I walked around the corner to head back to the school grounds. Tomorrow school would start so i needed to hurry up and gather the things I needed and get back to the barracks to sleep. It was odd to have such a small room. Most of the students would be pleasantly surprised to be graced with such amenities, however, I was used to much more. I would have compared my current living situation to that of a poor man's. I had little complaints as I was currently safe and had less to worry about than before. Thankfully, I wouldn't have to deal with them long seeing as I knew who had been attempting to kill me.
My thoughts ripped me back to the last time I had seen my uncle. It was at the funeral right before the car I was supposed to take exploded. His face was grave as he looked at me in the other car. His face had betrayed his anger as he watched my car fly past. I had thought it was fear for my safety. I was wrong. It had really been that he was upset I had survived. I had made it past the bomb and I had lived when I was supposed to have died in the 'accident.' I had survived to carry on the legacy of my parents before me.
I shook my head and continued the walk back. I wasn't really used to carrying things, so they were a bit heavy. Nothing I couldn't handle, but still, more than I was used to. I paused at the next corner and set down the bags I had with me. FInding a bench near by, I hefted the bags to it and sat down. I'd probably stay here for a good five minutes. That way I ccould catch my breath and make it the rest of the way back with out stopping again.
