Siobhan examined the implant, fingering the delicate device with an intense gaze. This small thing was the source of four days worth of pain? It didn't really seem like that was possible. No wonder her father had been irritated, she herself was wondering why it would be so hard to insert such a small device. Siobhan's eyes flickered away from the implant and back to the blade being sat down. Valo had chosen a seat next to her this time, which she found... strange.
"That's over... so what happens from here?"
That's right, she needed to have a plan. Siobhan herself had gone strangely quiet inside, which was never a good signal come later in the evening. But she was taking things as they came, although a change of sides hadn't been in the agenda. Siobhan wanted to answer Valo truthfully, but she knew that if he found out what the evening held for her at the Arden Manor, it would only worry him further. Lying to an ally and it's only been ten minutes. She told herself that is was for both of their benefit, and anyways Valo had no need to concern himself with what happened afterwards.
"I'll be returning home. Firstly, I need some of my stuff, and my father is expecting me. If I take the tracker with me and leave it at the house, there shouldn't be a problem. I can leave afterwards and head back to the school."
There. That was simple enough. Siobhan was hoping that Valo wouldn't ask any unnecessary questions like why her father was expecting her, what their meeting was over, or you know what normally happened during those meetings. This is my battle and only I can fight it. Siobhan didn't need to involve anyone else. She had the trust of her ally on her shoulders and that was enough to give her courage to fight one more time. But this lie sat on her chest and stared her in the eyes until threads of guiltiness weaved into her mind. Stop it Sia.
"I don't know how the housing works here, do I have to wait a certain period of time or do I just get a dorm and make payments from there?"
Siobhan should know better to not reroute subjects from focusing on her against allies, but being in the spotlight was stressful. She wanted to escape with no questions asked. If Valo questioned her now, her resolve would break and she wouldn't even be able to go back to the house. Siobhan would be too afraid. Thinking ahead was imagining what new punishments the Russian mafia's leader could think up. Just focus on the now. Stuttering out words in a last ditch effort to keep herself quiet until later, Siobhan spoke to Valo.
"Thank you by the way. I'm guessing that wasn't too easy on you..."

So she's going back home...
To say that he was worried was an understatement, but he understood that she had her reasons for it. She couldn't just up and leave with nothing. She couldn't just disappear like it was all okay. Not yet. He didn't know anything about her father but what bad things she'd mentioned or hinted at, but he could only hope that nothing bad would happen to her. The implant in her hand only served as a justification for his worries, but if she felt she would be fine, then he wouldn't try to impose on her. If she really was in a bind and needed the help, she would call for him with the tracker he gave her. That's all there was to it.
"As long as you'll be okay. Just remember, Siobhan, you're not alone."
Strength from your allies, from a friend, is sometimes all you needed to make it through. It granted you courage you thought you didn't have. But although he had people he could trust, he had his own personal battles that only he could fight. He understood this, and he was sure that Siobhan didn't want others involved if she could help it. Whether it was for their safety, or due to a stubborn notion of being able to accomplish things on her own, she was a fighter at heart. And he respected that.
"I don't know how the housing works here, do I have to wait a certain period of time or do I just get a dorm and make payments from there?"
Valo thought for a moment about this question. Normally, the housing at the school was for the low income students or students who had issues getting to school, and it was probably a bit hard at this point to get one. However... he would pull his phone out, and begin to type a text to Macht, who owed him a favor at the least.
"I'm gonna arrange something with the school captain for you. He could pull the necessary strings to get you in there as soon as tomorrow if you need it." He finished sending the text, purposely omitting details on why it needs done. He slid his phone back into his pocket before he talked again. "If you need a place to crash tonight after you head home though, just let me know."
He was almost certain she wouldn't accept the offer, but it didn't hurt to give it. A lot could happen in a night, and it made him uneasy to think of what could happen to her while she attempted to sleep. He tried not to show that on his face, however, not wanting her concerned about him over herself. She had enough to worry about without his own worries weighing down on her. He would just make a note to himself to stay up tonight just in case. He was sure he could find some way to occupy his time.
"Thank you by the way. I'm guessing that wasn't too easy on you..."
It wasn't. But... "No problem. I've... done worse. I can't say I was expecting any of this. But... it's what friends are for, right?"

"As long as you'll be okay. Just remember, Siobhan, you're not alone."
Siobhan felt herself backpedal out of that one very quickly. Catching herself with a mental reprimand, she reminded herself that allies were supposed to be there for each other. The notion was so unfamiliar that it had temporarily panicked her. Somewhere, she had the audacity to almost be angry at those words. Not alone? Who had been around the previous seventeen years of her life? Siobhan was alone, and that was how her life was supposed to be. Keeping to that strict principle gave her a bit of comfort and it definitely came with some guilt. Valo was trying and being very cautious to not upset her. She would do well to show some gratitude.
"I'm gonna arrange something with the school captain for you. He could pull the necessary strings to get you in there as soon as tomorrow if you need it. If you need a place to crash tonight after you head home though, just let me know."
Siobhan blanched. Did Valo just say, the School Captain? As in, the head of the Pillars who she had saw on her first day of school and was still apprehensive about meeting just because his presence was that powerful? That School Captain? This time, she backpedaled fast enough to trip over herself and land hard. Calm down Sia, think. That's something you're good at. What was the best way to get out of this request? No wait, Valo wasn't stupid he would think something was up. Siobhan had just driven herself into a corner.
Inwardly, Siobhan buried her face in her hands. This was a disaster. She shouldn't be afraid of the School Captain. She was sure he was a great guy. But how was Siobhan supposed to look at the very man who she had gone to such lengths to overthrow? What was she supposed to say? Had her original objective still been in play, she would've welcomed the opportunity. Siobhan felt like facing him would be a firm acceptance of her failure to not only take power from him, but to ally with him. And owe him a favor for putting her up somewhere! Siobhan didn't know if she could take this.
"A-Actually I probably need a place to crash for later tonight, but don't worry about afterwards. I'm sure... I'll have something figured out later... anyways..."
Before she could even muster the exasperation at how weak-willed her words sounded, Valo spoke up distracting her momentarily. Siobhan wasn't even sure if she wanted to hear it. She was giving him so much trouble it was ridiculous. For a moment she considered if she was even worth going through the pains of removing her away from her father's care. Siobhan didn't like her answer.
"No problem. I've... done worse. I can't say I was expecting any of this. But... it's what friends are for, right?"
Those words resonated with her. Friends. It was a simple word, but felt so heavy in her hands. Siobhan never had friends. Stricken with a moment of terror, she was convinced that this could only end in tragedy. She was her father's daughter, and he only conditioned her to take bonds with others up by its throat and squeeze until you got all of the benefit choked out of it. She had seen the effects of friends before. Hadn't those girls who tried to play Siobhan as a "friend" gotten the game turned around on them very quickly at her previous school? "Friends" had gotten her into this school. Forced to reply, Siobhan chose to omit the word of "Friends", if only to make herself feel better.
"Sorry to trouble you. We're just recent allies and I've overstepped my boundaries..."

Valo was trying to be careful as to not cause Siobhan to panic, but it seemed nearly everything struck a dissonant chord within her right now. He couldn't really blame her, everything must have been so confusing and tough to bear after all of these sudden developments. He imagined if they were in an anime, her face would be bright red and she'd be burning up like a tea kettle before her head exploded in exasperation.
He also had no idea of what her original plan with Macht was, overthrowing him or otherwise. He wasn't trying to jeopardize her, but rather help her, and Macht was quite possibly the best person around to get on the good side of. Even if he didn't really know Siobhan well, he was bound to help Valo out for saving his life before. Valo didn't mind using that personal favor on someone else when their life was potentially at stake, not that he'd tell Siobhan that.
"A-Actually I probably need a place to crash for later tonight, but don't worry about afterwards. I'm sure... I'll have something figured out later... anyways..."
Well, that was really unexpected. He thought she'd turn him down, but she seemed willing to take it. Her stuttering seemed so unlike the surefire tough Siobhan he had seen just minutes before, but maybe she thought she shouldn't refuse all the options he was trying to give her. She was an ally, and if she could feel secure for even just a night, then he'd try to give that to her. As paranoid as he was, he had countermeasures in place in the event that anyone tried to compromise his location. That same security would be extended to her.
"Alright, that's no problem. I have a spare room, and you can crash as long as needed. Don't be in a rush to leave until you're positive you're secure."
Whether it was one night or many days to come, she needed to find herself and to pick herself back up after all of this. And by offering his place to her, he was letting her in closer than he'd allow most people, meaning he had to do his best to trust that she wouldn't go through with her original mission anyway. But looking at her, he didn't feel like he had to doubt her. He felt more sincerity out of her than before. If she was acting the same way she did back at the PA room, well... he doubted he'd be nearly so kind.
"You don't need to apologize. You've overstepped nothing. When I offer to help someone, I intend to do my best... so you're fine."
Maybe someone to talk to would do him some good as well.

Siobhan's mind was a mess of what should be acceptable and what was pushing her boundaries. Certainly allying with the Student Captain would only benefit her in the long run? It's not about the benefit anymore. Frustrated with her own inability to connect to people, Siobhan was genuinely confused what she was supposed to do about this. What did other people ally with him for? She sensed respect from those around him, but besides that, just what exactly was the extent of their relationship? Siobhan felt that if she was ever going to make ground with the School Captain, an apology was in order. Her pride's nose wrinkled in disgust. She was supposed to apologize for simply acting out how her upbringing had taught her? No, I've known this was wrong. Even so, it wasn't her fault. Siobhan was just trying to survive like the rest of them. Why should she have to apologize for that?
"Alright, that's no problem. I have a spare room, and you can crash as long as needed. Don't be in a rush to leave until you're positive you're secure."
Security was a luxury not a necessity. Siobhan figured she would have to reroute that statement sometime in the near future. As long as she was branded with the name Arden and her father was still alive, there would never be any security in her life. Siobhan didn't really oppose it either. It wasn't uncommon in her family to have early deaths. Just say it. The thought was nagging through her own mess of trying to sort herself. She couldn't have Valo house her for a long time. She did need that dorm room. But she couldn't speak just yet.
"You don't need to apologize. You've overstepped nothing. When I offer to help someone, I intend to do my best... so you're fine."
Siobhan gave him a dry look before a wry smile pulled on her face. This guy was ridiculous. She knew that her twelve year old self would have killed literally for someone like him. No, she couldn't dwell on the past. That self of her was dead and Siobhan would no more look upon it. Growing more serious, she pinned Valo with a straightforward look and brought up his earlier request.
"So you've proved. I owe you one Valo... Also, just in case I don't figure anything out... can you see if the Student Captain will go ahead and reserve a room for me? ...If it won't be too difficult.."
Siobhan was reluctant to pine for more favors, it only made it so much more difficult in the end, but for now she didn't have much of a choice. She had ran the possibilities, and unless she enjoyed the idea of having drive-by kidnappings happen to her, there weren't many options. Family friends were an option as well, but in the mafia sides shifted easily and her becoming a hostage wasn't too far out of the picture. Valo was the last card Siobhan had left. She would be completely screwed over if this was a ruse. Not for her naivety, but also revealing the implant's existence. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say her father would beat her two steps from death.

Valo himself wasn't sure what his relationship with Macht was. They had been bitter enemies since the start, although for a really silly reason. It started out as typical teenage anger, and Macht had always looked down on Valo for how weak he was. It wasn't until the later gang wars on the school that Valo had proven to Macht that he wasn't just cannon fodder, until later when he had given his own life to save Macht. But even then... were they friends? Or just people who shared a common goal who simply learned to tolerate the other? No matter the answer, his opinion of Macht was a high one. And he'd gladly try to get Siobhan into Macht's good graces if he could, should the opportunity or need arise.
She wasn't Valo's responsibility, but his natural instinct told him to worry and do what he could. If he just let Siobhan walk out of here back into that life of her's, especially after getting her implant removed, he couldn't live with himself if she got hurt, if he could've stopped her from getting hurt. And if that happened, who knew what twisted thing would be done next? It could be far worse than a tracking implant. He shuddered at the thought.
"So you've proved. I owe you one Valo... Also, just in case I don't figure anything out... can you see if the Student Captain will go ahead and reserve a room for me? ...If it won't be too difficult.."
She owed him... he didn't really want any favors in return, except for her to watch herself and stay safe. But he'd answer her question, looking over to her and returning her gaze.
"Of course. I'm sure he'll have an answer to me soon, when he gets a chance to respond. But I'll keep bugging him about it. It wouldn't be any issue."
He wasn't sure if it was desperation he saw in her eyes, or determination. Looking at her, he could see a part of his life that he wanted to forget about looking back at him. Her story and her past made him reflect on his own, and he realized he was always going to be carrying it with him. Burying it did nothing, so he'd have to face it. But looking past all of that... Siobhan was someone he felt he too could come to rely on someday.
"Well then, shall we be off? We got to get everything arranged." He stood up, looking over at Siobhan and offering his hand to her and giving a friendly smile. "Besides, we were supposed to get some food."

Siobhan didn't want food she wanted alcohol but she couldn't tell Valo that. Well she could, but that would be a bad reputation. Reminding herself she hadn't eaten since the start of the afternoon and it was nearing the end of the evening, she would need to eat at least something. She felt that dinner at the Arden manor would be served cold. Siobhan was reluctant to leave now that the reality of her actions was setting in. It only gets worse from here.
"Food sounds nice. After though, I will have to leave."
Siobhan figured if she didn't set her limits now, she never would. If given enough time, she probably would talk herself out of returning home. That wouldn't be the first time. She grabbed Valo's offered hand, slightly surprised by the gesture. Siobhan had experienced this once before, but it was still strange. The idea of someone willingly offering help to her was still foreign. It would make sense for the gesture to be expended to others, but Siobhan was never the person who got favors. Opposing mafia families called in favors to end her, certainly not help her.
Siobhan knew fretting over a helping hand was irrational, but with the gratefulness came an underlying uneasiness. She had always seen a handshake as a ploy to gain trust. Typically the person on the receiving end would trust the other's offered friendship or help. Siobhan watched those people bleed in alleyways, choking on words of hate and regret. How many times had she stepped over dead bodies littering warehouses, telling herself that they brought this onto themselves? But here she was now, repeating those same actions. Would she too, become another dead body with a knife buried into her spine, choking on betrayal while the life drained from her eyes?
The squeezing in her chest was still there, but Siobhan repeatedly told herself that there would be a time to succumb, just not now. Now she needed to cram energy down her throat and mentally prepare herself for later. Taking a breath, she turned to Valo, asking him a serious question in her eyes with an equally serious expression.
"So, chocolate milk or white?"

Valo himself hadn't really accepted the luxury of spending time with another person casually in a long time, not since the Wraith inhabited his body. He shut himself off from people for fear of them casting him away, for fear of him hurting them if he failed to control it. He didn't feel human anymore regularly, and was afraid others would look at him in the same way. But as Siobhan turned ally, as he found someone who could sort of relate, and as she took his hand, he couldn't help but feel an unfamiliar ease in his chest.
"Don't worry, I won't keep you long."
Although, he preferred if he could. He didn't want to risk her going back home to her father. He hardly new her, but he was concerned for his safety in a way that was hard to put into words. He wanted to find a way to get her out of that life in its entirety, wondering if it was even possible. No, it had to be possible. As long as there was a way, he was going to keep pushing for her. He wasn't going to resign her to a fate that was out of her hands, she had to carve her own path. Her life was her story. It didn't sit right with him that she was living for someone else, and not her own happiness.
A bit of time would pass before he realized he was still holding her hand, and he quickly let go and looked away for a moment. He grabbed his bag, lifting it over his shoulder before he noticed her turning towards him with a very serious look on his face. He could only wonder what that meant.
"So, chocolate milk or white?"
... ..... .......
Okay, he wasn't expecting that. The serious look in her eyes, and the serious tone of voice she had... Valo was waiting for her to crack into a smile or a laugh, but it never came. He was completely caught off guard, but opted to regain his composure and answer just as seriously.
"Should that even be a question? Chocolate, all the way. I could live off of that."

Siobhan's eyes immediately brightened at Valo's response. Her brows furrowed in childish excitement, and she didn't even get a chance to be flustered about holding his hand for longer than necessary. Valo too, held the same opinion as she did over dairy. Siobhan liked to be well-versed over many things, especially those that she consumed. Often times she would get into drunken rants over why beer was such an uncultured choice, but Valo had just given her the green light for an educational milk experience.
"Chocolate is the best! There are so many kinds of milk, and drawing the line at just plain cream doesn't let you get the full experience. With milk there are so many different flavors how could you just take plain cream? Of course, I don't like to get too fancy so chocolate is a pastime of mine. I agree though, with chocolate milk not only is it sweet but it's nutritious."
Explaining it all in one breath without ever breaking eye contact, Siobhan's hands gestured wildly while she explained the necessity of having taste in dairy. The idea of just settling for something so vanilla and cream without any regard was incomprehensible to Siobhan. She didn't understand why someone could be so indifferent to the liquids they chose to replenish themselves with. Get back on track Sia. Exhaling a quick breath of embarrassment at her ridiculous rant, Siobhan turned her eyes away from where they were staring to intently at Valo.
"Ah, well, that's just me... I'm not too hungry so I think I'll just get milk. Chocolate! Milk...."
Siobhan felt something inside herself take a step back. What was that? Something was up with her, and it wasn't apprehension to her external surroundings. No, it was something inward and it didn't appear to be her uneasy excitement at becoming a recent ally. Glancing up at Valo from the corner of her eye, Siobhan bought herself some some time by picking up her bag and slipping the implant into one of the side pockets. That's strange. What is Valo to me? Siobhan blinked at the table before turning back to Valo. Well, Valo is just... Valo.
That's right. He was another existence just like Siobhan. That didn't make him anything more or less to her. Why does that seem wrong? Siobhan felt something inside her try to quiet the questioning voice. It was as if the answer was eluding her and she didn't want to know. Valo is... more than?... Just an ally? Siobhan felt an increasing panic try to suffocate the words back into oblivion. Don't mess with things that don't concern you. Didn't this concern Siobhan? Valo is not only Valo, but he is more than an ally? Siobhan heard a muffled cry in her head. It whispered for her to not venture too far. It would be far too hard to recover. Recover from what? Valo is more than an ally he's-

Woah.
Valo was caught completely off-guard by this new side of Siobhan. It was as if she had no worries in the whole world, a new light shined through in her eyes that he hadn't seen before, and when she started to speak... he felt like his eyes had been opened to a whole new world of milky goodness, the way she spoke in one breath just like that was astounding to say the least. Needless to say, it probably wasn't the best time to tell her he had never had any fancier chocolate milk brands, just the kind you buy in the jug at the grocery store or the chocolate mix that you put into milk yourself.
"Ah, well, that's just me... I'm not too hungry so I think I'll just get milk. Chocolate! Milk...."
At that, Valo couldn't help but smile, suppressing a laugh. She was quite adorable, he couldn't deny that. A woman with class, but she had a childish side to her too. It was refreshing to see such signs of life in a place like PHS #552, but even moreso from her. After their earlier conversation, he was worried she just didn't know how to have fun. But it was there, he hoped he could see that side of her more often. Something about her... made him feel like the Wraith inside of him wasn't a problem, that if he remained content like this, he could fight it. She was helping him in a way he didn't understand, and yet... No, I'm looking too much into it.
"Alright, Miss Chocolate Connoisseur, we'll get some chocolate milk." He smiled at her. "Vending machine, or... would you rather go somewhere?"
He asked her, not really minding whatever they did. If they were short on time, the vending machines made the most sense, but he was more than willing to give her a ride somewhere. She had to go home, and so did he. But part of him wished this could last longer. Finding someone like her who could be a great friend... it wasn't a common occurrence in the slightest. He just hoped that every time they were together, he could bring out the real Siobhan, rather then the one who walked around with walls up around her heart all the time.

Miss Chocolate Connoisseur... Is that some kind of pet name? Siobhan blinked up at Valo, not knowing how to approach the nickname. Weren't those gestures of affection? No, she also remembered being called strange names were products of malcontent. But if we're allies, then it was probably a pet name. Siobhan looked at Valo with an affirmative look, nodding her head. Then she remembered that there was a question attached to the pet name that she had not answered. Standing up and trailing behind Valo, she tried to cover up her exasperation at herself.
"Uh, vending machine actually, I don't want to be late getting home."
Yes, Siobhan had a curfew and it was the most restricting thing she had yet to deal with. She could handle having screened web history and a monthly sweep of her room, but the curfew killed her. It was always in the midst of things did that six-o-clock run around and harass her into returning to the Arden manor. Just another one of her father's paranoid tactics to keep her sitting on her hands, legs locked to a chair. Besides, Siobhan didn't normally defy him intentionally, so she wondered if being late would be such a big deal. Best not to attract any unnecessary attention, Sia.
"Did you want to designate a meeting time at your place or have a spot to check-up in? I can't do any sooner than nine, but after ten it's fair game."
Siobhan glanced up at him briefly, wondering what his place would look like. She didn't particularly care for the Arden manor, everything was in shades of brown and gold, all elaborate and detailed. Siobhan would've been fine with white or grey, and perhaps something more general than inscribing a crest on every doorknob. Well, just those on the first floor anyways. Siobhan mused if Valo had a curfew as well. It would definitely help them come to an understanding, but if PHS #552 had campus restrictions on curfew, she figured she would probably be scaling some walls. How annoying...

Valo looked at Siobhan as she blinked at him. Was she confused by something? He had no idea calling her what he did would give him such a puzzled look in return, but it was amusing to see her lost in thought and what he assumed was space out before she finally answered his question. At least interactions with her were unique and, somehow, not awkward.
He would walk over to the nearest vending machine that had what they wanted, sliding in some bills and some loose change from his pocket before hitting the buttons to get a couple of bottles of chocolate milk, rather than the small cartons. Because those were never enough chocolate milk, and were an insult when there was an obviously superior option to pick from.
Reaching down to grab the first bottle, and then the other when it came out, he would hold one out to Siobhan with a smile. He wasn't going to tease her further, as much as the temptation was there to do so. There would be time for that later, probably, and they were running short on time now. He would open up his bottle of chocolate milk, taking a small sip while she asked her question.
"Did you want to designate a meeting time at your place or have a spot to check-up in? I can't do any sooner than nine, but after ten it's fair game."
He paused for a moment to think on how they should do it. After a bit of time, he'd pull out his phone. "Here... let me give you my number. Just text or call me when you're ready or want me to and I can come pick you up somewhere. We're going to need to kill some time before the dorm is ready." He would head to the screen that displayed his number, holding the screen out towards Siobhan for her to see it.
Valo himself did have a curfew for the longest time, while his sister was still living at his house... he would come home after school every day to take care of her while she was sick, to help her with her homework, to feed her and make sure she was okay. But ever since the black mist incident, she had gone missing, taken by his father. He hated going home to that silence, it ate away at him and reminded him of his failure. And while he didn't realize it, even if it was just for a few hours or so, having someone else there would dull that pain substantially. A brief reprieve that he didn't even know he needed.

Siobhan dug through her bag to produce a few bills, frowning lightly at Valo when he paid for her drink. She could have paid for it just fine. Just because her father was a bit on the psycho side didn't mean Siobhan hadn't come from a wealthy family. Even more than reputation, money was a principle driven into her from a young age. If you didn't have money, you didn't have reputation. Because of that, Siobhan tended to carry some cash on her, no more than twenty dollars, and a credit card. Her father preferred a credit card on her anyways. It was easier to track her purchases.
"Thanks."
Siobhan gave him a wry grin from where he was leaning down, sending mental kudos out to Valo for choosing the bottles instead of cartons. Who paid for cheap things like that anyways? There was never enough. Popping the cap open, Siobhan was in the midst of taking a long drink when he held his phone out to her. Staring at it for a moment, Siobhan accepted it, punching her phone number into it. Hesitating a moment to confirm her thoughts, she finally handed it back to Valo with another proposition.
"Ah my dad likes to harass the phone service carriers, and it isn't beyond his power to get numbers tracked, messages printed out, you know? It would probably be best if I called you from a public phone."
With that, Siobhan took a long indifferent swig of chocolate milk, happy that at least some things never changed. Glancing down at the bottle, she realized that the brand was different from the usual. I guess this is what I get huh? Maybe all things were meant to change.

Valo noticed the frown, but tried to pay it no mind. He didn't pay for it out of a feeling she couldn't or anything. He just liked doing nice things for people he liked, even something as minor as paying a couple of dollars for a drink. Besides, she was a fellow chocolate milk lover, and damn was that awesome to him. He'd buy a whole friggin' chocolate fountain if he could. But probably wouldn't, that might be a bit much. Don't scare her away too soon, Valo.
"Ah my dad likes to harass the phone service carriers, and it isn't beyond his power to get numbers tracked, messages printed out, you know? It would probably be best if I called you from a public phone."
Why was he not surprised? Her dad was so willing to track her through every possible method, and after the tracker inside of her, nothing else seemed nearly as dark. But this was pretty crazy. He contemplated other possible solutions in his head. Could he get her a secret phone that she kept hidden? But he didn't know how far he'd go to search her, and if it was found... He hated to think what would happen to her. He wanted to help her, perhaps a bit more than he wanted to help anyone else he just met. He just wondered at what lengths he himself would go to to make sure she was safe.
"Yeah, I'm cool with that. I'll just keep an eye out even for numbers I don't recognize then."
Answer everything. He didn't normally get called, so he figured any random ones would be her. He was gonna be glued to his phone far more than normal as a result, but he felt it was a necessity for the time being. For the next day, maybe even week or month, he'd try to put her safety first. Whenever she did decide to come to him, though. He couldn't watch over her if she wasn't okay with it.
"Siobhan... I..."
Valo began, but wasn't sure where to go from there. He wanted to propose another solution to her, but he knew this one would be pretty crazy. He just met the girl. Anything he would say could come off as crazy. But they also just went through that whole ordeal with the tracker implant. He wasn't sure what to say, or how to say what he wanted to. He was a concerned kid, and he already cared too much about what happened to her.
"Can't I just... can't you..." He paused again. "... Nevermind. It's nothing."
He could never ask her to stay with him. It was wrong of him to ask her to allow him to protect her practically full time. She had her own life, even if she wasn't yet living it. But how different would staying with him be? Sure, he'd be protecting her. Treating her well and trying to make sure she was comfortable and happier, but in a way, he was worried it'd just come off as another form of control to her. No, if she needed him... she knew how to reach him.
"How long do you think you have until you have to leave?"

Siobhan waited for Valo to speak, mildly confused with his broken sentences. Taking a long drink of chocolate milk, she wondered if it was his concern over her father's drastic connections. That wouldn't be surprising. Well, Siobhan was still shocked that this kind of thing wasn't a typical home life, but Valo's increasing concern was not so surprising anymore. She was apparently living in hellish conditions. Huh, Siobhan just thought that came with the mafia paranoia. She wanted to pursue further what Valo was trying to convey, but figured he wanted to let it go.
"How long do you think you have until you have to leave?"
Siobhan felt a slight grimace grace her face. She had to leave as soon as possible, and with a quick glance over towards the cafeteria clock, her curfew was approaching quickly. Although she wouldn't reveal this to Valo, Siobhan would be cutting it extremely close, if not spoiling the time all together. She never is late, memories of the one time she brushed past the deadline are fresh in her mind as the mirage of old bruises. Briefly she panics at the thought of Valo realizing her bruises from her father's anger and paranoia. In a rush to evade the impending situation, Siobhan quickly replies in a thoughtful manner.
"Actually, I should go now... thanks for the chocolate milk."
Siobhan gives him a strained smile, suddenly feeling weighed down with the prospect of leaving. Her stomach heaves, nausea pleading with her to stay in the safety of his company. Already, some sort of sentiment has been formed between the two of them, and it is unnerving to Siobhan. She turns sharply, giving a small wave behind her, before striding to the doors. She has time to think, time to figure out another plan of action. At the moment, she is sure that if Valo tried to stop her, Siobhan just might listen. Don't look back, don't look back.
The door swings shut behind her, and as it closes, Siobhan looks back once more in desperation. Recoiling from the now closed door, she is horrified at the brief moment of weakness she has shown. Feeling herself sink further into panic, she takes off down the hall, trying to outrun the issues biting at her heels. Stupid, stupid. You don't deserve this kindness. Looking up as she rounds the corners, Siobhan feels tears in her eyes, and isn't sure why.
