Damn, Steven sometimes didn't guard his words as well as he should have done, but he wasn't one to lie just because he wanted to. If there was something at stake maybe. "I'd rather not talk about it, maybe when we know each other a little better." He answered honestly, he really didn't want to talk about it, because that would lead him into talking about his father more. "Though I see that as a likelihood in time. Don't you?" He would ask, moving his rook as a point. It was likely that now they both had someone to play with they would slowly get to know each other the game.

Zoe cocked a brow curiously as he spoke. At least he was honest. She nodded softly as she moved her own piece, speaking in a gentle tone. ”Yes, I think we probably will.” Her eyes shifted off to the corner as she spoke. ”Although, I really... hope I'm not in this school for much longer.”

Steven didn't blame her, private school had to be safer then the public school system was these days. In fact Steven couldn't help but wonder a little where he would have been if he had gone to private school instead of #325, he wouldn't be the same man that was for sure. "Well it would be a shame to lose someone who plays, but I'm sure many would envy you." Steven said making his move.

Zoe smiled weakly as he spoke. ”Ah... It would be wouldn't it..?” she spoke softly. ”Well, we could always meet at one of the public libraries to play,” she shrugged as she moved a piece. She knew full well that when she got out of the school, she'd probably make no effort to continue contact with those she met here. It wasn't out of spite or anything. Her schedule at the private academy gave no time for socializing.

Steven had no idea that her word of maybe meeting to play if she did nd up moving school once more, were not really true. However he liked the idea. "That sounds like a good idea to me. Plus I could think on my moves slightly longer then I do then if we had time. What are you doing this Saturday?" Steven managed to ask her, though he would blush as he did, finally throwing some doubt on his confidence he had been showing up to that point.

Zoe shifted her chess piece as he spoke, glancing up at him as he spoke. ”I have a performance in the evening. However, I should be available in the morning.”

Steven would raise a eyebrow at her words. "A Performance?" He asked in a questioning tone, wondering what she was doing in the evening. As he took the pawn that had just taken his with one of his own. "Well which library do you normally hang out in?" He would then ask as well.

She nodded softly, confirming his question. It was indeed a performance. ”Yes,” she spoke softly as she moved her knight piece across the board. ”Oh, um, I usually go to the one not too far from here. It's about eight or nine city blocks down the road towards Jefferson.”

Steven would note, while most people would explain what sort of performance, she had not and as such would not press the issue you unless she wanted to. As she explained about which library. "Sound fine to me, let whoever lose today have another shot. Unless you can think of something else to do?" Steven said, seeing his line of attack not going the way he wanted and switching up positions and tactics.

She nodded softly as he spoke. ”Yeah... that'll be nice to have a second chance.” She tilted her head to the side as she moved her knight piece once more. ”Hrm... I'm not sure. We could try playing checkers maybe?”

Steven saw her plan of attack and realised that he could use it. "I might be better at checker then chess. Then again it is a lot simpler so no real surprise to be honest." Steven said as he moved the queen that her knight was clearly after. "Check" He said once more.

She nodded in agreement silently as she moved her piece.

And there we go, that what he wanted. He smiled having fun with the game.

She'd show no sign of any of her thoughts as she moved her knight in silence.

Steven didn't care about the knights proximity to his king, and let his Queen go on a war path.
