Aaron Visits a Park!
It was a perfectly normal Saturday. Well perfectly normal meaning it was cloudy, and so today Aaron was wandering the streets of New York. As he walked he past shops, restaurants, really shady places, and many more things. Since Aaron couldn’t really read he didn’t have any reason to want to go in any of the places. Why should he anyways? He was a free spirit and didn’t want to listen to the rules of common courtesy.
Well upon his walk, Aaron passed by a park. His eyes lit up as he was looking in at the playground and black-top. It looked so fun! Aaron then looked at the gate that locked it in. Not knowing the meaning of trespassing or anything, he just hopped over the fence like it was nothing. And he smiled as he was inside the park now. It was cloudy and there was a building to the left of him that he didn’t know what it was for, but ignored it.
The Swing-set
The first thing Aaron saw were the swings! He’s only seen them once before and this seemed like his chance to get to ride one of the contraptions. He put his hands on the rusty metal chains and sat down in the seat. Hmm… not that comfortable. Disregarding that Aaron tried to swing by flapping his arms like a bird, but it did nothing. Then he tried moving his legs, which caused the swing to move ever so slightly. Excited, Aaron would move his legs faster and faster until the swing moved at a decent height. After about ten minutes he got into a rhythm of how you’re supposed to move your legs to make you go higher.
He was flying, he really was flying. Aaron felt like he was on top of the world! He could almost touch the sky! In fact, Aaron decided to let go of the swing with his arms to try and touch the sky, however it was a poor idea as he started to fall off the swing and was going to hit the ground face first. Though being a playful person, Aaron just smiled and landed as a handstand. The dirt hurt his hands slightly as there was sticks and rocks everywhere, but he didn’t care, and it was actually fun!
Giggling Aaron went onto the swing again. He got all the way to the top and soon he was going way up, almost perpendicular to the ground. With a strong kick of his legs, the chain shook and Aaron went all the way around the pole, doing a circle loop around the pole the swings were attached to. He blinked a bit confused as he looked up at the top of the swings. Why was he up higher now? Oh! Aaron jumped off and climbed up to the top of the pole like an inchworm. Next he would take his hands to carefully pick up the swing and bring it back around. The only reason he knew that it was what he should do is because the swing was making funny noises near the top. And on top of the swing-set, Aaron saw the slides.
The Slide
Aaron climbed onto the play structures. They were very well built because he could bounce on them and they wouldn’t break. Easily distracted he started to bounce for a while at the top of a slide. Now there were three slides. One of the loop ones that was covered. A small simple one. And a very tall, but steep one. Aaron wanted to go on them all! First he would start on the little one. He got to the top of it and sat down, then he waited. He wondered why he wasn’t sliding down, when he thought that maybe he needed to go forwards a bit. Not even understanding his own thoughts, Aaron repositioned himself so he was face first and laying on his stomach. He had his feet on the original part on the flat ground, but the rest of him was on the slide. Since most his weight was on the slide, he started to go down. It was really fun until he got a mouth full of ground. Aaron stayed there for a few minutes contemplating how he got onto the ground. Well there really wasn’t a good explanation for this. He just got back up and started to brush the dirt off his face. Aaron would smile and jump for joy as he was all better.
Now he needed to do the next slide. He walked to the curly one, but he was at the bottom. To Aaron it looked like the twirly noodles he’s seen people eat before. It was even the same color of a pale yellow. He then started to crawl up it on his hands and knees only to find five minutes later he hasn’t made any progress. A bit sad that it didn’t work he took the stairs to the top. And then he slid down it, this time it was easier than before because he knew how to do it. When he reached the bottom he wondered why this place was gated as it was so fun!
Finally there was the last slide, the giant one! Aaron would go to the top and look down. He wasn’t scared of heights, but looking down, it looked like a long way to fall. He wondered if he was a cat, would he land on his feet. But this wasn’t about cats, this was his time to shine. Aaron would go down the slide and soon he was picking up speed. This slide felt great as the wind was blowing through his hair and he had his arms up over his head. He reached the bottom with a firm impact from the speed he was going at. Getting back up and looking at the slide he wondered at its largeness and wondered how it got so big. And as he looked up, he got curious and looked to the slide. There was a big wood structure and he wasn’t sure what it was, but he would find out.
The Jungle-gym
Aaron has located the wooden structure and looked at it with awe. It was so big, not like the slide, but it was really big… huge! It was a huge structure that took up much of the space. Aaron climbs on it and starts to explore. First he found a steering wheel. This part of the structure was shaped as a boat. He didn’t understand it, but he realized the wheel spun and spinning things are always nice. He smiled as he just spun the wheels for what felt like hours on end.
Next he came across some monkey bars, but he didn’t know they were monkey bars. Well he just decided to leave them alone since he didn’t know what they were fore. At the moment they looked like something that he’d put his head in and then die and Aaron didn’t want that. He continued to explore this giant contraption, finding cool hiding spots that he somehow managed to squeeze into. He found a sandbox underneath where he tried to bury himself, but sadly there wasn’t enough sand. And he found a small area of acorns that he stared to collect, then buried them in the sandbox. All well this was happening, a bell rung, it was recess!
Again!
Aaron’s eyes widen as he sees kids. Who were they? They were just mini people, but they looked so happy, not like people at his school where they were so serious. All excited Aaron crawled out of the sandbox and waved to the kids. Now these kids were young, around second grade and pretty much loved to have fun with everyone! Aaron would smile as some of the kids went to the swings. He followed them while putting his arms out to the sides like he was an airplane. Having the time of his life, he helped the kids get very high by pushing them, but luckily he was gentle and didn’t push them too hard so they’d get hurt. It’s probably possible Aaron didn’t even realize he could hurt these small creatures, but at least he seemed to be okay.
And after the swings he went to the slides where the kids showed him the trick to running up the slides. Aaron was masterful! In only a few attempts he could run up the very large slide at a very fast speed. The kids were all happy and clapped joyfully. Oh how fun was this. And then the large structure. Aaron was told what it was and looked happy that they seemed to be having fun on it. He then realized because he was a bit taller than the kids that he didn’t fit correctly and might not be able to play that well. But the kids were adorable and nice, they included Aaron in their games which made him really happy.
Tag
After they played on all the contraptions and structures, the kids started to huddle in a circle. Then they asked Aaron if he wanted to play tag which he was excited to. He was supposed to go first so he playfully started to run after the kids. They must practice a lot, because Aaron couldn’t seem to catch them that easily. Though as he thought about it, maybe he wasn’t running… After all they seemed to be trying a lot harder than he was and he thought it was unfair that they had to do that. So Aaron picked up speed and soon tagged a small boy. It was all hunky dory until the kid started to cry. Apparently Aaron hit his boy on the back too hard on accident so he fell down. A teacher came over and then the storm came.
Aaron was whimpering as the teacher person was yelling at him. She wasn’t even sure how he got in, but demanding to have his name and that he should get a talking to by his parents and be punished for harassing a younger kid. Aaron was so sad! What did he do? Why was the little boy crying? All confused Aaron started to walk towards the gates. Though all the other kids seemed sad as they were trying to tell the teacher that they were playing. The teacher shook her head and was telling the kids that they needed to go back inside the school to learn some more. Before she left, she gave Aaron a mean glance and then went back inside the school.
Destruction?
The sad little Aaron looked at all the kids go inside, but then before he was about to climb back over the gate he remembered that he buried the acorns under the sand. He jogged over quickly, wanting to retrieve them so he could have souvenirs. Though when he went over to the sand he couldn’t remember where he buried them. Still disappointed Aaron would grip onto one of the wooden posts that kept the structure standing. And there was a loud creak.
It was not surprising that the structure was creaking, after all it was rather old. Well the next thing someone would see is Aaron taking apart the structure. He realized that if it was breaking and making sounds that it could break. He didn’t want it to break because if it did then the kids might get hurt. Aaron would be sad if they got hurt, so he was doing this for their benefit.
And soon the structure was demolished, though all the wood was placed nicely on the ground in piles. Aaron made a sad face as his hands hurt and had small pieces of wood stuck in them, but he guessed they would come out, hopefully… Or he could just get someone to help him with it. Then the same teacher came out yelling. Aaron yelped and then ran to the fence which he hopped over. He didn’t want to be yelled out again, so he just escaped the crime.
Well the good news is the cops never found Aaron. AND with the jungle gym already in pieces, the school had the right mind to redo the entire playground and making it more safe and fun for the kids. So in all Aaron must have done something right, right?
