The largest of its kind, San Francisco's Chinatown holds the distinction of having the most dense Asian population outside of Asia itself. The area is culturally and historically rich as it probably hosts the closest thing to Chinese life. Streets are packed with pedestrians, local markets and restaurants that boast authentic cuisine. On some streets, multiple-story buildings with storefronts at ground level and apartments above it are common. Two points of interest are St. Mary's Square, marked by a statue of Sun Yat-Sen and Portsmouth Square, which is wide open to the public. T'ai Chi classes and Chinese chess all take place under a rendition of the famous Goddess of Democracy statue.
Today, the square played host to the spirit of war. Kevin made his perch on a fire escape, just high enough to catch the action at a good angle. On the corner was an older male with a booth where he fried up street noodles for passersby and tourists. He had an older stereo that blasted traditional music. The sky was clear and blue with a shadow cast across the square from the building Kevin was on. The stage was set. Now, they just needed the fighters...
