the force of Saya's attack. Slowly, she lifted her arms, trying to find an edge she could use to haul herself into a more upright position. She groaned a little, the motion hurting but, letting her know there was at least one sharp splinter digging against her back. Maybe even cutting into it.
But...it didn't stop her from trying to sit up. Even if she was still wheezing a little, still bringing her breathing back to something normal.
"...to be a friend. Even if you don't see me as one." She managed, after a moment. Even if Saya didn't see her as one. She'd like it better if Saya did, obviously, but knew there was no forcing her into it. "...to show empathy, too. Because that's what a friend does."
And it was, at the end of the day, as simple as that. Could she manage to get up? Or was Saya pressing the attack now that she locked the door? Her senses and breath were coming back. She really didn't want to be laying, prone, and defenseless.

Saya would stare, eyes cold. A friend. Of course. Everyone wanted to be buddy buddy with her. Leon needed to beat her in order to understand. Steven wanted to have a compatriot and a good ally, someone he could count on and be trained by. Mark just needed to know who was stronger. And Phoebe wanted to be her friend. Saya would walk forward and grab a chair, sliding it over and in front of Phoebe and having a sit. She'd cross her legs.
"Don't misunderstand my attacks. Or misconstrue it as anger. But from here, I am going to tell you a story. And you'll insist that life can't be lived the way I live it, after. You'll insist you are different or that I am wrong. That I have to change and have people. But I am not negotiating with my companionship- I'm telling you why, if you don't leave after, I will put you out physically."
She brushed a little dust from the collapsed table off her and would begin.
"Three years ago, I had a family. I had friends. I was...quite similar to you, actually. I enjoyed socializing, networks...things of that nature. My sister, Shiyo, was eight or nine. She was a quiet girl who kept to herself. Read books and all that. I loved her. Two years ago, my parents decided they wanted to go on a skiiing trip. They planned it with me, and I was so excited, because it was for my birthday. I chose the tougher side of the mountain, to push myself. I liked that sort of thing. Shiyo would stay with family friends, as it was an event for me and it was to be special, I guess."
She turned her eyes toward the wall and continued.
"The day we were supposed to go, I came down with the flu. My parents had already left, in order to set things up for my surprise party. They called and planned to come back- but I wouldn't have it. I not only convinced them to stay, I talked Shiyo into going for me. I told her...that she had to make sure my birthday was celebrated. She didn't want to. We talked and talked...and I got her to go. A week later, I was better and she was dead."
She turned her eyes back down to Phoebe.
"Almost a year ago, I joined Riot Squad. In three months, I was leading it with a man named Brian. We fought all the time, but within a couple of months, we became best friends. He seemed to have a way to fight his way into my head. Argued in a way...actually quite similar to you. Talking about my sister. Talking about how I needed someone there for him. How not letting somebody in was a mistake. That being alone was a mistake. That he was different than the others that turned their back on me. And that I had to take a step. Just one. Four months ago, he stabbed me in the back."
She would lean forward, cocking an eyebrow.
"So please, tell me exactly how you will be different. Tell me how you want to be my friend. But you will forgive me if I don't take your words on faith."
She would stand.
"There. Now you have your touchy feely moment, Hollows. And you have enough to know to leave me the fuck alone."
She'd walk for her room, changing her mind about putting her out physically.
"See yourself out."

Saya spoke of Phoebe misunderstanding and misconstruing things. But, really, Saya herself was actually doing quite the splendid job of it. When Phoebe spoke, she spoke of herself: her own actions, her own feelings. Thus, she had tacked on the "even if you don't". It wasn't some jab, some dig at Saya refusing to see, denying she had a friend.
But she listened to the tale, biting down interruptions and words, before and during and after. Her eyes bright we, but with tears. Of course Saya would blame herself. It's what she said without directly stating it.
She remained seated. Partially because she was stubborn. Partially because she wasn't sure she was ready to.
She spoke quietly, but audibly, her expression quiet, but, not entirely sad.
"I have to wonder...when I said any of that to you, at all..."
Phoebe had never been the kind to say (though she had made a small exception in Austin's case to cheer him up), but rather, simply showed via her actions by caring for someone. Or being happy for and with them, being sad with them. Trying to cheer them up. All sorts and manners of things. She couldn't say she was different than this Brian.
But one difference was, or so it seemed to her, that she had no malicious intent. But she didn't say, as it would only feed what Saya said. So she left it at that.

Saya's reply would come as she walked away.
"It's implied with the word 'friend'."
Phoebe was insisting they be such- so trust, understanding, compassion and yes, empathy- it was all inferred in that word whether it was spoken or not. Especially with Saya. Friendship meant so much more to her because she had been betrayed so much. So simply calling her friend and trying to force that to be a reality meant you were signing the terms- which included those specifications.
Saya would turn inside her room a close the door, backing up to the far wall until her spine hit it, before lowering herself to the ground. She would stay there for a while, spacing off, until Phoebe left.

The brunette shook her head a little, but didn't press the issue for now. She remained silent; Saya could take that for what she wanted, too.
Eventually, Pheebs gathered her feet well beneath herself and would rise to her feet with a severe wince. She looked at the table with her back twitching in mild pain and plenty of stinging discomfort... She quietly picked up the large splinters and fragments...and tucked them into the trash before unlocking and opening the door...and locking it again before stepping out and closing it behind her. She ambled down the hall, to go see the Doctor to get patched up, then meet up with the LG members present to walk home.
