Grade:
Junior
Height:
4 feet 11 inches/149.9 cm
Weight:
98 lbs/44.5 kg
Eye Color:
Red
Hair Color:
White
Appearance:
Personality:
Distant. Aloof. Enigma. Uncaring. Silent. Lumiere is called many things by those who have the misfortune to know her. Once upon a time, she was the happiest girl with a heart of gold, but her near death and the events that followed forever changed her. Anyone who has seen Lumiere believe her to not even notice what's around her, as she rarely seems to acknowledge things and looks as though she is never listening. But in reality, Lumiere is always listening, always watching, always calculating. She wastes no words, and prefers to get things done as quickly as possible.
The type to sit back in the shadows and pull strings when she can, Lumiere is rarely openly confrontational, preferring to let others get their hands dirty. She is willing to make sacrifices, albeit the lives of others, to see her goals come to fruition. Beneath her soft exterior lies a malice like no other, and a constant desire to channel that rage into the pain of others. Those she seeks to do pain unto are those she envies. And she is willing to wait as long as it takes to strike at her next target.
Lumiere holds no true friends, seeing everyone else as merely puppets. She believes people can turn on you at any time, so she takes the initiative in doing so when the time comes.
Fighting Style:
Physically frail due to her past trauma, Lumiere's weakness lies in close quarters combat. It is to this end that she attempts to avoid direct confrontation and get others to fight for her, or avoiding being in situations where a fight is necessary to begin with. Having studied the body's pressure points and weaknesses, she aims her strikes in those areas to make the most of her lower physical capabilities. She tries to maintain as much distance from her opponent as possible while fighting them until she can calculate a way to take them down. If it comes to it, she will utilize a more destructive version of her family's blood Qi (when unlocked), suddenly becoming far more powerful than she initially seemed. It is a violent, erratic power, and one that she is not able to fully control.
Strengths:
Lumiere's strength lies in her intelligence and her unpredictability. Her soft, doll like exterior catches many off guard, and for some it can be fatal. She doesn't mess around in a fight, and does her best to leave no openings for anyone to capitalize upon. If needed, she is generally adept at talking herself out of situations, if only to create an opening of her own should anyone fall for it. She is also decent on her feet if she needs to keep distance from her enemy, close some distance, or make a getaway.
Weaknesses:
Lumiere is unable to do physical damage without focusing on enemy critical points (or if their CON is pathetically low like her own). She is also unable to take much of a beating herself. With her intelligence and command of her power (when unlocked), there comes a sort of brash arrogance as well, as her condescending nature can make her many enemies as well as cause her to be more open to attack than she realizes. As she sees everyone as inferior, she doesn't think much of their capabilities, sometimes until it's too late.
History:
Umbra was the final child of three born to the Lucani parents, following Nero and Bianca respectively. The three of them only ever had each other, despite their parents being around most of their lives. Their parents hated them, and constantly berated them and kept them sheltered. All three children were born with white hair and red eyes, and their parents were ashamed of their kids because of their unnatural hair and eye colors. They truly believed that their children were demons incarnate. They all grew up together in their seclusion, and came to rely on one another. The kids would play pretend of living in a better life, and all adopted names. Nero became "Kaiser", the king. Bianca was "Reine", the queen. And for Umbra, the two of them affectionately called her "Lumiere", for she was their light in the dark world they lived in.
The years passed and things didn't change. One day, Lumiere was caught reading a book by her parents, and they took her out back and began to beat her. Kaiser and Reine tried to help her, but they were soon beat too. From this point on, cruel words became torture instead. The children were seen as defiant, and were chained down in the basement. The parents often came downstairs to "discipline" them, beating them and cutting them and watching them bleed, spouting cruel words and calling them "scum" or "worthless", saying they were better off dead. Kaiser would watch the blood leak from his body, staring at it with an empty gaze before staring up at his parents with those red eyes. The parents clubbed him repeatedly while Reine and Lumiere screamed and cried until they were all beaten unconscious.
One day, their parents went too far while abusing them, and began to stab them in the stomachs. They heated their blades in a furnace before stabbing them, calling them demons who needed to be cleansed. Kaiser and Reine writhed and screamed, and when they got to Lumiere, she began to beg. "Mommy... Daddy..." They stared at her with those cold eyes before stabbing her too. She screamed in agony and it seemed like it lasted for hours before the parents finally left. As they left and shut the door behind them, Kaiser and Reine looked over to Lumiere, and in their desperation, broke free from the chains and crawled over to her despite their injuries. They held Lumiere in their arms, crying and sobbing as she spoke weakly to them. They kept trying to tell her that she'd be okay.
"Nero... Bianca... oh god, it hurts..." She choked out as they applied pressure to her wound, "Please... please help me... I... don't want to..."
She went quiet, and her eyes stared blankly at them. She died in their arms, and Reine began to cry loudly. "Our Lumiere... she's gone..."
...
A hand burst through disturbed soil, and Umbra pulled herself from the depths of the earth, clawing and gasping for air. Dragging herself onto the wet ground as the rain fell down on her, she looked around frantically, unable to properly breathe. Her body was convulsing rapidly, having suffered temporarily dying and coming back to life. She didn't understand it then, but her blood Qi saved her. Her body, unused to the trauma, was shaking violently and she was crawling on the ground, coughing up blood and puking, wanting to scream but nothing would come out of her throat. All she knew was it hurt, it hurt so bad.
Examining her home, she found that it was empty, and the bodies of her parents were in the basement. Nero and Bianca were nowhere to be found, but she found blood throughout various places of the house. Did they do this? Did they stick her in the ground like that?
Confused and scared, Umbra left into the outside world for the first time, wanting to find the two of them. As fate would have it, she would end up a victim of Riot's trafficking circles, imprisoned and kept in a cage while she was treated as anything less than human. It was something she was used to, maybe this is how life really was. Sitting in a cage, she would hear stories of Riot's fourth leader, Kaiser. Eavesdropping enough told her that it was her brother, and she desperately wanted to see him, she wanted to see him once more and she wanted him to free her from that place. But the two never came in contact, and word got around that Nero had died fighting the students of #552.
Despaired, Umbra had no idea what to believe anymore. She lost all will to go on, and found herself being sold and moved to San Francisco. It was there that she finally snapped. No one knows what happened, if her captors pushed her the wrong way, or if she finally found a way to take her life into her own hands. All that's known for sure is the Riot sect that took her ended up dead, their bodies found torn apart and butchered brutally.
Time would pass, and Umbra would live on the streets of San Francisco on her own, getting by day to day just barely. While sitting under a tree in a park, it was here that she saw her first victims. An older brother and sister, having fun with their dog. Umbra saw them, and envy swelled up within her, threatening to burst. She found herself unable to keep her eyes off of them, and before she knew it, she followed them home. It was in the dead of night when she made her way into their home... it was the color of envy. Their bodies were found later, and no one was quite sure how they had died, their bodies just as mangled and broken as the Riot members. The looks of horror on their face was forever painted in Umbra's memory. It made her feel better, to take away from people what she couldn't have.
She soon garnered a reputation in the criminal underworld as an assassin with unusual methods of taking out her targets. But her services weren't exactly easy to come by, as she had very particular targets in mind... those she envied. But through her ever growing mind and hit list, she began to make a living for herself, and it became easier to get by. She became known as Lumiere, the Leviathan.
When #552 was opened up in San Francisco, her attention was immediately turned towards it. It was a simple matter of committing a few felonies to get landed in there, and she now had a new goal of finding her those who wronged her family. All the while, she'd be finding new targets, scheming new plots...
Other: I plan to immediately unlock her Qi after approval so that her history and such can work out, it would take place in the past.
