Siobhan waited in the empty courtyard, feeling a light breeze drift across the grass. Varying shades of yellow and red hues glimmered under the retreating sun; multiple trees ruffling their leaves and discarding molten ones. Autumn was a nice season. Her birthday was soon and it would be the first one she wouldn't spend at the Arden Manor. And maybe... it was a ridiculous and hopeless notion but something still whispered with a bit of stubborn hope that it wouldn't be another year of loneliness. Although loneliness wouldn't be her only problem if the evening hashed out the way she had set it up.
Her opponent wasn't yet to be seen, but Siobhan was there early. She needed time to think. Normally not an impulse maker, this was near the top of the list for most drastic ideas. At this rate, how would she even live through the rest of the year? Moving out from the only home she'd ever known was one thing, but challenging a gang leader was another. There's reasonable excuse for this. No, there wasn't and the only reason she could barely manage to offer herself, let alone others simply was, "I heard about them in a bar." Multiple words of degenerative origin listed through her head, but nothing along the lines of safe or smart was one of them.
Brushing at the edge of her school designated uniform, Siobhan sighed quietly to herself. Maybe it was the idea of having a gang would be like a family. The heiress had yet to know what was so great about those things. To others, she could always use the excuse of, "gaining intel on Macht", but the title of School Captain was currently in the balance of being passed on. There was no solid reason it was something she simply felt was right. Siobhan was aware that she didn't have much to offer. Going through the Sentinel's attacks on New York City had proven a few things to her. Hell, even some of the things Macht and Valo said had weaseled their way down into her.
Either way, Siobhan was ready to fight. What for, she hoped the gang could tell her. First though, she needed to prove her resilience to the leader. It would probably be a hard, fast battle that ended in her being wounded more than the other, but negotiation was her strong point. Convince him. I just have to convince him before I give out. Ten minutes at her very best. Siobhan was nothing if not willful. If the leader was able to recognize her true intentions, all the better. Losing fucking sucks. Even more than that though, this shit is going to hurt.

Awww shit- Another one huh? And to think I was gonna get a lazy day.. Uugh, hang-over is killin' me..
Knuckles strolled lazily into the courtyard, barely catching the door h e pushed open before it swung back to his face. Bumping it with his shoulder, Austin moved down the steps and glancing around. He didn't know the girl he was to meet. But Knuckles had put out word that the Apex Warriors were recruiting and it seemed to be getting heard.
Right thumb and index finger rubbing at his temples, Austin moved toward the figure he had seen while walking down the steps. As he approached, he stopped a few yards away barely raising his left hand to wave toward her.
"Sorry I made you said.. Rough night. So you want to join Apex huh? What's your name?"
Knuckles probably wasn't in the best state to present himself to someone looking to join. But it is what it is. Austin would straighten up, hang his right thumb on the front of his belt at the middle and shift his weight onto his left foot as he waited for her response.

Siobhan's first instinct when meeting who she assumed to be the leader of Apex was to lie. Her second was to see how far she could push him. All bad thoughts and bad things that in the end would get her ass kicked. Negotiations. We are here for negotiations. Why was that so hard to remind herself? Folding her arms in front of her chest, trying to relax the nervous tension in her shoulders, the heiress assumed a brisk tone in hopes of coming off more professional than monotone. Siobhan chose her words carefully, trying not to come off as haughty while she scrutinized the leader.
"Austin.. correct? My name's Siobhan. Sorry to call you out when... you're not at.. your best."
Reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, she paused momentarily to steel herself. Gangs, bonds, she never really saw the point in them. Emotional investment? Tricky business. Maybe the problem is that I'm always searching for ways to use people. It made sense in that light, although the heiress couldn't think of any other reason to want to attach herself to someone. People are messy.. unpredictable.. no rules or regulations.. just... difficult. Moving her eyesight back to stare at "Knuckles" (What an odd nickname) with her usual unnerving gaze, Siobhan wondered if he too would give her the same lines she expected from Macht and had received from Valo.
"Apex believes their members to be their family, am I wrong? Understandably, one would be protective of current residing members and wary of others that would like to affiliate themselves. I think.. I want to know what it's like.. to be a member of something... to be a sister."
Siobhan blinked at the own strangeness of her words. That was new. She didn't realize her own true intentions towards the matter. Nonetheless, they were whispered so lightly, she wished that Knuckles didn't hear her. It would be more than a bit embarrassing.
"If that's not enough, I'm fairly familiar with the mafia world. My father is from Russia and runs a few businesses in town, meets and some high-scale pubs. If initiation requires intel, I can get it for you."

Austin had waved her words away about him not being at his best. Throwing that casual smirk of his onto his face as he stared toward her and listened to her words. She seemed like she was yearning for some kind of family. Knuckles knew nothing about this girl, but maybe she had similar family issues he could relate with. He wouldn't press her on it though. Instead he chose to simply explain Apex a little.
"If it's family and loyalty you seek, I suppose you made a good choice. We always have each others backs. No matter how small or big the issue. And the same will be expected of you. If you so chose to take us as family though, make sure you understand the consequences.."
Knuckles was sure to keep his eyes on her, studying her. While he didn't suspect her of any foul play, he was trying to judge whether or not she would even be Apex material.
"Betrayal is not taken lightly. The only way out is a body bag. Or if you get all of us to give you a pass.."
Austin would let it sink in as he stretched out wide, releasing a slight groan as he straightened up, cracking his knuckles before doing the same to his neck. Returning his hands to his hips, he would speak to her again, a questioning tone sounding out.
"I feel like I have to ask.. You in any kind of trouble? Just need to know before hand. Don't want any surprises.."

OoC: Don't know if you're still up for this! Forgive the REALLY late response but I had some things come up that forced me to take a long hiatus... Trying to get back on track!
Siobhan genuinely wondered what he was really digging for when he asked if she was in trouble. The attempts on her life had lessened out to about every other day now, which was a bit of a relief, but her father still wanted her head. Shiny nice platter, something to watch while he continued to eat a small portion of food and a big chunk of alcohol. Yeah, he wanted her dead for sure. Smoothing her sweating palms on her skirt, Siobhan couldn't resist the urge to tuck hair behind her ear again. Then again, maybe she should mention something just in case she accidentally got shot...
"I wouldn't really consider it trouble, but I'm figuring others wouldn't take it well if I were to show up with lead in my side, haha."
A bad attempt at humor, but the girl had never been this uncharacteristically nervous in her life. There was no plan, no objective, just her knocking on a foreign man's door, looking to find family inside. I don't.. need family. I'm just fine like this. But Siobhan knew the truth. Leaving her father had been the first step of many, but not near enough to get her back on her feet- that was her job.
"I understand that joining makes things a matter of life and death. But I face that everyday. At the very least I'd like to have the reassurance at the end of the day that there might be someone waiting for me wherever I return to. Whether that's the APEX gang or one person doesn't matter to me. If I were to die today, I don't want to be alone."

(OOC: Sorry this reply took so long! Hope you're still interested.)
Austin stood there, staring at the girl as she spoke. He would smirk a little after she finished her sentence, before shrugging. It was clear to him she wasn't comfortable with spilling all the details, which was fine with Austin. He had secrets of his own, after all.
"Well, You won't have to worry too much about it. As long as your loyal, there wont be any issues.. And we will help you out with anything you need."
He would shift onto his other leg, right hand lifting to sweep over the top of his head again before extended toward the girl, his fingers waving her onward.
"If you still wish, I welcome you into Apex arms. First, I need to see how you handle yourself in a fight. From therr, we see what needs to be improved.."
He stood in front of her, his arm dropping back to his side. He was going to let her get a few shots in, simply to allow him better judgement of her abilities. Apex was beginning to grow and he wanted to know the capabilities of everyone patched in.Hj

Ooc: Not at all! Thanks for sticking with me!
Siobhan immediately felt herself go on guard. She had always been more intelligence than brute force, something her father liked to try and beat out of her. Tactics were good things, but only when they had the actual power to go behind them. And now, I fight the leader of a gang. Before, this idea would've been a great idea, something she would've spent weeks planning. Siobhan knew nothing about his fighting style and from what she had assumed from his physical appearance, he was stronger than she was. That's fine and all, I guess I'd just have to go for something more realistic like his eyes. Damn, distance would be in her favor but her reach wasn't that far.
"Fine by me. I'm in a skirt though, so don't let the panty shots distract you."
Siobhan grimaced at the pieces of what she had hoped to be a died out persona resurfacing. These past few weeks had been spent trying to rebuild herself. Sliding her back leg behind her, she moved her arms up in defense.
"By the way, don't limit your hits. It's a good thing to knock me around, helps me adjust better."
Smirking with her own grim humor, Siobhan half wondered if he'd catch the joke. Most likely not, coming into PHS #552 had brought to her attention that many people didn't find the amusement out of traumatic experiences. Battered woman syndrome. Get it Knuckles? I won't leave. That's the joke.
"Go ahead. I'll follow your lead."

"Heh. I like you already, sister."
Austin would smirk as he stared toward her. She seemed as reqdy as she would ever be, those hazel eyes watched her settle into her stance. He would allow a few more silent moments to pass before he would shift his upper-body forward and those muscular legs would kick off as he began to run toward Siohban.
"I hope I don't break your sense of humor too!"
She didn't want him to hold back, but he would at least a little. Nothing good would come out of breaking a new recruit before you got any use out of them, right? Knuckles would start off simple, slowing his approach as he neared, bringing his hands up into his loose boxing stance. His left hand would snap out with a quick jab toward her face.
(OOC: Gonna have to say this took place before the aw/lg thread. He still has both eyes.)

Siobhan wondered if she was gaining points with this guy or if her dry humor simply matched up with his. Either way, she didn't have much time to ponder it, Knuckles quickly pulling himself into a fighting stance. Something she was familiar with, thank god. Although she really couldn't vouch for exactly what his style was, she did recognize the stance. In fact, that was the same style that knocked her on her ass a few times. Resisting the urge to blink, Siobhan felt a smudge of relief that his speed was greater, but nothing she hadn't seen before.
"Nah I don't really have a sense of humor, I'm just a bitter person."
Shifting her weight onto her back foot, Siobhan let out a long exhale. Knuckles's left hand came out first, a light start really. Siobhan pivoted, rolling in towards his body. Even so, the hit glanced across her cheek, knocking against the bone. Distantly, she wondered if that one would bruise, but she didn't have much time for a counterattack. Moving to plant her left heel onto Knuckles's right foot, Siobhan would swing her elbow up towards his jaw. The girl was slower, so if she was blocked, her left elbow would at least swing in towards his rib. I really don't pack much in strength, but at least elbows are the strongest points of the body. That at least gives me some advantage.

Knuckles would barely graze the girl with his initial attack and it seemed he made no attempt to try and adjust or dodge as she moved in to attack him. Her heel pressed on his foot and her elbow struck clean on the underside of Austin's chin. However it was likely she would note the lack of movement on his part. His chin would have raised up a few inches, but that was it.
"Heh.."
His chuckle escape his lips and he would react right after. His neck and upper-body muscles would tense before Austin violently threw his head forward intent on bouncing his dome off her own.
He would follow up by pivoting on his left leg, yanking his right foot from under her heel to off-balance the girl even more, if the headbutt hadn't already done so. And his left side would shift toward her as he would attempt to ram his shoulder into her body and send her sprawling backwards.

Siobhan's elbow landed, giving her a brief moment of triumph. Ha! How's that for skills? The moment was short lived however, a pit of premonition sinking into her gut. Knuckles didn't move. In fact, he laughed. The girl had enough time to furrow her brow before she was sent reeling. Siobhan blinked, the hard knock giving her a few black spots in her vision, before she released the world was tilting underneath her. Her left foot slipped, Siobhan landing hard on her ass. As her stunned reaction settled in, a dark scowl appeared on her face. Did he just... headbutt me? The girl looked up at Knuckles in disbelief before flicking her head to the side to laugh bitterly.
"Looks like you got your panty shot after all."
Standing up, the girl dusted off her skirt, not bothering to look at Knuckles for the time being. It was a struggle to not pull her knife out on the guy out of pure spite. Skills test, not a bloodbath skills test. Taking a deep breath and summoning some patience that even Buddha had to appreciate, Siobhan looked back up at him, getting back into position. Fine, body slam her as many times as necessary, throw her weight around. If the objective was to see how she would lose her cool or retaliate, she wasn't going to give him that satisfaction. No, instead she would show him the same resilience that had drove her to seek him out. Siobhan wasn't leaving here without a legitimate fight.

"Hah. What can I say? You girls love me."
Knuckles hadn't made any more attempts to attack. He allowed her to get to her feet, eyes directed downward to look at her, arms at his sides. But he would remain still for only a few brief moments before he proceeded to attack.
Austin would step forward and to his right, his left arm lifting as that meaty gloved hand looked to grasp at Siohban's left arm at her bicep. His feet would plant, weight shifting onto his left foot as he would look to yank her toward his left. His right leg would snap out low, intending to land his shin against the back of the girl's legs and kick them clear out from under her.
If it had all gone as he planned, her body would have gone horizontal in the air. And Knuckles would react quickly, to scoop the girl up in his arms, leg under her knees and the other against her upper-back, craddling her like a baby.
At which point he would just drop her and double step backwards, laughing as he did.

Siobhan moved her entire body back, sliding on her right heel, trying to evade Knuckles's grab for her arm. What was he planning by making such an obvious move? Her brow furrowed, but not before her mistake was revealed. Knuckles completely swept her feet down from under her, gaining the element of surprise. Siobhan dropped like a rock. Oddly enough, in her flailing attempt to right her balance, her hand latched onto Knuckles's forearm as he scooped underneath her knees. Hoisting her upwards, Siobhan cursed her lightweight body that made it so easy for her to be in compromising positions like this. She had but a moment to give Knuckles a dark look before he dropped her.
Dropped her. On the ground. And laughed.
Siobhan didn't move at first, bewildered by the strong emotional reaction she was experiencing. What was this familiar feeling? Only had it appeared once before, but it was so brief, unlike now when it continued to brew and strengthen. Ah that's right. The incident with the Knicker Man. The memory was still undecided if it was actually a drunk hallucination, but the feelings were still strongly impressed. From the stripping of her clothes to the dark laugh that thought it could parade away with her dignity, this emotion was but one- fury.
"Girls love you for flipping their skirts? No, you're missing the whole point. Girls only love you if you manage to get their shirts off, and in some cases their underwear~"
Siobhan sat up fluidly, casting a coy grin up to Knuckles. From there, because he was too far away, she stood up fully and took a few steps backwards. In the case of being confronted by a testosterone filled man who completely overpowered her, Siobhan always had one flawless strategy. Crossing her arms, the girl pouted at him, narrowing her eyes.
"Is this a fight or a game to see how much you can humiliate me? Come on, at least level the playing field a bit here. Tell you what, how about I show you the real reason we girls are so tolerant of men like you. From now on, every hit requires the opponent to strip one article of clothing. How about it champ? Ready to play?"

"You might be right. And WOW.. You really got a knack for negotiations, huh?"
Austin would chuckle again after he spoke. This one was an interesting one, wasn't she? Knuckles figured it wouldn't hurt to oblige the girl's request. After all, it wasn't like he was going to be the one stripped nekked!
"Fine, whatever you want, Sweetheart . But know this.. You're gonna have to work twice as hard to see 'the goods'!"
It was unlikely that Austin would really allow it to go that far, though he would remain silent about that part. Not because she wasn't attractive, but because he wasn't a pig. And while he wasn't afraid to hit a girl, he was still against degrading them. He treated the women he liked with respect. Considering the issues he had with his own mother, Someone somewhere must have done something right in his past.
His hands would lift and he would wiggle his fingers toward himself, indicating he wanted her to come at him again.

Siobhan smiled sweetly, adding in a lift of her shoulder just to give it the flirtatious charm. Knuckles agreed which was equally satisfying as his remark to her negotiation skills. Which were stellar not that he would know. Alright Sia, now that you've completely forged a ludicrous deal which most likely will backfire, what's the plan now? Siobhan didn't have a plan. No, not having a plan had gotten her into this mess. The only reply she had left was, "I'll wing it." Which is exactly what she was counting on, with maybe a trick here or there hiding up her sleeve.
"Don't worry hun, I'm sure there isn't much there for me to see."
To Knuckles, it would appear to him as Siobhan winking and then snickering. The girl was actually moving behind him, sighing silently to herself. No, she couldn't knife him quietly, but damn her pride wanted her to. Especially because then she'd be stripping clothes of the already pathetic school uniform. Beggars can't be choosers, there's always worse Sia. At least this guy's just joking around. Siobhan couldn't punch very hard so she would settle for kicking the back of Knuckles's knees. She didn't expect to drop him or anything, so immediately afterwards she would retreat back a few steps. How's that one shithead? Siobhan fought being smug just yet. Swiping out her knife, the girl would cut a deep slit across the top of her thigh before concealing the weapon once more. Knuckles's distraction should've lasted for her to be concealed behind him, so hopefully her strike would buy her the necessary time for the next plan of action. Assuming her distraction lasted long enough.
"The hell?" She would mutter afterwards, swiping at the welling blood. It was bleeding a fair amount more than anticipated. Letting out a harsh gasp somewhere between amusement and grim humor, the girl felt her face go slightly ashen. Too much blood Sia, too much.Super Handy Mirror: Once per thread, the user can create a reflection of themselves to distract the opponent!
