A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

A lone figure stood at the edge of the school's rooftop, overlooking the display of students down below. It was a nice day. At least, that's what most would say. It was warm, sunny, and there was a nice breeze. However, this wasn't the kind of day Nao Morita appreciated. He highly preferred the pleasant coolness and atmosphere of a rainy day. Still, he stood, allowing the breeze to brush over his hair and clothes.
The young man closed his eyes in thought. It'd been a few days since he was sent to this school. Like his experience in his old high school, he blended in with the crowd. Yet the institutions were so much different. His old school at least had some semblance of normality. Here, the figures of authority were so much stricter and more prominent, and the majority of students appeared to not only be idiots, but needlessly violent idiots.
Nao let out a sigh. He mumbled to himself, "Why do I have to be here? And I'm not even talking about this school..."

The door onto the roof would crack open and Steven would step out into the breeze of the day, his hair being blown about somewhat and as such he would pull his hair out of being tied up annoyed in order to retie it up tighter to minimise the winds effect. Steven had been coming up to the roof to think and read, to just escape into fiction as he often did. Only he noticed a guy standing near the edge of the roof looking down at the courtyard below.
"You may not want to stand so close to the edge, if this breeze turns round and decides to pick up some...." Steven would trail off his word, the implication to him was obvious. However Steven wouldn't force the issue, instead heading walking to a clear spot of the roof and sitting down.

"Great. Just great. Just when I thought I had the classrooms figured out." Jude muttered to himself as he walked hurriedly. He was late for class and hadn't the faintest idea of where to go. According to the schedule printout, the classroom was up one more flight of stairs. With an exasperated sigh, Jude adjusted his backpack and trudged onwards.
Jude reached the top of the staircase and pushed open the door, only to be greeted by a gust of air. This was most definitely not the classroom. Jude began to wonder whether classes existed here at all. The other students sure seemed to act like it, and the teachers did more yelling than teaching.
Feeling a little dejected, Jude lost his train of thought when he heard a voice say, "You may not want to stand so close to the edge, if this breeze turns round and decides to pick up some..." The one who spoke was a slim, older looking boy with long, cinnamon colored hair, who proceeded to sit down with a leather-bound book. Strange, Jude thought to himself. Never thought I'd see someone reading for fun here. I've gotta ask him where he got that book.
Then, Jude turned to the other figure on the rooftop: a smaller, well dressed boy with white hair, standing at the edge with his back towards the stairs. That didn't seem like such a safe place to stand. Jude couldn't help but imagine how painful a fall from this height would be, and winced at the thought of it.
Jude didn't want to interrupt, but there was no way he'd be able to get around without some directions. So, he asked, "Heeey. Sorry to bother you guys. But, uh, I think I'm lost. Either of you know where room 405 is? The building only has 3 floors..."

"It's fine. I always wanted to fly," Nao replied casually to Steven's comment on his position on the roof. True, it wasn't the safest place to be, but he didn't really mind. His safety was but an afterthought. Instead of turning to meet this person's arrival, he continued to stare down below. The feeling of being so high up, with the breeze gently caressing his body made him feel relaxed. Free.
Then, the second boy came, inquiring about the location of Room 405. Nao didn't know the school very well himself, having only been there for a few days. The boy was slightly younger than himself he would assume, based on the voice. He turned to the source of the voice, his gaze falling upon a lively-looking boy. Based on the bright eyes and face alone, he could confirm that this boy was indeed younger than him. Of course, the ponytail-wearing boy was taller, but this was something that Nao was accustomed to.
Nao's eyes shifted to the first boy to arrive on the roof, who was now sitting down, reading a book. Orange was the first thing that stood out. Beyond that, the boy's mature, serene face as his eyes scanned over the book's contents reminded him almost of himself.
His eyes met with the younger boy's, who was evidently distraught over the unknown location of his classroom. "Sorry, but I'm new here. Much like you, I would assume." His voice was firm, yet inviting. Unsure of the reading boy's intention on interacting with the newcomer, Nao averted his eyes to him wordlessly.

Steven would shake his head, at the Nao response. Falling and flying were not the same, and knowing Steven if the boy had gone over Steven would have chased and leaped after him in order to protect him, even if it meant getting hurt in the process. Then again Steven did have a way of breaking his fall, but having been thrown off the roof before, Steven really did not want to repeat the experience.
Steven would then turn his head to the new arrival, and sigh. Room 405? "Who told you that you had to go to room 405, cause sounds to me that some one gave you fault information. As you said this building only has three floors, there is no more above this. The side building also only has 2 so wouldn't be there either." Steven explained.

"Ah...thanks." Jude now remembered that the student aide who gave Jude the class schedule had cracked a mischievous grin as he walked away. That detail wasn't a big deal in the rush to get to class, but the brown haired boy's response caused Jude to think back to it.
Not one to dwell on the unpleasant past, Jude directed his attention back to the other two students on the rooftop. Neither of them looked like they were violent criminals. Rather, they seemed quite...well, quiet. Maybe they're here by mistake, too, Jude wondered to himself. Jude decided that both the brown haired boy and the white hair boy warranted further investigation. Class could wait.
He walked over to a nearby guardrail and set his backpack down. "By the looks of things, I'm not making it to that class anytime soon. Screw it, I already took the same one back at my old school, anyway. So what are you guys doing up here? I mean, shouldn't you be in class?" Jude chuckled. He knew it was dumb to laugh at his own joke, but humor was his way of dealing with awkwardness. Ironically, Jude's humor usually just made things more awkward.

Contrary to what Jude might expect, Nao actually relished in awkward humour, and found himself in awkward situations many times because of it. The white-haired boy laughed along softly. His previous coolness shifted to a more bright, inviting persona. His neutral expression was replaced with a playful smirk. "Well, I took the same class at my old school, too. 'Learning to Conform to the Standards of the Government.' Pointless course, if you ask me."
Nao didn't like the idea of school. It was too much work for someone as unmotivated as him, and the things people learn in school just don't have the direct application in life that he desires. Besides that, he just didn't have an interest in the theoretical things that these schools taught. He was more an abstract thinker, leaning towards philosophy and the like.
He'd noticed it before, but after the brief exchange the three already had, he felt his suspicions were confirmed. These two were unlike the rest of the students here. If they were, he'd probably have been pulled into a fight with them already.
The cinnamon-haired boy seemed so much more tranquil and sophisticated in nature than the rest, and the brown-haired boy appeared more friendly and upbeat. Certainly, these two were people he could hold in a much brighter light than the rest of the school's student body. They would need to be studied more, however. These two caught on to Nao's interest.

Steven would look at the guy who had been lead off course with the false class number with a empathic smile. Steven didn't really understand what base level of amusement someone could get from doing such a thing. However, Steven wouldn't care that the fact that the guy said he wouldn't be going to class. Steven would be no hypocrite. Steven however would raise his eye at the other guys response.
"Wow you seem to hold school in contempt. You alright?" Steven would ask Nao. "I don't go to class mostly because I prefer learning from books, but you sound like something worked you up." Steven added, Nao's word made him think there was a history there.

Nao turned to his inquirer. Indeed, he did hold school in contempt. To him, it was a waste of time, a place where he never belonged, a place where he gained... and ultimately lost. He had no problem expressing his discontent with school, but there were some bigger details that he wouldn't share so easily, especially not to a person he'd just met.
His positive air remained as he responded, "Yeah, I'm fine. I just don't see the point of school. I mean, there are more effective and efficient ways to learn." Nao looked down at the book in Steven's hands. "Like books, for example. Especially ones you choose to read... Or, the internet."
The boy smiled mischievously as he looked to the side. He spoke more quietly, "Though the internet can be used for many other things."

"Though the internet can be used for many other things."
Jude considered what the white boy said, and burst into laughter. Perhaps the shock of being dumped into this farce of a high school was affecting Jude's body in strange ways. Or perhaps Jude was just glad to have found a moment of mirth among all the misfortunes of the recent past. It was most likely a bit of both. "Other--heh heh--other things alright. You said it. Hahaha...oh. Sorry sorry. I'm done laughing now. Ahahahaha," Jude shielded his face and struggled to contain the chortling. "Okay I'm done. Really." Even Jude was surprised at himself for cracking up at something like this. Here he was, right in front of a golden opportunity to gain important knowledge and possibly even friends. But instead of approaching the situation with his typical tact, Jude was losing it over mild sexual innuendo.
After mustering his composure, Jude spoke again, "Sorry about that. What I really wanted to say was, how have you two not gone crazy yet? You're different. You guys read books, for crying out loud. I would kill for a good book right now." Then, turning towards the brown haired boy, Jude continued, "Especially you--you look like you've been here for a while. I bet you've seen some shit." Jude shuddered as he imagined what 'some shit' might entail, and made a circular gesture with his index finger between the three boys. "Guys like us, we don't live to fight."
Jude's words had left a bad taste in his own mouth. The last thing that he wanted to do was to sound like a loser, or to bring the mood down. So he added, "But I bet either of you could kick my ass any day." The sound of laughter rang from the rooftop once again.

Nao smiled softly at the way the boy by the railing handled himself. He was glad that he could make someone laugh, but at the same time, he felt uncomfortable with just how much laughter was received. Who knew his way with words had this much power over people? Though, perhaps this guy was just an enigma.
"Like I said before, I've only been here for a few days. I'm sure I'll go insane given a few more," Nao responded casually.
The lively boy continued, "Guys like us, we don't live to fight... But I bet either of you could kick my ass any day."
Nao adjusted his glasses. He got the impression that the brown-haired boy was trying too hard to act 'normal.' Nonetheless, he laughed along softly. It was the considerate thing to do. He also figured that the boy would need some assistance at this school, based on the way he was acting, and the way he was tricked into believing the existence of a fake classroom. So he dropped a subtle hint that he was willing to talk again sometime, and offer his assistance. "Any time, pal. Talk to me whenever you're in need of something. Ass kickings sold separately."

Steven shook his head with a sigh of a laugh and pinching the bridge of his nose, at the exchange between the younger students. Steven would push himself up of the floor and firstly look at Jude. "Actually you'd be surprised, yeah there are a lot of people who are violent in this school, but it also has it's fair share of peeps just trying to get by." Steven explained, some of his friends were the same, they would step up and fight if they had to though, most learned at least that in this school, but it was not something that they actively sought. "Though your right I have been here awhile, but not as long as you think. Not even a year yet, and this is my last year of high school anyway." Steven added, he had started about half a year back, it was a scary thought of what he might have been like had he started at this school as a freshman. Then again it wasn't like his old school didn't have it's share of issues.
Steven would then turn to Nao. "Though yeah it nice to see people meeting and getting on, this school does have it fair share of pointless confrontation. If either of you get into trouble, feel free to look me up. My name is Rosett." Steven said introducing himself.

"Rosett, got it," Jude nodded at the older boy, and then turned to face the younger one. "As for you, I have a feeling that we'll be seeing more of each other since we're both new here. I'll take you up on that ass kicking sometime. It's been a while since I had a good spar, and I'd rather not challenge some of these other students. They might get too excited and knock my head clean off." This was a joke, but Jude figured that there was a real possibility of being decapitated if he wasn't careful.
"Anyways, just call me Jude. I don't know what I have to offer here since you won't need homework help. But hey, if you get into a fight, I am more than willing to throw some rocks--distract the other guy and stuff. Seriously though, if it comes down to pointless confrontation versus just trying to get by, you know which side I'm on."
To say that Jude was glad to meet like-minded individuals, would be an understatement. Loneliness is indeed a frightening and formidable creature. Jude conjectured that Rosett and the other boy probably had complicated pasts, but he felt that he could trust them regardless. Just then, the wind began to pick up, catching Jude off guard and causing him to slightly stumble. Jude balanced himself with the guardrail and dusted his jacket off. Rosett was right about that breeze, he thought.

Nao listened attentively to the experienced boy. He seemed to know the ins and outs of this school. He would be a very helpful contact to have. When that same boy turned to him and spoke about the school body's confrontational tendencies, and offered his help because of said tendencies, Nao nodded. This boy gave off a very knowledgable, capable air. He seemed almost like an older brother. As Nao was thinking this, the boy introduced himself as Rosett. The other remaining boy spoke to him after acknowledging Rosett's introduction. This boy seemed like a truly peaceful soul, wanting to avoid violent means. Still, he mentioned the concept of sparring to Nao. Sparring? In a school like this, sparring did sound like a good idea. It would help him gain experience in fighting to better protect himself against the dangers that awaited him. Nao nodded to him, too. "Right. I expect to see you around." Finally, the boy introduced himself as Jude, a boy who apparently would throw rocks at people in a fight? The mental image made Nao smile with amusement. Suddenly, the wind picked up, lightly pushing Jude into the guardrail. That same wind set the perfect scene for Nao's introduction. Yes. He lowered his head. His hair carried in the wind and shadowed over his eyes, while the slack in his clothing followed in suit. "I'm not one to talk to people on my own accord, but the two of you have proven your worth to me. I will seek you out whenever I am in need, and in turn, I will offer my services to you. I will do my utmost to maintain the sanctity of our destined calling together." The white-haired boy raised his head, revealing his purple eyes, which almost seemed to be glowing furiously. "We were fated to meet on this rooftop, and meet once again at the top of the world. I will not rest until I see to it that it becomes a reality, for I am..." Nao brushed his hand across his hair and pointed to the sky in one swift motion. His voice rose in intensity and volume as he continued, "Nao Morita! Keeper of fate!" The grand scale of this introduction was made purely for comedic effect, but most would find it more awkward than anything. Though that was the way most of Nao's jokes went. Clearing his throat, he returned to a normal, upright standing position and with a neutral expression, "But yeah. I'm Nao. 100% normal, and always willing to help."

Oh, man. Keeper of fate? This Nao guy sure was a character. Rather than being judgmental of Nao's awkward sense of humor, Jude was just glad to know someone like that, someone who didn't take themselves so seriously. Or who knows? Jude thought. Maybe the real Nao is secretly the Keeper of Fate. In that case, he'd be pretty useful to have around. Being at 552 in the first place was evidence that Nao probably wasn't '100% normal' as he had said. But Jude believed that Nao was a well-meaning kid who might have made a few mistakes in the past. And true to his nature, Jude trusted that Nao would be willing to help if it ever came down to it.
Jude addressed Nao, "Sure, man. I'll do my best with that whole sanctity thing. Thanks for offering your help. I got your back, too. Don't mind me if I seem unwilling. That would be just be my inner sloth revealing it self, but I keep my word."
Jude considered himself lucky to have met a friend so soon into his new life here. Was Nao a friend? Only time would tell. Rosett was an apparent ally as well. It would be good to trust these two young men, and see what fruits that trust would bear. Jude made a mental note to open more doors in the future. Doors might lead to more valuable experiences like today's. This had more than made up for Jude's earlier worries. Invigorated, he shouldered his backpack and looked to Rosett for any additional remarks.
