Valo and Kenji would awaken in a dark room, lit only by a hole near their feet that offered minimal light to begin with. The room was humid, and, from what they could see, there were bodies... above them? Upon closer observation the two would realize they were hanging from the ceiling, upside-down, with their feet shackled together and their arms tied behind their backs. The bodies below were vast in number, and all of them were mangled in some way. It looked, in fact, like they were spelling out a word, from the position they were in.
Kyofu. The two were of Japanese descent, and would likely know its meaning.
Valo's body would feel very heavy, and it would be hard for him to move around normally because of this. Kenji would be suffering from a loss of sight. The two were both covered from the neck down in scars and stitches they did not have before this event. They were dressed only in rags, with no shoes or shirts, and had none of their belongings on them.

Kenji groaned as he woke up. He already didn't like coming out of sleep or unconsciousness as things stood, but when the last thing he remembered was that indescribable being's hand touching his head and wracking his everything with pain, that didn't make for a particularly desirable reawakening. He opened his eyes... Then paused, because it quickly hit Kenji that he could not see. Had he become blind from sheer agony? Or was this yet another supernatural happening as a result of his encounter? He genuinely didn't know, and although he was worried that it was the former, he kept as level a head as he could.
Operating without sight was not something Kenji hadn't done before, although a near-total blindness was new. He'd been in the dark before, or had to feign unawareness with closed eyes before, using his remaining senses to accomplish his goal. Thus he would have to do the same once more in lieu of using his eyes. Kenji took stock of the situation as best he could. He moved his body and found that his arms were tied behind his back, presumably with rope, while his feet were more securely locked up, perhaps with ankle cuffs. His clothes were different; his pants felt like rags, and he lacked both footwear or a shirt. His body had far more apparently recent scars than he had before the encounter, and the room in which he found himself in was humid. He also felt a vaguely familiar sensation of hanging from something, and his hair felt like it was standing up; more likely than not, he was upside down, along with his yet-unknown companion that he detected from the sound of their own leg shackles clinking.
"Hood... Hood, is that you? Whoever you are, I can't see a thing. Where are we, and why do I feel like a pendulum?"

- Valo's eyes began to open slowly, blinking several times as a searing pain began evident in his head... and his entire body. His vision was blurry, but he soon learned that there wasn't much light to go off of in the first place... his eyes opened wide as he remembered the demon, that creature from before. Whatever it was. His body felt extremely heavy for some reason, and he had a feeling it wasn't just the upside down gravity... And a quick observation of the room left Valo in shock, as he saw the bodies on the ground.
Holy... shit...
- Were those real bodies? What was he kidding, they had to be... the smell of death and decay was strong in this place, and Valo began to sweat profusely, thinking that that could be their fate as well.
"... Kyofu..."
- That's what the bodies spelled as he began to look at them. It was the Japanese word for fear. A bit over the top... he thought, but it was appropriate all the same.
"S-Sarah... are you there...? I need a location..."
- No answer. He began to realize his earpiece was gone, as was everything else he had before they were taken. He was down to nothing but rags. Great. He was practically naked, figuratively and literally. He would not be able to send an SOS to Sarah to get help... it looked like they'd be stuck on there own. And judging from the bodies, the chances of getting out alive were minimal.
- He snapped back into reality upon hearing a familiar voice, it belonged to Kyuketsuki from earlier. Of course, they had been taken together. But Valo was shocked to find that the man couldn't see a thing now, did the creature blind him? Bastards...
"Yeah... it's me... I don't know where we are, but we're chained to the ceiling upside down... the room is really dark, but I can make out a small light below us... and a lot of bodies. Sickly arranged to spell out 'Kyofu'... I'm trying to think of a way to get us down now."
- Valo's voice would come out as his natural voice now, with his voice modulator missing. He was unable to disguise it to its deeper form he used as a vigilante, so the man would hear Valo as he was.

Hood certainly sounded different to Kenji's ears - perhaps something to do with his outfit - but that wasn't the important part, personally. He was more concerned, and admittedly unsettled, by his description of the room they'd awoken in. The cryptic scene of corpses forming a word illustrated itself rather graphically in his mind, having a particularly memorable experience of what dead bodies would look like. The word itself, however, was more interesting and telling: 'kyofu.' Fear, in his native tongue. Kenji could confess to being afraid of the previous encounter, but as was his way, he'd had to suppress his fear and try to find a way out, leading to where they were now. Once again, he would need to keep a level head in this disturbing plight, lest he be unable to see or hear his sisters again.
With Hood apparently thinking of a way to get out, Kenji decided to talk things out to speed the process along. "I'm guessing from the texture that our hands are bound with rope, or something similar. If we're patient, we should be able to twist or wiggle out of it. That kinda leaves the issue of our legs, though... What's holding them? Handcuffs, chains, what? And what's suspending us for that matter?" It was in part rhetorical, and in part an honest inquiry, considering he couldn't see a damn thing. Blinking his sightless eyes, Kenji tried looking in Hook's direction based on where his voice was coming from. "If our hands are free, we might be able to figure out how to get our legs free. Then, well... Then we've just gotta get down without eating shit on landing. How high up are we, anyhow?"

- Valo listened to Kyu as he spoke, taking in all of his suggestions carefully. They definitely needed to get onto the ground level as soon as possible, as the blood rushing to their heads couldn't make matters any better.
"... Yeah, I think we need to wiggle our way out of these ropes, you're right." And with that, Valo began to move his hands in an attempt to get them free from the ropes, constantly attempting to wiggle them off or just straight out break through them.
- In the middle of it, he looked upwards as Kenji asked his next questions. "It.. it looks like our legs are shackled, but we're not shackled to each other. And there's a chain holding us up to the roof... I can't see where it leads or how high up it goes." Perhaps they could climb?
- He then looked down, wishing he didn't have to look at the bottoms below them. "I'd say... about ten feet off of the ground, it's hard to tell... it'll be a painful drop, but... maybe those bodies could break our fall, as much as I hate to say it..."
- The very thought was unsettling, but first things first, they had to get the ropes off.

With Hood's confirmation of the wiggling strategy, Kenji too began to attempt working his hands and wrists out from the bindings, and continued listening to his fellow victim's details and suggestions. While the idea of using the bodies to break their fall wasn't exactly a fun thought, if they were already dead, then there was no more harm they could do so long as they didn't deliberately desecrate their corpses further. As for the ceiling chain, he too contemplated the idea of climbing it, though in his current state, he could end up bumping his head on the roof without adequate direction and falling, and if the chain was long enough, he might very well break his ankles and worsen his predicament further.
"Ten feet, huh... Well, we COULD try ascending, but with me blind as I am, I'd need you to direct me. One wrong move and I could fall back down and snap my ankles, and that helps nobody." The eastern offered a morbid chuckle, emphasizing his point. "While it's far from a pleasant idea, using the dead as cushions for a straight fall may be the safer route... Are there any bodies directly beneath me?" He 'looked' down with his sightless gaze, as if trying to seek out whatever Valo would describe next.

The two would find that they were, indeed, about ten feet above the bodies, and Valo could relay that to Kenji. They would also find that the ropes were well-bound, but not necessarily tight. Enough wiggling and they just might be able to get those ropes loose, especially with the moisture in the air. The more they wiggled, the looser they'd become, and eventually, their hands would be free.
It would be hard to tell whether or not the bodies below the two would be nearly enough to cushion to fall, but there were bodies beneath both Kenji and Valo. They could try and unshackle themselves, but up or down would be for them to decide.

- Valo felt his hands come free suddenly, and a small sense of accomplishment surged through his being. Small, but very significant to their escape, more than likely. Letting his arms dangle below him, Valo took a moment to feel that freedom on his wrists.
"Phew... Kyu, it looks like there's bodies directly below the both of us, but..." He looked back up to the ceiling, or the general direction of it anyway. "After that weird demon we ran into, I'm sort of afraid those things would wake up and be zombies or something... god, I can't believe I'm saying that."
- He grunted in pain as he did his best to bend his body upwards, the scars on his body aching as his hands fumbled with the shackles on his feet, trying to pull them loose. That heavy feeling didn't help matters either.
"Either way... argh... I'm not going to leave you on your own..."

Kenji managed to free up his hands, clapping them together once in satisfaction. Now that he had his mitts at the ready again, he took the opporunity to stretch them. Hearing how the vigilante called him, he laughed despite the grim situation. "'Kyu', huh? That's an awfully cute way to call me. It'd be adorable if a girl spoke like that." The easterner's jokes were not in ignorance of the scenario they found themselves in, but Kenji's way of raising morale in an otherwise seemingly hopeless environment. This man could not see, yet he quipped and teased as if none of it was happening. If nothing else, it certainly helped himself stay calm despite the well-founded concerns in his mind.
"Still," he continued, returning to the topic at hand as he too bend up enough to attempt fiddling with his shackles for the sake of releasing himself, "I get what you mean. It's not the sort of thing either of us would expect to happen on a given day. Oni, possibly zombies as you said? Nothing about this is right... And I'd like to know just why this is happening to begin with. Wouldn't you?"

Valo and Kenji would find that their shackles were on tightly, but if they fiddled with them hard enough, they would be able to rip them open. They would need to do so carefully, however, as if they did not exercise caution, they would drop to the bodies below. Removing the shackles would require some creativity.

- Valo was fiddling and pulling on the shackles, looking for some weakness in the design or whatever else. He discovered that while they were tight, they seemed brittle enough to break open, he just needed the right leverage.
"Heh, if you get out of here, maybe you'll find a cute girl who will do that for you. Maybe even become the future Mrs... what was it, Miyamoto?"
- He remembered what the creature called him, that thing strangely knew Valo's name too despite the disguise. It had to be otherworldly, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
"But you're right... I, too, am curious about what's going on here." He'd pull on his shackles with all of his might, attempting to pull with his legs as well in an effort to tear the shackles off. His hand would be gripping the chain just in case he ended up falling, if he succeeded in pulling them off. "But... I think right now, our lives are the most important thing."

"Miyamoto, yeah. What about you, Morei? Any girls in your future, you wager?" Kenji chuckled, but intended for the question to go unanswered following the rest of Valo's monologue. Their lives indeed came first, for they could not speak of the future before they were free and clear.
On that note, he had a thought about how to proceed. He grasped the chain itself in one hand, not too tight, but enough to stay steady. His strategy was to use the strength of his legs and other hand to free one shackle at a time with measured force, then move onto the other. When the second leg was released, assuming this all worked, he'd at the same time grip the chain hard to prevent himself from slipping down immediately. If he freed both at once, he might fall unceremoniously and miss his target, but freeing one at a time while clutching the chain would allow him to control his drop - hopefully, safely - onto the cryptic 'pillows' below.

It would take a fair amount of effort, but after a moment, the two would be able to break the shackles. Valo, ripping both off at once, was in danger of falling, whereas Kenji was able to remain on the chain so long as his grip held out once he'd freed his legs. With all their limbs free, the two would have to decide whether to go up, or down. The unknown was a danger no matter what they decided.

SHIIIIT!
- Valo gripped the chain tightly as the shackles came off suddenly, doing his best not to drop to the floor below. He would grip the chain with both hands, taking a moment to look down to the ground.
"There's someone waiting for me back home... at least, I like to think that... dying here, well, that'd just upset her..."
- His sister, Hailey, was most important to him first and foremost. And then there was his best friend, Sarah. And then Raina, who he was almost certain but not 100% sure was his girlfriend. That 'her' was applicable to just about any of them, but he knew he couldn't die on Hailey... she was sick and needed him, and he was going to do anything to protect her.
- He looked up to the ceiling, and then back at the ground, and then back up at the ceiling.
"Alright then, Miyamoto... which way do you reckon we should try?"
- The bodies, potentially zombies, on the ground... he couldn't help but wonder if they were victims of falling from the shackles and just landing in the wrong way. Or how long their bodies were even there...

"Hm..." While Kenji settled himself on the chain, switching his hands to keep from losing his grip more quickly than he needed to, he glanced down and up in turn despite his sightless vision, chiefly out of habit. "Well, if you say there's light coming from the ceiling, then perhaps it's a good way out. There's no guarantee that we can find or make that way before one or both of us lose grip, though, and from an even greater height than your suggested ten feet, we could miss our targets and end up just like them. Wonder what kind of word that'd spell then..." A rather disturbing way to look at it, but Kenji considered that Scrabble conundrum good incentive not to make any errors here.
As he switched hands again, the easterner cocked his head, weighing his options. It was true that if even if they managed to hold on, they might find nothing up above, if indeed there was anything to find to begin with. On the other hand, if the corpses below were infact the living dead, they could be falling into a horde of flesh-eaters and end up among their pitiable ranks. Still, perhaps they'd find a more reliable escape from this dreadhall by going down and through... Whatever building they were in.
"I say we go down and take our chances with the dead. If that's a mistake, then I beg your forgiveness. If not..." Kenji paused, glancing down again before looking in Hood's direction. "Let's worry about that when it happens. One step at a time, right?" Continuing to beat back the fear and dread that would dare well up inside of him, Kenji had made his decision.
"If you agree, then do a blind guy a favor and count us down. I'll release when you do."
