Covering 6 blocks in one of the more bustling parts of San Francisco is the historic Japantown. Known for its strong Japanese-American population following the Great Earthquake of 1906, the neighborhood is lined with shops and restaurants all bringing a piece of Japan to the city. The center pieces of Japantown are the Japan Center, a shopping mall sitting right next to the Kabuki Theatre. Standing tall in an open space is the Peace Pagoda, a 5-tiered monument to the district.
And today, it was going to play host to a fight. The fragrance of cherry blossoms mixed well with the all-too-welcoming aroma of a nearby restaurant that had an excellent yakisoba. It was partly cloudy---just enough blue peeked through to brighten the scene as locals and tourists alike passed by. The messages were sent to Gino and Anthony to meet at the pagoda, where Kevin sat on a bench and kept his distance. He already set his mobile device to record the battle (in widescreen) and hoped just a little bit that they got the hint when he mentioned costumes.
