Maya is calm and collected. Normally, Maya is taking care of a student in her nurse's office , however since she came to public high school 552, she noticed a several many students needed someone to talk to. It seemed the Councilor was not doing her part. She often listens to the students that need to talk. Most times she only listens. Occasionally a student will need advice. She will offer it without a second thought. Maya is always about the students and will never jeopardize her position for anything but a student.
Fighting Style:
Maya doesn't like to fight. She would much rather talk things through. Greater minds always prevailed. She is never one to go past the point of stopping her attacker. Maya will never hurt her opponent further unless absolutely necessary.
Strengths:
Independent, calm, intuitive, thoughtful, natural leader but knows when to follow, fast, intelligent, collected, learned
Weaknesses:
Not strong, won't ask for help (prideful), Distrustful(to guys),
History:
When I was a child, my mother told me stories about what she did when she was younger. She fought through medical school and became the first female doctor in her town. It was highly frowned upon for a woman to be a doctor even when she was a child. I listened earnestly and hoped to God I would be able to become a nurse one day. I hadn't the high hopes to be a Doctor, but I could be a nurse!

When I turned fifteen, I began pouring through university pamphlets. One after another. I poured over them and picked out the ones I would try to do my damnedest to attend. The top two were Harvard Medical School and University of Oxford. I devoted my entire high school career to achieving the grade requirements and above. I did as many extra credit as I could. I attended seminars and after school programs. I poured through Anatomy books and read medical journals in my spare time. My whole life revolved around becoming a nurse.
At long last, a letter arrived in the mail for me from both schools. The same day! How lucky I was! My mom paced by the kitchen table waiting for me to get home. When I finally burst through the door she shoved a letter opener in one of my hands and the letters in the other.
"Open them! Open them!" She chanted, hopping from foot to foot.
I opened the first letter, Oxford, and read aloud the first sentence. "Congratulations you have been accepted..." I didn't get to complete the sentence because my mom squealed and gave me a jump hug. "I am so proud of you!" I could hardly believe it my self. I just held her and starred at the letter with a blank stare. I had worked so hard to get in i hadn't given a single though to my actually being accepted. My mom stopped jumping and took the letter from my hands. Taking a step back to give me a bit of room, she grinned at me. "Ok. Now Harvard. And don't worry if you don't get accepted. You already got into Oxford!" She was almost shaking with anticipation.
My hand shook lightly as I dragged the Excalibur replica over the top of the envelope. I was already accepted into Oxford so I didn't need to worry about Harvard, right? The only problem was I'd have to live away from my mom. I didn't like that. She was my hero. She was everything to me. After dad left a few years ago with his hot new bride, mom was all I had. My eyes met hers and I sighed. Ok. Reaching in and pulling out the envelope, I read the first line. "We regret to inform you..." I stopped reading and my eyes filled with tears. "Oh, honey. It's alright! You made it into Oxford. Who cares about Harvard? It's probably filled with stuck up snobs anyway. You get to visit England, right? We always wanted to go there! I can come visit you sometimes too! Oh. honey..." She pulled me into a hug and I cried into her shoulder. My mom... My best friend. The only one that really understood me.
I pulled away just enough to get my mouth free from her shoulder. "But mom, you won't be there. I don't wan to leave you. I can't go with out you." She pulled away and smiled at me. She knew it would take me twelve years to get through schooling. Twelve years with out her. Twelve years without me. "I'll come visit all the time, honey. You'll see. Besides, I hear the English accent is just to die for. Who knows, maybe you'll find a man to bring home? She giggled and I with her. Mom always had a way of explaining things so I felt better about them.

I was graduating today. Mom was near the back of the auditorium. She had a hard time getting a spot. It made me laugh. She had come to see me every month I was here in England. She had kept her promise, even though sometimes it was hard to make ends meet at the house, Mom still came. We would go out and have lunch or just stay at my dorm all day watching soppy movies and laughing at the guys. I never did find a man like mom said I might. Most of the guys here were sweet, but really didn't catch my fancy. I had been on several dates. I even had a few boyfriends. Even so, none stayed, just like dad. They all left for one reason or another. My eyes traveled back up the the top of the stadium where my mom was sitting. She was waving like a maniac. I grinned brightly and waved back. Mom was always on my side. I loved her so much. She was amazing. Just amazing! She took off a whole month to spend with me so we could hang out and maybe even find a job for me. I had already decided I was going back to the States. I loved it here, but it just wasn't home.
I stood with the rest of my line to go and walk over the stage. "Maya Ann Gillespie" I bounded over the stage and grinned with tears lightly sparkling my eyes. Taking the diploma and shaking the Director's hand, I thanked him and turned to leave the stage. As soon as I was off I jumped and waved it at my mom who was whooping and screaming. I could hear her from where I was. She was awesome!
*-*-*-*-*
I dropped my bags at the door of my new house. Looking around, I sighed lightly. I bent over and took off my shoes before I walked around to survey all of it. It was normal enough. Three rooms, two bathrooms, six closets(three walk in), two car garage, loft above the living room overlooking the room, balcony wrapping around the house over a porch that also wrapped around the house, a kitchen that could withstand three people making separate meals with ease. Beautiful.
The house was apparently made for someone very rich. I shook the woman's hand and nodded. She spoke quickly about something to do with signing papers and then the place was mine. I smiled briefly and asked for a pen. And just like that, the house was mine. I would be staying here for a long time. My mom didn't like that I was only going to be a school nurse, nor that I wasn't too strong considering the school I would be going to. She let it go soon after she brought it up. She knew I had made up my mind and after that, there would be no stopping me. I wondered what it would be like at this Public High School #552. Only one way to find out.
