Several armored vehicles were parked in various parts of the city, and hidden inside of them were soldiers. They were decked out in tactical gear and were well protected, and had various blunt weapons and tranquilizers. They were here with a mission, having tracked down two of their targets at last... they arranged the evacuation of the populace in a part of the city, believing both of their targets to be there. They would hunt them down without complication.
"Adrian Morei... Vivian Perish... we found you at last."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Valo was walking down the street, on his way home after running some errands. He was heading back to his motorcycle, but something was strange. It was the middle of the day, and not a single person was in sight. No cars, no people, not a single soul was here. Even his bike was gone. Normally in this time of day, New York was bustling, the noise was loud, and it was hard to get around without bumping into anyone. Now it looked like something out of a horror movie.
I swear, if something jumps out at me... He thought, feeling really uneasy. He began to walk down the street, trying to see if there was any sign of what happened, but the place was clean. Nervously, he pulled out his phone, trying to dial Sarah or anyone else, but even his cell phone signal was cut off. It was like he was in a dead zone, or completely isolated from the world.
"What the hell is going on here...?"
In the distance, he heard screeching, looking ahead of him to see an armored vehicle pull up. The doors opened, and several men stepped out, armed with clubs and small guns. He didn't know what was going on, but he pocketed his phone and stepped back cautiously.
"Are you the guys who did this?" "Adrian Morei... you're coming with us." "Yeah, sorry, I'm going to have to pass."
They aimed their weapons at him, and Valo bolted off to the right, running through an alleyway. The soldiers began to follow behind him, fast despite their heavy gear. At the end of the alleyway, another truck would pull up, and Valo would quickly change course, quickly kicking down the door to his left and running into the building. He quickly picked up a small, heavy object as he ran in, and threw it at a window in front of him to shatter it before diving over a counter and hiding behind it. As he hoped, the soldiers would run in and go out the window he broke, completely overlooking him.
He paused for a moment to catch his breath, looking around at his environment. It looked like he was in some small bar. He kept his head low, just in case, as he tried to figure out a way to get out of this mess.
Damn it... who are they, and how do they know me?

Sometimes silence is violent.
That's what Kaya had always said. Vivi had never been sure as to what the meaning was behind this, but she had always believed it alluded to mental struggles. Some people were so good at hiding their feelings, no one would ever be able to tell they were being eaten up from the inside, until it was too late.
The silence that night reminded her of her friends saying too. It seemed ever since Vivi had heard the saying, when she came across silence that felt out of place, it set her on edge, like a warning. That's why she ran right when she heard the trucks. Granted, she could've just been feeling overly paranoid that night, but regardless, she took to her heels and sprinted down an alley way, her pulse ringing in her ears.
Vivi clambered through a window into a dark empty building, and crouched behind one of the counters, listening and watching. The sound of automobiles grew louder, and she thought she heard voices. Only moments later, the sound of hurried foot steps reached her ears and she nearly let out a startled cry when the door was kicked down. The violet haired girl, just bit her lip and scowled, refusing to move. They'd see her if she did. She flinched when the stranger who entered shattered the window, then proceeded to hide behind the counter.
Vivi raised her eye brows slightly, but kept silent. Maybe he was the one being chased? In that case, maybe she didn't have anything to worry about. She didn't want to give him away though. If the boy looked her way, Vivi would hold a finger to her lips and wink, hopefully getting the idea across that she was hiding too. From here, they could only hope for the best.

Valo almost had a heart attacking seeing someone else was behind the counter with him, but her gesture and wink was almost instantly reassuring as he made sure to stay completely still. She wasn't giving him away, and that was a good thing. In fact, if she was the only other friendly soul around, that left some more questions...
Once the coast was clear, he would take a deep breath, relaxing a little bit. Getting a closer look at the girl, he realized he recognized her. From the time Yannick gave out drugs, or when the big fight with Riot happened. Valo didn't know her besides from those sitings, but she was definitely one of the more sane people at the school. And now he was here with her, running from God knows what. If his first impression was right though, there wasn't many others he'd rather be stuck in a tough situation with, as she seemed capable enough.
"So... if you're here... are they after you too? Any idea what happened to everyone?" Valo asked her quietly, making sure they weren't in any danger before talking. He knows they called him by his name... his real name. And that made him a thousand different kinds of uneasy.

Vivi leaned forward a bit before answering, keeping her voice low.
"I'm not sure actually..." she admitted, "I got a bad feeling when I noticed how quiet everything was, and ran when I heard the trucks. But seeing as they're after you I might not actually have anything to do with this."
She paused and listened for a moment before continuing.
"I'm not sure about why there's hardly anyone around these parts, but its totally shady. I don't like it."
Upon closer inspection, Vivi realized he was a student from PHS #552, she'd seen him around. Go figure, it seemed like kids from that place were constantly running from trouble.

Valo sighed, leaning his head against the counter. Great, so if they really were after just him... that meant he was endangering this girl as well. He didn't like putting anyone in danger, but it seemed inevitable. If this was true, getting her out safe was his responsibility suddenly, even if it meant him giving himself up for her if it came to it.
"Just my luck..."
There were definitely too many guys to take on in a frontal assault, he wasn't Superman. He knew this girl could hold her own, but these guys had both the numerical advantage and had weapons. It just wasn't fair all around. He leaned back closer to her and spoke quietly
"If that's true, I'm sorry... I'll find a way to get you out of this. The entire city can't be this quiet. But you're right... it is shady."
Staying quiet for a moment, he could still hear them outside the building. It seems losing sight of him just infuriated them. If they weren't dumb, they'd probably start to search the building. But right now it was also too risky to move just yet.
"When they leave the area, that's when we'll be free to move somewhere else. But we're going to have to work together."
He hoped she was a team player, anyway. They needed a goal though, he just didn't have any idea what they should, or even could, do.

Vivi's face seemed to show a hint of confusion, but it would be difficult to see in the dark. This guy must be one of those kids that took the well being of others as his responsibility... After spending the last six years of her life with pretty much no one to depend on, the idea felt foreign. The last thing this guy needed was to feel responsible for her safety, he pretty clearly had his own problems to take care of.
"It's not your fault, bro," Vivi shrugged, "You don't need to worry about looking out for me."
At his mention of team work, however, Vivi relaxed a bit. She could do that much, right?
"...Sounds like a plan," she piped up again, "How close are they?"

She talked tough, though if past events were any indication, it was because she could hold her own. There was certainly no doubt about that. He just wasn't sure how tough these guys were exactly, even if they managed to get past the weapons. With that kind of equipment and all of these men, they couldn't really have only been after him, right? It seemed like too much effort, and he didn't even know why they wanted him.
"Good. We're going to have to--..." He trailed off, going silent suddenly. Valo held a hand up as a sign for the girl to make no noise.
He could hear footsteps inside of the building. They were growing louder, and it sounded like it was more than one person from the frequency of it.
"I could've sworn he ran through here..." "I hear the other team lost sight of the girl. They're pretty elusive." "Yeah? Whatever, they won't make it past the barricade. We have them cornered."
He was holding his breath, but the mention of a girl was a bit surprising. He wasn't sure if they spoke about the violet haired girl next to him, but the confused look on his face was probably pretty visible. Either they wanted her too, or they were just rounding everyone in the district up, hence no one else being around... either way, it wasn't important right now.
Slipping his phone out of his pocket quietly, he was glad he set it to vibrate as he opened the messenger app and started a new text. Keeping the light low and hopefully out of sight, he began to type a message before handing the phone over to the girl to look at. The message would read: "we need to take them out. follow my lead, ok?"
Unless she was heavily against it, then he'd stay put. But they didn't seem like they were about to leave.

Vivi listened carefully, and kept her mouth shut. They were looking for a girl? Granted, chances were it might not be her, but it seemed as if she and the boy were the only people around this part of the city. Why the hell would anyone be looking for her though? She was just about as average as it gets when it comes to a teenage girl. Now she was, at least… her earlier teen years were a different story.
She watched the boy type something up on his cell phone, before turning the device so she could read it. Vivi flashed him a thumbs up and nodded. At this point, it was either sit around and wait to get caught, or try to find a way take them out. Either way, the chances of them getting caught were high… but one option at least offered a chance.
The girl waited for him to make a move, seeing as she was supposed to be ‘following his lead’ as it were. She didn’t know much about him, but from what little she observed, he seemed intelligent. Hopefully he didn’t intend to charge out of the building screaming like a banshee.

VALO THEN JUMPED UP AND BEGAN SCREAMING LIKE A BANSHEE!
He pocketed his phone, taking a deep breath. With the girl's agreement, this should go smoothly no matter how tough these guys were... hopefully. He reached over and grabbed a bottle of alcohol for good measure, it was gonna be his start to the fight. Steeling himself, he tossed the bottle over the counter, and it flew across the room and over the soldiers. Smashing against the floor on the other side, the soldiers panicked a bit from the sudden sound and turned their backs towards the counter. Peeking up over the counter to be sure it was safe, Valo made his move.
Jumping over the counter, he rushed straight for soldier one and slammed his fist directly into the back of the guy's head, sending him crashing into a table in front of him. The second soldier was quick to react however, pulling out a club and sending it directly across Valo's face, causing the boy to fall backwards onto the floor. It hurt a lot but he had to ignore it for now. The soldier was advancing on him now, and it looked like the other one was about to get up.
"Big mistake, kid."

Vivi found herself cringing upon seeing the boy get whacked across the face, that had to hurt. With the other soldier still down, the club guy was advancing toward the boy as he laid on the floor. Any attack she could think of from here was risky and very unlikely to work, but it was now or never
Vivi climbed on top of the counter and jumped off of it, landing on the back of soldier who was approaching the boy. She wrapped her legs around the man’s torso and put one arm around his neck, clasping her other bicep in a rear-naked choke. From there, she squeezed tight. Chances were, the guy would try to hit her face with his club, so she kept it down and against his back so he could only hit the crown of her head. Hopefully, as this angle he wouldn’t be able to put much force behind it.

Seeing the girl get up, Valo would react quickly, jumping up and grabbing the guy's club arm and disarming him before he could do any damage to her with it. From there, he would smash the club into the guy's knees to cause him to buckle and fall to them, although he hoped the girl would be able to get off of the guy before she fell completely over. But from there, it would be easy for her to take him out.
Valo would quickly turn around to face the other guy, throwing the club as hard as he could at the guy's head before running up and kicking him in the face, making sure he was knocked out cold.
If she took the guy out too, Valo would turn to her, panting a bit and wiping the blood from his lip from the previous injury. "Phew... are you okay?"
Otherwise, if she was having difficulty, he'd jump onto the other guy and punch the crap out of him until he passed out, before asking her the same thing.

The boy disarmed Vivi's opponent and clubbed the guys knees, causing him to fall.
Crap!
It would only have taken a few more seconds to render him unconscious! Regardless, she held onto him and took the slam, finishing the choke. The man would only be out for a few minutes, she wiggling out from underneath him, she stood up and delivered a swift kick to the man's head, hopefully to ensure a maximum nap time. Unfortunately, he was probably wearing a helmet so it wouldn't likely do much.
With both of the soldiers taken out, she turned to the boy and nodded in answer to his question. "How's your face?" she asked, "If you're feeling alright, we should get moving."

She got him. Good. He made a mental note never to get on this girl's bad side, as he didn't want to end up choked out and kicked himself. The good news? These guys were possible to beat. The bad news? There was probably too many for them to handle on their own.
"Hurts, but... I'm fine, thanks." He gave a small smile of reassurance before crouching down near the guy the girl beat. He started examining the gear for some kind of sign to show where they came from... but after looking thoroughly, there wasn't a single thing. It was entirely blank, minus the guy having his last name on a dog tag. Finding his gun on the guy's waist, Valo would examine it, finding it to be a tranquilizer with a single shot.
"No sign of where they're from... and they're using tranqs instead of regular guns. Why...?" He had a lot of questions. Some group that was basically one huge question mark was hunting them down. He tossed the gun back down to the guy, noting that a single shot wasn't something that would help them all too much.
"Yeah... let's go. They mentioned a barricade... I guess that's our destination. We just need to figure out where it is."

The boy looked through the fallen soldiers gear, and unfortunately found no way to identify them. Weird... what kind of operation was this? If they were using tranqs as opposed to guns, then maybe the soldiers meant to catch them instead of kill them. While she wasn't big on dying, she didn't exactly feel reassured. She hated the idea of confinement for certain reasons...
Vivi listened to the boy's suggestion and responded with a sharp nod. "Right," she said, "We're gonna have to go look around to find it... just be careful."
The warning was more directed at herself, really. In situations like these she had a knack for doing reckless things and causing a lot more trouble than anyone really needed... she'd have to stay calm, and work with this guy if they were going to get out of this situation.

"Yeah... you too. Just... promise me if the going gets rough and I get taken out or something that you'll just run and leave me behind, alright?"
He was serious. Heroics like that are what causes everyone to get caught or killed in anything he'd ever heard of. Sure, she could probably save him if the worst happened, but it was better if he knew she managed to get out herself. Of course, he wasn't going to make that promise in return, but he wasn't going to admit that either.
Walking over to the window quietly, he would look out of the bar. The streets looked almost completely deserted, minus the random patrol group here and there. There was an alleyway across from where they were currently, and he was sure that from there, they could get to a fire escape and get up to a rooftop.
"There's an alleyway there... if we can find a ladder and climb to the roof of a building, we might be able to find out where we should go."
If she was in agreement, he'd quietly climb out of the window, and waiting for an opportunity for the both of them to make it through, would sprint towards the alleyway and back into cover. Otherwise, he'd wait to see what other suggestion she might have.
