It was only a few minutes before the final bell rang that Rhett walked silently through the hallway. There were a few ruffians and ditchers screwing about as he made his way around the school. A couple of them checked him out for a moment, but since he wasn't anyone of importance they just let him continue about his business. Reaching a set of lockers, Rhett would slip a piece of paper into a specific locker, pausing as he makes a second mental note of the number before letting it slide in. It wasn't very hard to get the locker number of the young man he only knew as "Knuckles", with how many people he had taken down recently. Word spreads, and Rhett listens. For the past couple of days, he had been gathering intel on any major threats he may face in the future. Knuckles topped everything else he had heard, aside from mention of the Pillars, and so it only made since to make an assessment of him. With his reason for being in the school finished, Rhett made his way to the exit, pushing the doors open just as the bell started to signal the end of the school day. There were specific instructions for Knuckles to meet him around the back of the old building, and to come alone. Aside from that, no other information was given. If he was even close to how Rhett pictured him, he would come without question. A light breeze blew the combined smell of angst and nature into Rhett's nostrils as he slowly popped a squat on the grass near the back wall of the school. Pulling a cigarette from his jacket pocket, he'd light it before taking a long drag and holding it in. The thought of a fight seemed foreign to Rhett at this point. Not that he forgot how to, he just was the planner for the most part. Initiating something so quickly just wasn't his style. Letting out his breath of smoke in a deep sign, he'd scratch at his hat with his cigarette hand. This school was different. He could tell just from his short time walking its halls. It had an air to it. Either that, or his last incident really did some damage to his brain. Right now, all that mattered was waiting for his target.

Knuckles had swung by his locker on a whim, deciding to drop off a few things into his locker. Entering the combo, he would pull it open and then take some money and contraband out of his Carhartt jacket. Those hazel hues would notice the piece of paper folded within. He knew it hadn't been his. Reaching for it, the young outlaw would take it, open it and read.
The anonymous note was enough to catch his attention. He knew he could be walking into a trap of some kind, but he was curious anyways. Slamming his locker closed and the spinning the dial, Austin would begin to head toward the location mentioned. The final bell would ring as the repeat freshman made it to the courtyard.
Austin's hands would lift to slide over the hair on his head, slicking it back before his right hand dipped into his pocket to retrieve a cigarette. Lifting it to his lips, he would light it as he maneuvered around the old building. Those sharp hazel hues would search out the area thoroughly, but one only see one person crouched near by enjoying a cigarette himself.
"What's this about? Who the hell are you?"
Two simple, straight forward questions. He didn't recognize this kid and to be honest he had more enemies than allies. So he was always naturally cautious. He wasn't too worried though. He had been in some pretty rough situations before. His left leg was finally beginning to return to normal, albeit sore still.
His hands remained loose by his sides as he stood waiting, his right hand lifting occasionally to take a drag from his butt here and there. Stoically, the leader of the Apex Warriors would stare toward the other male expressionless and waiting.

Rhett was well aware of Knuckles' presence, as he watched him come around the the school from the corner of his eye. He had the look that Rhett had expected - like he was pulled right out of The Outsiders - and based on his rushed and aggressive questioning, Rhett was starting to fill in the blanks where need be. No one could be summed up so quickly, though, and Rhett knew there was more work ahead of him.
With a nod of the head, and a tip of his hat, Rhett would acknowledge that he heard Knuckles' questions before pointing back and forth between each of their cigarettes. He was just finishing a drag of his own cigarette during all this, and would exhale the cloud of smoke slowly through his nostrils before truly responding to Knuckles.
"Honestly?... You arrived a little quicker than I thought you would, so..." Taking another long drag, he'd flick the hanging ash from his cig and lean back comfortably against the wall behind him. "... You mind if we finish before we get to business?" Smoke billowed from his lips as he asked the question. He treated this like the start of a pop quiz (mentally, of course). He wanted to learn a bit more before he went fist-to-fist with the guy known as "Knuckles".

"Not every day I get a love note in my locker."
Knuckles would shift his weight onto his right leg and continue to smoke his cigarette as a sign of agreeing to the kid's request. Austin had never seen him before in his life. And he wasn't exactly sure what this was about. But he would be patient, at least for now. However he was a busy young man, he wasn't going to simply around chatting with someone he didn't know for too long, unless there was reason to do so.
"What do you want, kid? I ain't got all day.."
Again, simple and straight to the point. There was a lot of things weighing on his mind recently. Normally he would have had a cocky smirk on his face and his words would be laced with sarcasm. But not so much today. Today his tone seemed rather impatient, coming a little close to crossing the line into aggression.

"Okay, so here's the thing..." At this point, his cigarette was hanging out the left corner of his lips, just enough for him to still tighten his lips and take a drag. His hands were tucked between his hat and the wall, as he kicked back and looked seemed to glare at Knuckles. Was he? Maybe, but that was just kind of how his face rested.
"I've been led to believe that you're a brute. Not without wit, obviously, but a brute none-the-less." The moment all of the smoke had left his lunges, he took another quick drag and released in into the air with the other, but this time in a ring. "I don't necessarily believe this, I'm just telling you what I've heard. If anything, you've got some assholes for classmates."
The cigarette in his mouth was about half way down, and he could already feel his blood pumping that amazing nicotine through his body. The whole time he was talking, he'd be gauging every little reaction of Knuckles. There was only so much time for words with him, at least now, and Rhett had already set the timer.
"I guess I'm here to get a first hand look at the man named after his favorite body part? Or am I wrong?" No laughs or anything, just a slightly raised brow. "I like to get to know possible threats before they turn into one. Can't blame a guy for planning ahead." Finishing with a shrug, he'd move his right hand to flick the excess ash from his cigarette before bringing it right back. If Knuckles wanted a sucker punch, it was there. That was the point.

Austin would be pay close attention to the one in front of him. He didn't seem nervous, so if he had heard of Austin then he was really brave, or really stupid. Regardless, it seemed he wanted to see who he was in other ways that didn't require words. For the briefest of moments a smirk would slip on his face. But it faded quickly. He would take last long puff of his cigarette before he held it in and blew it out his own nose.
"I'll tell you what.. You wanna see why they call me Knuckles, I'll show you. I kinda like you kid, you have balls.. So I'll try not to smash your teeth out."
As far as Austin was concerned, he was done smoking his cigarette. He would gather saliva on his tongue and then open his mouth, putting the cherry of his cigarette out on his tongue before flicking it off the the side. Impressions were important. Austin would then begin to move toward the kid before him.
A sliding step on his left, Austin would shoot a left straight toward Rhett's face. Simple yet effective if it were to land. However his right arm was curled lower near his abdomen in preparation to strike if he got the opportunity. Knuckles was going to be a handle full. Probably more than the kid had expected.

"You know basic human anatomy. One point for you, Brass." A play on his current nickname, hinting at the fact that he was fairly dull at this point. Not that he figured his smoking buddy would pick up on the true depth of the nickname, but you get the point.
With Knuckles' show of utter masculinity by putting a his cigarette out on his tounge, Rhett would simply nod in acknowledgement. The cigarette was out, and so the parley was no longer in affect. No more banter. It was time to start talking the only way some men know how. Rhett learned this early, and knew that a few bruises here and there were worth the possibility of impressing a threat. If he was able to spill some of Knuckles' blood in the process, well, that's just a bonus.
Knuckles made his intent very clear with the few imposing steps he took toward his much more relaxed opponent, right before he sent a left punch directly at Rhett's face. Luckily for Rhett, he had situated himself perfectly for such a basic attack. With the sliding momentum Knuckles had built up, it would be very difficult for him to stop his first attack. Rhett loved this little bit of information.
With his hands positioned behind his head, Rhett would bring them down to his shoulders quickly, and push himself a little ways across the slick surface beneath him. His legs would have raised to make the movement easier, and he'd tuck forward and to the right after he finished sliding. He'd roll once to get distance before quickly pushing himself back to his feet.
Surprisingly, his cigarette was still in his mouth, though the flame had fallen off during his roll. Taking a page from Knuckles, he'd tongue the cigarette into his mouth, chew it, and swallow. He'd allow himself to make a sour face before readjusting his hat. "I'm so glad we're on the same page, but did you really have to make me waste a stick?" Rhett would then bring his left foot back a bit and tap the toe of his boot against the ground, waiting for Knuckles to continue.

Knuckles head would follow Rhett as he dodged and rolled out of the way. Austin would have already begun to work at correcting himself, pulling his left arm back as he slide to a halt and pivoted on that left leg to swing his right side around counter-clockwise before kicking off for Rhett as he would be finishing his roll and regaining his stance.
If he was one thing, he was relentless. Knuckles liked to keep the heat on his opponents, it forced them into making rash decisions. As confident as Austin was, he wasn't completely underestimating his opponent. But he was going to show his dominance. He was going to run straight into him, left shoulder leading the charge.
For a larger male, Austin was still relatively fast. But he was a whole lot stronger. If his shoulder connected, Knuckles right arm would already be curled and ready. His body upper-body would twist and his right arm would lift from a lower angle as he looked to uppercut Rhett hard enough to lift him off his feet if it landed.
Austin's left would shift forward to try and grasp him mid-air by his shirt if everything had unfolded correctly. At which point he would hold him extended away from his body, those hazel hues glaring while that infamous smirk slipped on his face again.

Knuckles' correction could be heard, and partly seen, as Rhett rolled away from the bruiser. The lack of a smack from the guys knuckles hitting the wall was disappointing, with Rhett visibly frowning for a second as he rolled, but no problem. This only helped to cement his theory that his opponent was indeed someone with a natural talent for brawling.
As Rhett rolled to his feet, he would be sitting in a crouched position as Knuckles bull rushed his way toward him. With only a moment or so to react to the guys quick counter, Rhett used his lowered placement to spring himself into the air, curling his left knee up as he attempted to send it deep into Knuckles' face.
With the speed his opponent was moving, the likelihood of Rhett connecting was pretty high. If he dodged, it would probably be in a way that left Rhett free to sail straight over him. If it hit, Rhett would use the momentum of his jump to topple over Knuckles, falling to the ground behind him. He would also try to grab at his opponents pants on the way down. If he had baggy pants, it was a sound strategy.

This was not the first time Austin had tried this attack, nor was it the first time someone tried to knee him while doing it. His defense against it would be simple. His left arm folded up to be used as a guard. It would take away from some of the power, but the kid had also left the ground.
So Austin's left side would still make contact would Rhett's knee, arm guarding his head from the damage. Austin's body connecting with Rhett's would likely force the kid's upper-body forward, feet over head.
"Here it comes!"
Austin's forward left leg would be used to pivot on as his right leg swung backwards clock-wise. His left arm which had been used to guard, would thrust forward as Austin would aim to connect with his stomach while he was still in mid-air.
It would be a fluent movement and the probability of landing was high do to the fact that his opponent would have been suspended in the air. If it connected, there would be enough force to send him tumbling if he didn't manage to save himself before hitting the ground. Knuckles would smirk as it all unfolded, pushing forward toward Rhett once again.

Brass was nice enough to give Rhett a warning right after Rhett's knee had connected with the guy's arm. It was a good block, but he wasn't expecting anything less. Still, a knee to the forearm, especially with the force it had, couldn't have felt nice.
As he flipped over Knuckles, his strategy would change the moment he heard the warning. Now upside down, he'd see his opponent pivoting around to counter once again. Face, body, groin? Rhett waited until he saw the left punch coming his way. With little time to react, he would suck in and tense his gut as he forced his ass and legs backward for more moment.
The result would be Knuckles connecting with the punch, but just barely because the momentum and direction of his fist were close to how fast Rhett had forced himself to fall. To his opponent, it would probably he chalked to a miss, since there was little damage because of it, but he did indeed make contact.
Rhett knew that the last attack was a close one, so as he landed he'd use his forward momentum to hoist himself to his feet by quickly bring his upper body up the moment his back hit the ground. He'd slide slightly in the snow, as he turned to have his left shoulder facing his opponent.
"Thanks for the friendly warning." He'd say as he rubbed his stomach gently. Brass had been the aggressor in this situation, so Rhett figured he'd let the guy continue to show him what he had. As far as he was concerned, this wasn't a fight, but a friendly introduction, and first impressions matter.

"Wouldn't wanna break you before I even break a sweat!"
Austin had spoken on the move. Rhett here had barely managed to escape the blow unscathed and was quick to land and recover. He seemed like he knew what he was doing. But it wasn't going to be enough to save him. Austin would catch him clean and it was only a matter of time. By the time Rhett had made it to his feet and turned his left shoulder to face Knuckles, the outlaw would already be in his face.
A swift jab would be shot toward Rhett's face. But Knuckles wouldn't commit. Instead he would choose to feint. His left arm would retract before it could be taken advantage of. As his left arm pulled back, his hips would twist and his right leg would snap a leg kick toward the back of Rhett's thighs, just above the knee. If he jumped it could still catch his ankles.
If the feint and following kick were successful, there would be enough force behind the kick to knock Rhett's body horizontal in the air. In which Austin would pull his right leg back and twist his torso right and look to drop an overhead left down into his midsection and drive him into the snow covered ground.

Rhett would no doubt hear the incoming steps that would lead up to Knuckles' left punch. By this point, when he was able to see where his opponent was, he was in the process of taking a possible hit. Being naturally dodgy, Rhett would leap back, but only slightly, in order to try and dodge the punch that he believed to be coming his way. The fact that it was a feint played to his advantage, in a way, as he had already started an attack to counter the left.
During his leaping dodge, he'd torque his upper body to the left as he brought his right leg around to send a kick at the side of Knuckles' neck. The fact that his first attack was a feint left time for Rhett to get the attack off, and hitting was almost certain after he realized that Knuckles was kicking with his right leg as well. The result would more than likely be each of them taking a hit of varying magnitude.
The kick that Brass had sent at him would connect right beneath the outside of his left leg, causing him to flip sideways in the air. While this was happening, his opponent would no doubt be dealing with a kick to either the neck or face, so he'd be able to land on his right side and push himself up, taking a couple dodgy jumps away from Knuckles. The second one made him wince a bit, though the kick hadn't done too much damage because it wasn't planted. It did, however, give him a good idea of the strength his opponent possessed, and it outclassed Rhett by quite a bit.

Austin's left hand would have already been retracting to to defensive measures when he threw the kick. So it would leave his hand only inches from his opponent's intended target. Austin's leg that kicks would be dropped to the ground instead of rotating back into it's previous location.
This meant his body shifted more toward the kick as his left hand would await his opponent's foot to come in. His palm would slap against the top of his foot and his fingers would attempt to snap like a bear trap. His right hand would look to lift and cup the side of his knee as gravity took hold of Rhett's body.
So long as everything went well, he would pivot on his left leg, looking to swing the kid counter-clockwise, 180° to slam him into the ground. At which point he would hope to still have hold of his ankle. Austin was a brute and his fighting style showed it. He was all around physically gifted. And his size was often misleading, because he had a quickness to him most didn't expect.

Rhett's kick had gone in the exact direction that it had intended, but his opponent's feint had given him enough time to not only block it, but work it against him. The moment Brass' hand clenched his foot, Rhett immediately thought of any way he could get one good attack in on his opponent.
Knuckles' one mistake was that he didn't take the kicks momentum and use it against his opponent, instead stopping the kick and then spinning the opposite way. This maneuver meant that Rhett's left leg hand enough time to tuck in as he let the brute go through with his attack. As soon as he had the opening, he'd thrust his free leg straight into Knuckles' face. The guy was strong, but if Rhett wasn't able to at least do some damage what was the point?
Even still, Rhett would find himself slammed into the packed snow beneath them, coming down awkwardly on his shoulder and creating an audible popping sound. "Fuck!..." Was all he'd allow himself as he knew right away that his right shoulder had been forced out of its socket. The pain was intense, but he enjoyed a good part of it. It'd been awhile since he'd felt so outclassed in a fight.
He wouldn't put up a fight at this point, instead positioning himself best he could to protect his shoulder from getting any more messed up than it already was. There was no telling what Knuckles would do, but as his free leg was curled up like the rest of his body, he'd be willing to repeatedly kick his opponent if need be. Surrender in his position was not an option. Only end the fight when you're on your own two feet, no matter the state you're in. Words he lived by.
