Leon sat on top of his chair and desk throne that had been built for him when he took over his homeroom class not but a week ago. At either side he had a few LG members sitting and the female who had been the ruler of this class before him. She had these ice powers, Leon had heard of Qi before this. However seeing it in action, and fighting it were two separate things. He'd look at her, she said her name was Lin Vaan. In this class she listened to him, but he could tell that's as far as it'd go, so he would get his information from her.
"Lin... I need to talk to you."
She looked up with questioning look before responding like Leon was speaking gibberish.
"Okay... What do you need?"
"Those ice abilities. How'd you do that?"
Lin looked down slowly before trailing them back up to meet Leon's eyes. It was not an odd thing to ask considering, but she found it practically laughable that Leon didn't know.
"How do you not know? That Roar move you used was Qi wasn't it?"
Leon stared before raising a hand to adjust the choker around his neck.
"No, this puts the energy in my throat. And my tattoo was created by our master tattooist."
Lin shook her head in disbelief, he had no powers, but not only went toe to toe with her; he beat her. It amazed her that he was only now curious about it.
"It's called Qi, an inner force of energy that everyone is born with. For some it awakens in a time of need, for others it's always been part of their life and they don't even know it. For some its Ice, for others it's claws or freaky eyes. It's different for everyone."
Leon listened trying to understand. He could understand that people had their own personalities or life force, that made sense. But he had been in plenty of time's of need. Nothing had ever sprung up for him, he dedicated his life to conflict and growth... Maybe there was something more.
"How do you go about discovering what you have?"
Lin shook her head.
"It's different for everyone."
Leon jumped down from his throne. Walked to the middle of the class, who already knew to move shit out of the way. He would turn to Lin with a smile.
"Then keep hitting me with your power until I can do it back."
Lin's mouth hung open. She couldn't believe what he was saying. Maybe it was because she had fought him once already, or maybe it was the sheer idiocy of the idea.
"Can this wait?"
"No."
She looked at everyone in the room as they watched kind of nervous that this would be a replay of what happened last time. She would stand and move to a safe spot... Generally safe spot anyways. She had one move that might work for this practice. So she stuck a hand out and it would be covered in ice and frost would seep off it.
"Ready?"
Leon tensed and squinted a bit. He would cringe, but he knew this was for the best... Right?
"Let's do this."
She would form a ball of ice before it would shoot at Leon as a pillar. The pillar would slam into Leon's chest, hurling him into the wall. The ice itself seemed to stick and wrap itself about him a bit. It was cold and it was prolonging the pain. That's when the second pillar hit, this one hurt more. Leon shifted quickly to try and dodge the next one as it hit his knee instead.
Leon hit the ground and the ice shattered from his torso he would push and look up. A pillar on the way Leon would push into a spin so when he hit the ground he would roll out of the way. The blond would move to get up, it was difficult, he couldn't move his right leg. He limped to the left as a second pillar hit his left leg, he couldn't move very well as another hit his left arm.
Leon could tell the pillars hurt more if they hit the same place twice, he wasn't sure how much that would increase. He really didn't want to find out how far that goes, but when the next pillar hit his right arm he couldn't dodge. The next ball of ice was raised towards his face.
~You bitch. You gonna hit me in the face with this one?~
Leon thought as he gritted his teeth he was angry sure, but this was supposed to go all out. She fired with little hesitation and it came streaking for his face.
~No, fuck that.~
Leon would open his mouth and catch the pillar with his teeth, it still hurt but he chomped down breathing the whole thing in and swallowing. That's right, just like some history books the last time he wasn't able to use his arms... He fucking ate it, cause fuck ice. Even Lin stalled, unsure of what to do at that point. Leon felt the ice on his legs crack.
~So it's short term.~
Leon flexed his legs and the ice shattered, she fired another pillar and Leon ducked it, rolling to the right, bending his arms shattering the ice from his arms, he saw her stance and got up, putting both his hands out, he could feel something. It was just a twinge, but there was something there. What changed?
The next pillar shot out and Leon ate that one too, on a hunch. It hurt like a bitch, but he was trying to follow his hunch. Lin gave up trying to figure out Leon's issue and fired again, Leon slapped the ice pillar to the side, it froze his arm, he stuck out his other arm and concentrated, flexing. It was more prominent now, the feeling was getting stronger.
~Is it because I'm eating her Qi? Is it making mine stronger?~
Leon gobbled down another pillar, the pain was immense, but he had to, this was the only way. It seemed the only way to really figure this out, was to actually find that pain threshold simply because he had to eat her attacks... Literally. He saw the next one coming and decided not to hold back anymore, maybe at full power this would be easier. As he opened his mouth to chomp down his antlers sparked through his body, unlocking his gear and releasing his true abilities. Chewing down the pillar finally it wasn't enough.
"Lightning God"
Leon's tattoo stretched and grew, streaking all over his body, up his neck and across his face. He felt something else too. Something beyond his understanding. It was like a muscle in his mind he had never felt before, flexed or used. So he knew he could feel it, could he move it, flex it? As Leon tried Lin created a pillar and grabbed it with her hand charging Leon to use it as a weapon. Leon flexed the muscle and energy shot through his body, electricity covering it, he'd catch her ice weapon between his teeth and inhale it in a deep breath. Kicking her back not hard but enough to get her away.
"I feel something."
Lin stopped a ball of ice spinning over her hand, as she breathed a bit heavy. Using so much of her energy like this was unusual for her. Though she was unaware as to how quickly Leon was moving thanks to his own latent ability being able to eat and absorb Qi energy. Leon held his hands out concentrating harder, trying to visualize, putting everything he was into it. Lin raised the ball and fired another pillar, Leon hadn't even noticed being slammed with it in the chest throwing him a few feet, rolling and getting up he breathed in another pillar. Leon was feeling the hurt, it was intense, cold, but it also burned. He felt numb, and was getting more and more exhausted as time went on, but he was so close, he felt like he was right there.
He felt like he was a push away, he felt like he could just take that last step, but wasn't there yet. She fired another ice pillar, Leon ate it raising his hands, this time a glow and electric charge jumped between his hands and fingers, another pillar and he ate that. He felt like he was going to be bleeding if he ate anymore.
~Come on.... Come on! COME ON!~
Leon was getting frustrated at his lack of power in this. He couldn't summon it, he knew it was there, he could flex it. Why couldn't he push it the way he wanted? Another pillar came in, the pain of opening his jaw, his lungs hurt, his body ached. He had to, inhaling deeply pulling the pillar into his mouth he munched it down. The pain was beyond describable, but the power influx. That's what he needed, the power. He was lacking in the power, but now he felt like he was on the level. Like his cup had been empty this whole time and Lin had filled it with her power. Was it possible? Was this the way it needed to be for everyone? No, Lin said this was different for everyone, so was this unique to just Leon? These god like powers...
~No, I'm not going to let this go between my fingers, this is the equalizer, the great power struggle.~
Finally a solid glow would erupt from his hands, a golden hue beyond anything Leon had seen before. It shot forth in a beam of lightning about four inches in diameter hurling towards Lin, who was dumbfounded once again. Not only did Leon take everything from her attacks and adapt quickly, but in his first attempt, his first true drill to try and figure it out... Here he was firing Qi based Lightning right for her. There was nothing she could do, it slammed right into her midsection, the lightning exploding around her body as it picked her up off her feet. Her flesh dabbed pink in places from the burns, her muscles going into spasms that shook her violently for a second or two. The force slamming her into a far wall, as it felt like she was going to snap her own muscles from how much her muscles were contracting.
Leon fell to his knee's, his arms dropping to his sides, the backs of his hands sliding to a stand still against the ground. He looked down huffing, wincing in pain from time to time. This was some hellish training, but this had to only be the beginning or else Leon was afraid this power would vanish from him. Getting helped up he'd help the others help Lin up before they returned to their chairs. The training having taken it's toll on the both of them. Everyone in the class just kind of rolled with it, though none of them really understood what just happened.
Hell Leon wasn't even sure what just happened. He had his own theories, but he knew now the only way to master it was to understand it completely. His time for research would begin a new. Once they caught their breath Lin had something to say.
"Leon... You have to be a prodigy or way above lucky. Electricity... Shit how do you luck out?"
Leon laughed a bit.
"Actually, I think I got most of that power from you. Every time I ate some of your ice, I could feel power welling up in my gut. I tapped into that feeling and that's how I was able to do what I did. So, thank you. I literally wouldn't of been able to do it without you."
Lin laughed. She had heard of that technique before oddly enough.
"They call that the God Eater. I've heard of it, there was word of it from Asia. Maybe read up on it. The first step is knowing the name."
Leon would take the advice to heart. At least now he knew what to call it. Things were about to change for sure.
