notes here. @tagged words: 2010 | Some are born to help the weak, others are born to kill the strong. This one got the rotten side of the coin.... There once was a small village in a unpopulated region of Japan. From that small japanese village, there came a great man, Himawari Murasaki. He was a even greater warrior, and fought in many battles. This man eventually married a woman by the name of Sakura Murasaki. Together, the couple had a single daughter. Her name was Etsuko Murasaki. Meaning "joyful child." The two parents had to leave on a journey, so they left Etsuko to live with Himawari's childhood friend and dojo master; Tenzai Hatori. Tenzai showed Etsuko the ways of Tenzai Ninjutsu, and the ways of the Ninja. Why is this so important? Well, it lead to the day Etsuko was denied the liberty of being a child. At the age of 10, she was sent on a mission along with Tenzai. The mission:Steal the sacred Scroll of the Monkey. From this point on, is the detail of that important day. Place:The near mountains, bandit's base. Time:6 years in the past. "Come on Etsuko, we must make haste." Said Hatori as he looked around the corner of a rock wall to make sure the coast was clear. Etsuko nodded as she prepared her weapons quietly. By this age, she was highly skilled at using both the Katana and the Wakizashi, as well as many other important tools. Tenzai then quickly and cunningly leaped out and began to dual with multiple bandits, pulling off flips and multiple decapitations. Etsuko was well used to seeing things such as this, and was not fazed. Etsuko then leaped out as well, flying past many foes, with both swords aimed at either passing bandit. "I'll handle the ones out here! You go on ahead!" Tenzai would say while tossing a bandit at another. Etsuko would dexterously enter the bandit base, dodging many traps and other obstacles. Suddenly, she saw it:The Scroll of the Monkey. Etsuko made a mad dash for the scroll. She jumped out for it, reaching with her hand. "STOP THIEF!!" It seemed as though the chief of the bandits was notified and had been carefully been guarding the very sacred treasure. He threw multiple knives at a blinding speed. Etsuko barely dodged it...or so she thought until she noticed a sudden and highly unpleasant pain in her stomach along with a single drop of blood touching the ground like the first rain drop does on a stormy day. A knife had gotten her. Etsuko had never been scared before, nor had she had such a bad wound before. Furthermore, Master was always there to protect her. Etsuko just sat watching the blood soak through her clothes as the bandit chief scoffed and ridiculed her and her master whom he could only assume was dead at this current moment. Remember how it was mentioned that this was an important day? Well, as you know. Etsuko lacked one thing: The ability to use qi. She could never wrap her head around the complex idea. Especially since the theory had only been recently thought of in her native country. Ninjutsu sometimes used interchangeably with the modern term ninpō is the strategy and tactics of unconventional warfare, guerrilla warfare and espionage purportedly practiced by the shinobi. However, this was only known by that name for Etsuko's village, as the now day term is known by New Yorkers as Qi, and is of course used by many special individuals. As we get back to the subject, the bandit chief grew ever closer, eager to finish the job off. Etsuko for once was afraid. Afraid of death. She wanted her master, or ANYONE to save her. but that obviously wasn't very likely to happen in such a remote location like that of the Bandit's base. Etsuko knew what she had to do. She knew crying wouldn't help anything. From this point on she vowed to never give in to such childish emotions. There was no room for those trivial things in the ninja world. Etsko got up and quickly yet painfully took the knife out of her stomach and flew towards the bandit chief at a blinding speed. to his surprise, he noticed a dark film covering the weapons. Was this Ninjutsu? No! it couldn't be! The bandit chief thought before being stabbed by both her and his own weapons into his abdominal area. He gave a shriek but died almost instantly. Etsuko rose up from the dead body. She was in a daze. Becoming suddenly weak and lightheaded. Probably from the loss of blood. But regardless of the pain or aftermath, she wanted to complete this mission. Even if it meant utter death. Etsuko grabbed the scroll...smiled...then fell cold to the ground. It seemed this was the end of the line for her short and meaningless life. Place:Village Hut Time:The next day, 6 years ago. Etsuko woke on a laid out bed over the floor of her master's home. Looking around she saw him sitting at a porch. He would turn to her slowely, smile, then say, "Etsuko, you did very well. It's thanks to you and your skill that we have secured this scroll. I'm proud. Now get some rest, your wounds had not fully healed." Ah yes, that was right. Etsuko had almost forgotten that she had been stabbed. She thought she was dead for sure. Was it...qi? Is that what master used? Etsuko thought to herself. On another note, what was the scroll for? Why was it so important that master have it? Etsuko turned to her left. There was a picture of mother and father. Although she had never met them, she held a high respect for them. One day, she wanted to meet them. That would be wonderful, Etsuko thought to herself quietly as she looked to the ceiling. She closed her eyes and fell asleep. Ok, lets fast forward 5 years. It had been 5 years. Etsuko still has yet to hear from her seemingly "missing" parents. She is sent on missions almost every day, by this point being a master at her craft. Somewhere in the 5 year gap she had grown to loves books. Romance ones in particular. As a matter of fact, she had become SUCH a big fan, she had already almost owned the whole 5 book collection of this light novel series called "Make out:", with varying titles coming after the colon. It was as you could say her guilty pleasure. AHEM! Enough about books for now. Day after day, Etsuko had practiced a peculiar qi ability known now by her as the Aku burēdo. Or shadow blade. It came almost naturally as you could say. Today was no different than any day. She would give a farewell to her Master then head out to the nearest bamboo forest to resume her training. She would approach a bamboo tree. "Aku burēdo!" She would shout as a small blade of darkness would emerge out of thin air. She would then position herself before charging and cutting down bamboo tree after tree with the highest of accuracy. It was truly a sight to behold. This seemed to bring back the question:How did she become able to access such prowess? All master could give was very nebulous answers, which to be honest, didn't help much. Like a fortune cookie, it was rare to get anything from it. Etsuko decided to head out and grab lunch for her and master, as they usually didn't like to store food considering how badly it drew bares and the like to their house. One thing Etsuko also did, was learn english. Over the 5 year course, she had came into contact with a American tutor traveling through the country's writing some sort of novel.Yes, a native had entered the village. Why must it be brought to focus? Well just a little while ago, foreigners were strictly forbidden to enter the village borders, however, that law had been lifted 3 years ago. With the times changing, the village was slowely becoming more modernized. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing? That is for you to decide. After buying today's lunch, which consisted of Gohan(or plain rice), pickled plum, some salmon(which is Esuko's favorite), and a couple bags of tea, to which she would brew in a tea pot upon her arrival back home. Master Tenzai welcomed her back before resuming the deciphering of the mysterious Scroll of the Monkey. It made her think again. Why was that scroll so important? Master Tenzai had been deciphering the damned thing for years, with many rests and pit stops of course. She decided to ask again, as she had 5 years ago. At that time, he had only replied with:"It is not important for you to know now." But curiosity had reached it's peak by this point. Etsuko walked and sat next to Master Tenzai on the porch, staring off at the cherry blossoms that covered the yard. She then turned to him. "Master, why is that scroll so important? I do not ask for it's contents, I only wish to know the reason for its significance. Is that too much to ask?" Tenzai would stop and sigh, he would then look to Etsuko with a saddened expression. Why, she knew not. He then looked off to the horizon. "This scroll...foretells a ancient prophecy. Of what, well...I'm still trying to figure that out." "I see." Etsuko would say as she too, look to the horizon. She made sure to not show the disappointment in her voice, as she did not want to upset master anymore than he already seemed to be at the current moment. Etsuko would then get up, and slowely walk back to the tea which seemed to be steaming over. The conversation was not mentioned again for the remainder of the day, as she was afraid Master would grow tired of her annoyance. That night Etsuko finished off the last of "Make out:Paradise", with much disappointment from the fact the book ended at a cliff hanger. Guess she'll start the next volume tomorrow. She thought to herself as she put out the lamp and went into a deep slumber. Place:Tenzai's House Time:Near the present. Etsuko suddenly awoke in a cold sweat. Master was pacing the room, grabbing many shelf items. He noticed she was awake and approached her. "Etsuko, get up, you must make haste. Your last mission is tonight." Etsuko was still somewhat in a daze, and hadn't fully processed master's words, but heeded them anyway. She would get up and get dressed for the mission. Once she was ready, her and master left the house. "If you need me I'll be at the village chief's place. I have a few errands to run. Good luck, and remember...I'll always love you Etsuko." and with those loving parting words, he was off, into the shadows, like most ninja end up doing more often than they realize. Etsuko went off into the night, looking to the note of directions that Master Tenzai had left her. From there, she traveled out of the village. Across forests, mountains, and many, many, plains. Eventually, she arrived at an old port town. The one that she was directed to go to on the master's note. From there, she traveled to the most secluded part of the town: The Dragon's Shrine. A very sacred place indeed. Etsuko finally arrived after jumping from the roof of a very fancy building. The village was quiet and unpopulated at this time of the night. Etsuko waited patiently from behind the sacred shrine for what felt like a longer gap of time then that of the 5 years. Suddenly a sound. Esuko peaked out from behind the shrine and saw two cloaked figures. It was time to strike. Ignorance is bliss |
