A brand new group is on the making, The Apostles, a Pillar-like group led by none other than our brand new headmaster, Gregoire Girard. A student body that would lead students and enforce the law on this little school of ours. Little is still known about this student body, but who knows? It might just be what the school needs.

A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

So, people who know me know that I'm currently enrolled in university. For my composition class, there were several articles we had to review and analyze. One article really interested me, called Brain Gain, While I am personally interested in it due to the transhumanism elements present in it, as well as the fact that I'm a university student and thus in the audience meant for this article, I was curious as to your guy's views. Performance enhancers are generally more present in college or university level students then high school students, but then this is 552. How prevalent do you guys figure various drugs such as steroids or neuroenhancers are in the world of 552? And what are your personal thoughts on the use of these drugs, be they physical or mental stimulants, in real life?

*checks, reads, shrugs*
While this be true, I'm still curious as to the thoughts of everyone, both them and their character/s.

Setting like ours, it's not shocking that PEDs would be all up in the school.

I guess I've never thought about physically enhancing drugs being in 552. I've always thought of the people being too messed up to worry about steroids and such. It is an interesting point to bring up indeed.
In character, I don't see why people haven't been using them more. Paired with the right strength training, you could have your character so buffed out it would be near impossible for you to be beat. Of course strength can only go so far, but you get my point - It's something that could probably be used more.
In real life, I think it's wrong to use them on a proffesional level, or at least in high schools and universities. If you just want to be buff for whatever reason, I think that you should be able to use them.
I know they also have an actual medical use, however. When I was born, my diaphram wouldn't push hard enough for me to get enough breath in me. They had to give me steroids just to breath. So I understand when people actually need steroids to function properly, but when it's just to improve your already working body I don't think people should really use them.
Sorry if I kinda just rambled on, but these are my thoughts on the subject.

Well, those are a different type of steroids. I think it's the anabolic kind that offers the physical edge that people frown upon. The ones for medical use aren't a big deal if used as intended, I think. As far as just using them for the purpose of general physical fitness...on one hand, you're right in that if it's not used for sports, it doesn't really hurt anyone else. Still, the negative impact it can have on the person taking them...hormonal issues, psychological issues, the long-term damage it does on the body...not worth it to me.

Interesting thing, PEDs. Most people associate them with body builders and getting tons of extra muscle. The amounts that those guys use are scary and definitely health-risks. But anabolics that pro athletes use, like a sprinter or a football player, are magnitudes smaller than what a body builder uses. The use of steroids in athletics is usually not to become buff, but to allow ever harder training. Cause anabolics allow the body to recover from intense training faster. Better recovery means more training, more training means stronger/faster/more skilled. And then there's non-anabolic PEDs that increase oxygen in the blood, amphetamines for alertness, etc. The amounts used by athletes are usually pretty safe, especially if properly cycled and eventually use is stopped at the end of the sporting career. Personally as someone in the fitness field, I think they should be legal in sports above the collegiate level. Pretty much all elite athletes are on something or another, if you're not you're not in the top 5%. Can't find the link but I remember that after Lance Armstrong was stripped of a Tour de France win, if you went down the winner rankings until you found someone never involved in a PEDs scandal, you would have had to go to like 13th place. Everyone from first to twelfth was associated in some way with a PED story. Crazy. So if you want a truly level field, everyone has to be allowed to use. Hell of a lot easier to enforce healthy use of PEDs than trying to ban them outright. It's like drinking and prohibition. In the world of 552...I think Lex is using.

You just reminded me of something. I watch a lot of wrestling and back pre-Eddie Guerrero's death & the Chris Benoit situation, guys in the locker room were using like crazy. Not only were they getting big as fuck, but one of the key benefits was these guys could take legit, unscripted injuries (barring nervous or spinal problems) and come back in a short amount of time.
