Today was something of an off day for the biker youth. There had been nothing on his schedule today aside from an early morning shipment of weapons he had picked up early this saturday morning. He had spent a good portion of time lounging around, sulking over something he had done nearly a week ago. Of course, murdering your mother took a toll.
His dark secret was slowly eating him away inside and it was pretty apparent in his face. Sunglasses rested on the brim of his nose, hiding the dark bags under his eyes. He hadn't been sleeping very well this past week, either. But he couldn't allow himself to sit around all day with haunting memories. Instead, he decided to take the club dog, Grimm, out for a walk around central park.
The half Husky, half pitbull mix was extremely energetic this day. The short haired dog was only a year old, but he was sure a handful on the leash. The grey and black dog was yanking him down the path, extremely pleased to be out for the walk. Austin, even through all his emotional pain, cracked a small smile. Sometimes the simple things helped.
"Slooow down, Pup.. You're gonna wear me down before we even get to start."
Austin would pull on his leash a little bit to force him to stand still long enough so that he could dip his hand into the pocket of his button up long sleeve, underneath the Apex cut he currently adorned. Pulling a cigarette up, he would light it just as the dog barked excitedly and pulled away, the leash escaping Austin's grip.
"Griimm! GRIMM, GET BACK HERE!"
Knuckles would mutter under his breath as he dashed off after the puppy as it ran down the path leading deeper into the park. However it seemed the dog hadn't planned on going far. Grimm had found someone, a girl. And was in the process of sniffing the hell out of her. Sometimes dogs just loved to violate people. But to make sure he didn't get too intimate, Austin would stroll over, frowning toward the pup.
"Grimm.. What did I tell ya about running off!? Get over here and leave her be.."

Since being jumped, Phoebe had avoided her normal paths. Not always the smartest idea, considering, but...at least today she was on more of what she would define as normal. The weight of the bags in her hands put uncomfortable pressure on her ribcage, but, despite her short breaths puffing out into the cool air, she was managing.
So imagine her surprise when a set of paws landed on the backs of her thighs and a rather cold nose started poking about--cold because she could feel it through her pants.
"Ack--!" She stumbled a bit with a gasp of more than just surprise before turning, dislodging the...puppy? It was a puppy! Her wince dissolved into a grin as she knelt down, putting one knee against the paved path and keeping her other leg bent. "Well hello pup..! Who are you, now, and where did you run off from~?"
As the dog certainly wasn't hostile, she let the bag handles slide onto her wrists, keeping the foodstuffs and items safe from the young dog while allowing her to gently tousle its ears and finally look around to see the approaching young man. Part of her was wary, but...he was clearly addressing the dog.
"Grimm, huh..?" She lifted her hands so the dog wouldn't be more tempted to stay with her, and looked towards the human, to ask: "Like the Brothers Grimm?"

"No, I don't think so.. I think it was more so based off the Grim Reaper.. I didn't pick it."
Austin would approach the puppy and the female he had decided to try and get to know a little better. Hazel eyes would carefully inspect the girl briefly, before he would drop in to a crouch next to the dog and pat at his back, before lifting a hand and rubbing at his eyes. Taking care not to blow smoke in the girl's face, Austin would look away as he exhaled, examining their surroundings as he did.
"He belongs to a friend.. Sorry he bothered you. Little attention hound, if you ask me."
Standing up once again, his left hand would wrap the leash around his wrist to ensure that Grimm wouldn't be able to escape again. Lifting his cigarette to his lips for one last puff before he flicked it onto the walkway and stepped on it to put it out. He would then extend a hand toward her and introduce himself.
"The name's Austin. What do I get the pleasure of callin' you?"
Maybe he was being just as much of a dog, as little Grimm here. He couldn't help but notice she was a pretty girl. However beauty wasn't always the most important feature to look for, Austin had learned from past experiences. Not that he was looking deeply into this chanced meeting. He didn't even know her.

"Oh... Well, I would have been a little closer with my second guess, then~ But he certainly doesn't look grim, or particularly like a reaper~"
She gave him a bright grin after noting his interactions with the dog. She was one of those people that felt she could trust a person by how kind he was to animals...and this one seemed genuine enough. He didn't even blow smoke into her face, which was a bonus! With one last gentle ruffle to Grimm's ears, she stood up again, gripping the handles of the bags she was carrying.
"Animals are great, so, he wasn't bothering me at all~ If anything, I'd say it was a good thing he decided to stop at me, or you might be running for a while yet~!" She would have bounced a bit, even with her hands holding bags, but, withheld from the motion due to her ribs. It was when he extended the hand that she sheepishly looked down at them and bit her bottom lip. Still, not wanting to be rude, she shifted the bags from one hand to the other to give his a proper shake, along with another easy and bright smile. "Phoebe. Phoebe Hollows~ It's nice to meet you, Austin..!"
Yep, she was just plain happy~

"Naah, he's a harmless little bastard. Unless your a shoe.. And you're right.. I probably would have run all over the damn park looking for him otherwise.."
Austin would then here her introduce herself as one Phoebe Hollows. The name wasn't heard so often, he knew he would be able to commit it to memory without issue. It was probably clear to the girl before him though, that he was a little rough around the edges when it came to conversation. He certainly didn't speak like the intellectual type.
"Nice to meet you, Phoebe."
Austin had been so caught up in the introductions that he hadn't even realized that Grimm had circled him four times and the leash was wrapped about his ankles. And unfortunately for him, the dog caught sight of a pigeon close by. Almost as soon as he finished speaking Grimm darted once again. Austin was taken by surprise, his feet yanked from under him as he fell forward into Phoebe, before dropping against the walkway floor. At least he hadn't lost hold of the leash.
"Yurk- Gah, Sorry.. Wasn't expecting that.. Grimm, get over here or no scoobie snacks for you."
As he laid upon the ground, it had only just it him that his mother wasn't on his mind, for the first time in a while. Even if it was only temporary, Austin was glad that he could at least forget for a little while. It was hard to have something so heavy on your conscious.

Austin wasn't bad in comparison to many of the people she'd met over the years, when it came to being rough around the edges. And she really didn't mind, in any case. It was easy to overlook for her.
Maybe too easy.
For, as she smiled at the returned sentiment, the pup sprang his unintentional trap! Austin fell towards her, and she certainly wasn't prepared enough to catch him or - the most mean of scenarios - let him fall face-first to the path below. Instead, what they got was a domino effect: he hit her, she gasped, and rocked, unbalanced, before hitting the ground on her rump. Unlike her companion's now-sure grip on the leash, Phoebe let go of her bags as she wheezed after her yelp of surprise and pain; thankfully her groceries wouldn't go far.
The initial collision jostled her ribs, but, the landing jarred them. What was better, rocking or holding still? The brunette didn't know? Maybe holding still after rocking a moment. Hunching certainly was a mixed bag of joy as well, as she circled her arms over where the tensor bandage was, hidden beneath her coat and shirt. "Ssssss--fffffff! ...ow, ow, ow...owwie..."

When Austin saw the girl's reaction, he had believed her to be joking. However after hearing her seething in pain, he realized that wasn't the case. He also took note that she wasn't complaining about landing on her bottom, she was rubbing at something underneath her clothing. Hazel eyes would watch her briefly, before he stood extending a hand toward her once again.
"You okay? Don't sew me. You wouldn't get a dime, anyways."
He would give a small chuckle as he stared and waited to see whether or not she would take his hand and allow him to help her to her feet. Austin had been injured and around injuries enough to know when someone was really in pain. Knuckles couldn't help but wonder what had happened to her.
"What are you hiding under there? Aside from the usual goodies.."
A small smirk slipped on his face again. He was horrible sometimes. Rarely did he watch what he said, even in the presence of females. It wasn't like he had grown up with a mother to teach him to respect women or anything. Beside, he guessed it was his way of trying to lighten the mood.

"S-S'okay...just need...a moment." The brunette managed to utter, slowing her breathing by degrees as she wrangled with the pain that receded to quite a lot of discomfort. Man, if she kept banging herself up like this, it would take longer than a few weeks to heal. With a slow, controlled exhale, she looked up and finally accepted the hand, planning on using him simply as a stable support so she wouldn't have to bend any more than necessary after getting her feet back beneath herself.
"Uhh--!" Instead of letting go of his hand at the comment - oh so very aware that would wind up hurting a lot more - she gripped a little tighter as her face quickly became a bright pink that had nothing to do with the cool temperatures. Whoa! What? Clearing her throat a little as she regained her feet, she decided...to ignore the thing that made her a bit more uncomfortable, if only because she wasn't that type of girl. She didn't reprimand him for the comment, though. "A few cracked ribs...
"Normally someone falling into me wouldn't hurt that bad, or falling onto my own rear end. But, don't worry, I won't sue you. You've got the cute pup."

Austin would snicker slightly as he felt her hand squeeze a little tighter and her face turn as red as a stop sign after his little comment. Sometimes he got a sick kind of pleasure from making people uncomfortable. But he wouldn't focus too much on it, because Phoebe would speak about her injuries and then the rest.
"See Grimm, I knew you were good for somethin'"
His hand would ruffle the dog's head after he had pulled Grimm back to him. He could tell the pup was getting a little anxious just sitting here instead of exploring the park. Austin would continue to pat him, as those Hazel hues looked up toward Phoebe once again. He decided that he would ask her to keep him company.
"This little guy wants to go. You busy? Wanna walk with me?"
Some part of Austin wanted to have her come to keep his mind free of him tormenting himself. However he knew that if she said no, he would live. After all, he had few people he called friends. And it wouldn't be his first rejection, either.

Taking another slow, steadying breath, Phoebe let go of Austin's hand in order to slowly crouch and fit the bags to her hands once again before rising to a standing position. To her credit, she didn't wince, but she could feel the slight trickle of a bead of sweat creep down her scalp and continue its downward trail down the back of her neck.
Fewf. But, she made it.
And then there was the surprise of being asked to walk with him. Should she? She didn't have anything that would spoil right away, and she could probably walk a while longer even with the bags. There was a trickle of wariness that crept along with the bead of sweat...but she shook it off, unwilling to be daunted by the five that tried to carry her off like chattle, unwilling to be cowed by people as a whole because of one incident that hadn't ended horribly.
"I was just walking home, so, not busy at all~ I'd be happy to walk with you and Grimm for a while." Her response was chipper, chirped and exuberant despite the pain she was previously in, and the discomfort that lingered.

Giving the dog one final pat, he would begin to walk, Grimm taking the lead. Austin would glance over toward Phoebe as he moved. He had watched her pick up all her groceries and Austin kind of felt bad he had not done it for her. It was his fault she had dropped them in the first place. But one thing he noticed was how well she was dealing with her pain.
"You must be one tough cookie. Why don't you let me help, I'm sure that isn't comfortable."
His free arm would extend as he offered to take her groceries for her. If she declined he wouldn't push it, no skin off his shoulders. He was just trying to be nice, something he wasn't always the best at doing. Whether she gave them to him or not, he would keep walking, the sound of Grimm's claws leading the way as he glanced around Central Park with his tongue flailing about.
"How'd that happen?"

"Ah, well...comes with the territory, I guess. Of being a boxer, I mean. But...thanks for the help~" She extended one hand in turn to give him the bags in that hand, and then redistributed the remaining ones in between her two hands with a quiet breath of gratitude before smiling again. "You sure you can handle that and Grimm?"
Yeah, she was poking a bit of fun at him in turn. But clean fun, in comparison.
Still, she wouldn't have given him the bags if she didn't think he could handle it, troublesome young dog and past happenings aside. It was nice to relieve some of the weight and balance the lighter load.
"Ah, the ribs..? Five guys jumped me. Probably wouldn't have gotten out of it if not for a friend~"
Yeah. That's right. Saya was a friend. The more she thought about it, the more it fit. And she didn't think he'd know her, anyway.

Austin would listen, even her little comment about the dog. He smirked slightly, but his initial assessment of her being a 'tough cookie' was right. She admitted she came from a boxer background, which he did find interesting. He watched fights here and there, but had never taken any fighting classes. He learned everything he knew from years of violence.
"Five guys, huh? I don't care how good a boxer you are. Those aren't good odds.
Austin wouldn't lie, he had been in a lot of group scuffles with the guys he ran with. He had seen a lot of different things play out. Usually when there was that many people there wasn't much you could do unless you were incredibly strong. As far as he was concerned, she was a lucky girl not to have had more happen to her.
"Ribs heal. You'll be stronger because of it. At least your friend was there when yoh needed them."

"Nope~" She agreed, not really venturing into detail at this point. He could probably gather a good idea on how she got her cracked ribs and it wasn't likely to be too far off. The bruising on her face was taken care of by makeup, thankfully, even though she wasn't prone to using it constantly.
"Yeah~! I'm really thankful she was." Phoebe nodded a little, her eyes roaming a little further ahead and to the sides before coming back to Grimm, an easy smile touching her lips. "So, just out enjoying the day with your friend's dog~?"

"Yeaah, just me and the fur ball today. My schedule was clear and I guess I needed to clear my head a little bit."
Austin too would look down to the dog he was taking care of for the afternoon. Sometimes he wished he had a dog's life. It was so much more simple. They didn't have the same kind of worries humans did. He almost envied the little guy. And they usually didn't have to shoot their mother in the face.
A solemn look overtook Austin's face for a moment, before he tried his best to push back those haunting images and the feeling that still came with then. His eyes would lift to scan the area, an opening popping up near by. Casually he would shift direction slightly, and he would turn his head back toward Phoebe.
"Why don't we take a break. I'm sure Grimm here would love to play ball."
The leashed hand would dip into his pocket and he would pull a clearly chewed tennis ball. He would take a knee by the clearing and unhook Grimm's leash from his collar. He would show him the ball, only to watch him run in circles barking like made. Heaving it into the clearing, he would watch him take of
