somethings just fade away With the faction budget running low since the transfer to San Francisco, Vivi had been taking up odd jobs. Some of which could be considered a little shady. Of course, with all the work came douche bag clients, bosses, and partners. Earlier that day when she had been talking to the particular guy she’d been doing a job for that week, she brought up how a group of his other workers had tried to jump her. “Suck it up”, he said. ... It really gave her the urge to break his damn legs and tell him to "Walk it off." So with her afternoon mostly free that weekend, she decided to go for a walk and let off some steam. Valo had concerns of his own, so Saturday was a good day for her to go out and give him some room to think. With Golden Gate Park being an attraction she knew of in San Fransisco, she thought maybe it’d be a good place for a walk. Of course, she’d been to Central Park too, and knew it could get a little crazy if you strayed to the wrong places. Chances were it was the same here. She just hoped by now she was strong enough to ward off most of the weirdos she came across. Lo and behold, while Vivi was walking someone tried to jump her for the umpteenth time that month! The guy grabbed her shoulders and she scowled, kneeing him hard in the crotch. He doubled over and whacked her across the face in his anger, but she didn’t feel it much. Instead, she took advantage of the fact that he was bent over and slammed her fist into the side of his head, then aimed another punch at his jaw. Vivi moved fast, so the hits were practically a blur--and they packed a good force. Fortunately for her, it was enough to knock him out. The dude collapsed onto the path and Vivi kind of stood there like an idiot for a moment. What? He totally asked for it…. but she needed to hide him before someone saw her and thought she was killing people. The dude hit his face on the ground and blood spilled from his nose and mouth, so it looked pretty bad. Vivi slipped her arms under his arm pits and began dragging the man toward a clump off bushes a little ways off the path. Yeah, that should do it. She wasn’t about to be accused of assaulting people, not today. This legit was just self defense! ( `Alvari - Antonio Neto )

It was a beautiful day. From Anthony's point of view, nothing could go wrong. Of course, he wasn't good at guessing things, so it was nearly obvious that destiny had something in store for him. Kevin offered to give him a tour around San Francisco, and he happily accepted it. After visiting some places near the school, they decided to stop by Golden Gate Park to rest before resuming the journey. Although he never really liked going out with people, Anthony knew that learning more about the city would pay off.
'You gonna love the city, it's got everything! Maybe you'll even meet a nice girl!', Anthony chuckled, remembering Kevin's words, though he did seem to have some girl issues. Not that the black haired boy cared, though. He would try to embarrass his friend as soon as a girl enters his line of sight. Yes, that was the plan. He would be the cool, laid back, metrosexual guy that gets all the ladies, while his friend would be the shy, nerdy guy who stays near him so he can learn how to get all the ladies. Anthony licked his lips, anxious with the idea. Nothing would stop him, nothing would stand in his way, nothing woul- "LOOK, KEVIN! A RAMEN CART! I DIDN'T KNEW THEY HAD THESE HERE!" The freshman suddenly shouted, spotting a small, shady cart at the corner of the park.

Anthony COULD meet a nice girl, if he was into that sort of thing at his age.
Kevin secretly thanked the geniuses that pushed for 552 to move to San Francisco. Coming from New York, no other place would have really compared. Anthony was subjected to this, as the young man allowed Kevin to play tourist for the day. They had started at the famous Embarcadero along San Francisco's waterfront, then took the bus downtown for them to get lost in all the hustle and bustle. He had half a mind to take Anthony to the Castro district before nixing that idea...for now. Instead, the dynamic duo caught public transportation again to make their way to a more relaxed location.
Golden Gate Park was massive, acres of towering trees and shady trails sitting defiant in between both sides of a residential district that locals referred to as 'The Avenues.' It was the perfect place to get lost in nature without having to leave city limits, even if one were simply driving through. There were a number of attractions within that added to the splendor of the park...however, it was accurate to believe that under the trees it wasn't all grassy relaxation. Vivi experienced such firsthand.
Kevin and Anthony were strolling down a trail as Vivi had just finished fighting for her life. The big guy worked up an appetite, so when his foreign companion caught sight of a ramen cart, Kevin almost broke his neck to look in that direction. "Oh shit, you right! Yeah, it's hella street vendors here...wait 'til I show ya a few taco trucks---" What he caught a glimpse of in the distance got his attention. Down the way, just off the paved path were two figures...one was dragging the other through the grass into the bushes. Kevin's stomach turned as he almost instantly had flashbacks to his brawl in the alley not that long ago, where some innocent woman got stabbed and assaulted. "Wait, wait, yo! Anthony!" Without looking, Kevin took the back of his right hand and tapped Anthony's torso to get his attention.
"Yo, it can wait! Somebody's in trouble!"

somethings just fade away As she dragged the body off the path, Vivi suddenly stumbled. The laces of one of her boots had apparently come untied and she found herself momentarily struggling to regain her balance. Man, this was a pain in the ass. Served this guy right though, attacking some girl in the park. What a piece of trash—it was people like these that made it so kids couldn’t just go out and enjoy their cities, neighborhoods, nearby forests or whatever place they wanted to go mill around in. Seconds after she straightened up and moved her loose shoe lace aside, she heard the voices of two young men a little ways away. Her pulse sped up slightly at the prospect of being seen like this. Just her luck. There was hardly anyone around a moment ago but OF COURSE now that she was hiding a FREAKING BODY people came around. Fortunately, the two men seemed to be caught up talking about food. Cool, looked like she was okay for now— Just as she was settling the body down to hide in the shrubbery, she realized one of them had seen her. "Yo, it can wait! Somebody's in trouble!”Shit. Why her? Vivi let go of the man and he fell limp, the bush closing around his form and concealing him for the most part. The only thing that was still visible was his feet clad in white Vanz… she shoved them into the shrubbery and glanced up at the two men once more. Yeah, she needed to get out of there. Vivi darted behind a cluster of nearby trees, and after taking a moment to calm her nerves, she quickly clambered up into it’s branches and tried to make herself small as possible. Of course, hiding at this point was pretty useless. They’d seen which way she went. ( `Alvari - Antonio Neto )

Damnit, trouble had a way of finding Anthony, no matter the city, no matter the country, no matter the continent. He and Kevin both ran as his friend said there was someone in trouble, 'Could it get worse?', the freshman asked himself in his thought. He wasn't one to deny helping people, but having to choose between a random stranger and food wasn't that hard for him. He would choose food, just for the record. They soon reached the supposed crime scene, and they found... Absolutely nothing. The older yet smaller boy wasn't pleased with those results. "*pant* Kevin, my *pant* dear friend." Anthony started, panting. "Did you just make me run two hundred and five meters for no reason at all?" He asked, using the metric system. "Not cool, man. Not cool." The boy turned around, going to look for the ramen cart, until he felt it. 'Wha-What is this?' Something shouted deep in his mind.
Fear, Anthony did NOT liked that feeling, especially when it was caused by the knowledge that there was something nearby he should not mess with. An overwhelming and powerful presence, he felt them a few times since he arrived, more specifically, at school. He was like a frog being stared by a snake, even if the snake in question was a friendly one. To think that such monsters could exist, it was near impossible for him to believe. Shaking, he walked towards the core of that power, a innocent looking tree near Kevin. Trying to maintain his composure, he spoke. "You cannot hide, so get down here. Otherwise, we'll have to use force." His voice was full of pride and confidence, but there was nothing that could add to his argument. He knew whoever was there could kill him, even the generic-ness of his speech made it obvious that, even together, he didn't think they would stand a chance. Turning to Kevin, the boy whispered. "Psst, Kevin, when I count to three we run to the hills, okay?" Why, yes, it could get worse.

Of course it can always get worse! Considering Anthony was the brighter of the two boys and he was following Kevin, there was already a strong chance that shit could hit the fan in terrific fashion. Then again, isn't that how it always goes? There's two friends- one is cool, calm and level-headed, capable of thinking things through and reaching a diplomatic solution. The other is a hothead that takes action before all angles are considered, and usually is the person driving the situation if left unchecked...with a decent probability that they're going the wrong way.
So the two set off on an adventure that spanned almost two soccer fields (Jesus, Anthony), the dynamic duo sprinting to the scene to find...nothing. "Fuck!" Kevin's line of sight darted back and forth, sweeping the landscape. They couldn't have gotten far, or at least he hoped they didn't. "Where the fuck did---huh?" He almost, ALMOST missed it. A small speck of something off-white in the bushes. He would have normally been oblivious to such a thing, but not when he and Anthony were performing pseudo-detective work. Kevin poked his head into the foliage, parting it with both hands to find..."Yooo, how you gonna get murdered in dirty white Vans!?" He didn't have long to contemplate the misfortune of not having on pristine sneakers at one's time of death before Anthony brought Kevin's attention back to more serious affairs.
According to Anthony, the culprit wasn't running away from them...they simply went above. Kevin turned around, stared at the tree he was hanging around under and found himself unnerved at the idea that whoever did this could have jumped them before they could do so much as scratch their asses. Kevin's gut was rife with nerves...but when his foreign friend whispered in his ear, it simply steeled his resolve. "You can run if ya wanna," Kevin responded as he took another look up the tree. Anthony could clearly see Kevin staring at a lower branch, one that was within reach if they jumped high enough. "But I ain't lettin' nobody just do this kinda shit on my watch! Some chick got stabbed in a alley last week! I ain't havin' it!" And with that, Kevin took a few paces back, got a running start and burst off the ground. Long arms and digits raised high to try and latch onto the branch. His hands found a hold on both sides before he planted his feet into the base of the tree and began to climb. "A'ight, last chance to get out on ya own! It's a long way down if I come up there!"

somethings just fade away Vivi sat on one of the tree branches, legs pulled in and palms bracing against the trunk. The clusters of leaves covered her for the most part, but she wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to spot her if the looked hard enough. Furrowing her brow, she glanced down to the ground below when the two of them started yelling up the tree. Sounded like threats… if that was the case, she might have to prepare for a fight. Vivi's fingers brushed against her weapon, Magnhild, collapsed and hooked to her belt. She grit her teeth when she realized one of the dudes was climbing. Great. They obviously wouldn’t be after her unless they thought she was a killer or something, so she was already off to a bad start. Running away like she was guilty might not have been the best tactic in retrospect, but it was too late now. She’d already done it. “If you come up here, you’ll be the taking the quick way down!” she called back. Assuming he was still in the tree even after that little comment, Vivi would sigh and move to perch on the branch. So this was how they wanted it? Fine. Her small form would fall a few feet before she grabbed onto another branch and swung herself to perch on another place in the tree. She was still above the young man, but now she was coming closer. Eventually she’d drop to land on the same branch he held onto, perching on it near the base of the tree. A gauntlet-like mechanism would click on her arm, and a blood red blade erupted from it. In one swift movement, Vivi would slash at the branch to cut it free and hopefully send the guy plummeting back down below. Blood King's Gauntlet: The mechanism on the glove activates a blood blade that can be used for 1 post per 15 INT. The strength of the blade is determined by INT. One of Kaiser's strange gloves he was wearing when he assaulted AURA. It has been modified to be less damaging to the user. Damage: 82 Use 1/5 ( `Alvari - Antonio Neto )

Anthony was already expecting to be completely owned by whoever was up in the tree. He just wasn't expecting to get owned so bad. The freshman backed away when he saw nothing less than a girl landing gracefully on the grass, while his friend fell headfirst into the dirt. If the blade extending from her arm was anything to go by, fighting wasn't the best option at the moment. 'One word. I just need one word to escape from this situation.' The black haired boy thought, beads of sweat running down his face. As if all that's considered holy in the world joined for a feast, Anthony had an idea. He looked to the man in the bushes, gathered all the little bits of courage he still had in his body, and prepared himself for a speech. "Look at your victim. Now back to me. Now look at my friend. Now back to me. I'm not your friend, thought you're kinda pretty. You've killed the man with the dirty white Vans. He was hit by a smooth criminal. Now I'll ask you a question... A MATH QUESTION!"
The words came out of Anthony's mouth like water from the Niagara Falls. Fast and crazy. He wasn't even totally sure of what he had just said, but there's was no going back now. "Think of a number. Add four to it. Subtract six from it. Divide it by two. And, finally, subtract the number you've thought from it. Now, tell me the result." The black haired boy demanded, taking a purple rose from inside his clothes and extending it to the girl. "Your next line will be... One!" Regaining his composure, the boy glared at the girl, waiting for her to react.

Vivi Perish,Antonio Neto,
Vivi and Kevin, sitting in a tree! F-I-G-H-T-I---ahh, forget it.
Vivi's threat hit Kevin's ears the second he raised himself up to a vertical base upon the branch. It wasn't what she said, but the fact that a woman was saying it that disturbed Kevin. He became deathly still in those few short seconds as he sat, one hand on the trunk, the other on the branch with both legs hanging off each side as he sat there. Kevin heard rustling in the leaves, but he couldn't see anything. Shit...is there really a girl up in here!? That question was soon answered as Vivi suddenly appeared.
Kevin screamed bloody murder before a move was ever made.
The revelation that Kevin had made himself so physically close to someone of the opposite gender frightened him more than the wicked blade protruding from her glove. The fact that she swooped in on him like some predatory bird didn't help, either. Kevin could only watch as Vivi sliced the tree like she was about to stack up logs for winter. There was a brief moment where the boy stared right into the eyes of his attacker, horror vividly painted across his hazel irises before gravity set in and he took a much unwarranted way down to ground level, his head bouncing off of the grass and his body falling across the downed branch. Ouch.

somethings just fade away Vivi watched as the young man plummeted back to the ground. The red blade sunk back into her gauntlet, and she sat back on the branch. Her scrutinizing gaze soon flicked to the man with the long dark hair as he spoke to her, and she narrowed her eyes. Did he seriously just accuse her of murder while holding a freaking flower out to her? Then call her pretty and then ask her a math question? “Negative four point five,” she answered immediately, then leaned forward to fix the boy with a glare, “...And I don’t have the time or crayons to explain this to you.” Vivi placed both hands on the what remained of the branch in front of her and swung both legs over the side, dropping down to the ground. She landed almost soundlessly and took a few steps toward them, attempting to look threatening. Problem was, she was a pretty small girl. There was nothing scary about her in and of itself, but she hoped after knocking the dude out of the tree and leaving a bloodied body in the bushes she could at least scare them a little bit. “Giving you five seconds to run away.” From there, Vivi would hold up her hand and put one finger down as each second ticked by—unless she was interrupted of course. Ignore logic, the easiest way to avoid getting confused. The girl wasn't one to be trifled with. Sometimes he wondered if fate took some kind of sick pleasure in torturing him. Seeing his friend on the ground wasn't very reassuring, but he couldn't simply abandon him. Or could he? Sadly, knowing that the seconds quickly passed by blurred his mind. Still shaking, the long haired boy had an idea. "Wait! There's something I want to know!" The best he could do was to stall for time. Should lady luck be on his side, Kevin would get up and the freshman could put his 'count to three, then flee" strategy in action. Raising his rose and pointing it to the girl once again, Anthony started his act.
"I find it hard to believe that someone such as you would commit murder, especially without a reason to do so." The boy and his friend still had no clue about that girl's motives, and it was the first subject that came to his mind. "I would like to know why you did this. Depending on your answer, we may let you live." Anthony said, trying to sound confident in his abilities. Obviously, the fear in his voice didn't help. Lowering his head, he whispered. "Kevin, can we try counting to three and fleeing now?"

A man who looks fear in the face is either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Enter Kevin.
While Anthony was formulating an escape plan, Kevin took his sweet time in picking himself up off the ground. The gears were turning in his head. Sure, anyone in their right mind would have ran, gone to the authorities and gotten this sorted out with proper law enforcement. Or at least in Anthony's case, one could try to talk down such an intense and hostile situation. Not Kevin, who groaned in pain before standing. He heard everything Anthony had to say. It was sound advice, it really was...but somewhere in between wanting to be a hero and not wanting to feel like a coward, he had merely this to say:
"Ain't no why, Anthony. She murked some bastard in the park and I can't let that slide. Go get help if ya need to, but I...I ain't runnin'!" As much as he wanted to. Truth be told, it wasn't even due to the 'corpse' in the bushes or the fact that this chick just chopped that tree branch like she was dicing zucchini. Unfortunately, Kevin couldn:t even hide that he couldn't look Vivi in the face for more than a second at a time. With shaking hands, Kevin balled two tight fists, bent his knees and elbows, stepped back on his left leg and prepared himself for his doom.

somethings just fade away Vivi scowled at the long haired man as he rambled on. Now he was demanding to know the reason for her actions. Part of her wanted to be reasonable and just explain she’d been jumped and knocked the guy the hell out. Another part of her was pretty sure these two were so set on their ways now, they probably wouldn’t believe her. Vivi’s general irritation toward the two of them also didn’t really make her feel compelled to explain herself either. ‘Depending on your answer, we might let you live’, he said. Her eyes narrowed. That was big talk… either he was spouting hot air or these two were actually pretty formidable. Better safe than sorry, of course. It’d be wisest just to proceed with caution. Vivi’s gaze flicked over to the other man when he stated he wouldn’t run. He raised his fists, and while he seemed somewhat apprehensive, it was clear he was ready to fight. Vivi took a deep breath. Normally she always assumed her opponents were total beasts so she wouldn't get caught by surprise, but these two seemed a little skittish. For now she'd test the waters. Vivi’s weapon Maghnild quickly unfolded itself when she jerked it from her belt, snapping into its form as a pretty damn big hammer. “I’m not a fucking murderer!” she yelled, smashing the hammer into the ground in front of her. She didn’t aim to actually hit the two of them, but the impact itself would most likely tear up the ground and send dirt spraying in every which direction. ...Very convincing. Magnhild: Once per 20 Int, Magnhild can be activated by and imbued with the Vivi’s Qi energy. Once activated, the weapon becomes far more dangerous, dealing 1 1/4 of her total Int in damage with each strike. Use: 1/4Damage: 102 Weapon description just in case it's needed: A long handled hammer, about the length of a spear. It has a spear head above the hammer head, making its build comparable to that of a halberd, just without sharp edges. The weapon is collapsible, making it possible to attach to a belt for easy transportation. ( `Alvari - Antonio Neto Sorry I took so long! )

Anthony tremble as the girl took a hammer out of nowhere. And a big hammer at that. He knew Kevin wouldn't run away, he was too dense too care more about his safety than his morals. The freshman sighed, he couldn't abandon his friend like this. "If you really want to fight, then so be it!". The black haired boy shouted, assuming a fight stance. His speed was his only true weapon, if he could count on Kevin's strength, maybe they had a chance. "Kevin, you really want to do this, don't you? Okay then, I'll cover you." Anthony started running towards the girl, hoping the weapon wouldn't hit him. "Let's do this shit!"

Silly Vivi. Warning shots should be used on people with common sense!
It's not like Kevin wasn't visibly shaken, though. He was trembling as much as the ground did when Vivi demonstrated what Maghnild could do. Honestly, he was fucking terrified and most of it wasn't even due to the oversized warhammer raised against him...but he couldn't just turn tail. Sure, he could run. Unfortunately, Anthony didn't consider another part of Kevin's refusal to back down---pride. Not wanting to look chicken or seem weak for not facing a threat. He couldn't bear the thought of feeling like a coward.
So he wouldn't run. Apparently, neither would Anthony.
The latter of which gave Kevin pause. Apparently, his friend was exactly that, and didn't want to abandon him (as wise as it would have been). Kevin knew it, too. As happy as he was that Anthony seemed to have his back, Kevin felt something wrench at him on the inside. He didn't realize in that moment that it was regret for getting Anthony involved, but he would later. Right now, it just made him want to rush in, coming at Vivi from an angle so that at least one of them could flank her. It was a looooooong shot, but there wasn't any turning back now.
"Yeah, ya won't be when we give ya these hands!"
