The day was dragging on at a normal pace--but to Kyou, it needed to slow down and speed up at the same time. It needed to go by faster, the day felt as though it had been going on forever and each minute stretched on for hours. Still, he felt as though he himself had been caught up in the slowness of life--he hadn't gotten anything productive accomplished in that day, and he wished he had the inspiration to do something. Yesterday he was working on biochemicals, the day before that he finished up some rough drafts for a new trinket he could use. A month ago he was stopping a burglary and prevented a murder. Two weeks ago he helped aid in catching a criminal who was known for unusual theft. But today? He'd done nothing except stay in his classes and do his assignments. But he'd hardly even done that.
Kyou's assignments were so boringly easy he managed to finish each assignment within minutes, giving him hours of extra time. Normally he would have focused on something interesting--but there were no good leads recently. There was nothing to do. So during English class, Kyou was sitting in his seat off to the side--away from the rest of the class. He had asked his teacher specifically for that seat--the one in the back and isolated from the rest of the students. Kyou liked to be alone, and though it could get lonely at times, he enjoyed the silence. When people or teacher interacted with him, it was usually in a negative way. And why wouldn't it be? Anyone who knew about the reputations of the students at this school knew that Kyou was the biggest loser. He was awkward, stuttered, he was a loner (and some rumors claimed he was emo), and a nerd. Sure there were other nerds in the school, but none of them were as lame as he. They didn't wear dress shirts, bow ties and suspenders, after all. But today Kyou did something he hadn't done in a while. As he was sitting alone in the back of the class, he was reading a non-educational book--a comic book, even.
