Home... Leon's was basic. Bed, couch, punching bag, wooden man, a few weights and some motorcycle handlebars drilled into his wall at varying levels. It was a studio apartment and he lived alone. Which is why, this very morning he was shocked to find his older brother, sitting on his knee's very patiently waiting for Leon to wake up. Grave Sudeki, so named in an ominous manner to ward off danger. As their father was a superstitious person, it made sense, however, that omen seemed to do no favors.
Grave was two years almost to the day older than Leon, making him nineteen at this point. He sat there in the middle of the room with a cup of fresh oolong tea. His shaggy black hair was unusual as he usually kept it combed back and slick. He wore jeans and a normal black shirt that sported some anime he liked.
"We need to talk."
Was all he got out before looking at Leon. The blonde scratched his head and sat up moving to join his brother. Sitting on his knee's. Grave would pour Leon a cup of hot tea with the honey lining the cup, just the way Leon liked it.
"Father wishes to name me head of the clan tomorrow."
Leon nearly spat his tea.
"This early? Why? Why talk to me about this, wouldn't Kentler be next in line?"
Grave shook his head at this, focusing his emerald eyes on Leon.
"No, father has also named you to succeed me if I die."
Leon put his cup down... Hard.
"Then why doesn't he tell me himself?"
Grave took another sip of his cup.
"He will, tomorrow. He is bringing the clan here for a weekend for the ceremony, because he knows you won't come back to Texas."
Leon didn't know what to say, it was a wonder to him.
"But I'm a bastard."
"That doesn't matter, Leon. Your my brother."
Then it finally clicked.
"These are your condition's for accepting the position, aren't they?"
"And one other."
Leon was beginning to see the whole picture now. Grave continued in his usual way.
"Leon... At the ceremony we are to fight, Bloody Blades."
Leon paused, almost as if he lagged in a video game. A Bloody Blade match was a fight for his family. Each opponent stands within each other's reach, barefoot and topless. Each opponent puts one foot to the rear up on it's toes and a knife is stuck into the ground practically against the foot. Until one combatant gives in the fight continues.
"This is dads wish. This will showcase your skills to the rest of the clan, so there can be no doubt. Today, I will test your normal combat skills."
"But Grave... I've never even been able to touch you. You're too fast. Even in a Bloody Blade match I doubt I could land an attack by accident."
Grave frowned.
"You've changed a lot... Was it really as bad as they say?"
"I know you don't know my other family, but even you would lose yourself if you had to watch Kentler die."
"Fair enough."
Grave would stand and walk outside. Leon would follow shortly, wearing his sleeping pants and a shirt. It was cold out, but Leon doubted it would matter. This fight would end quickly.
