Plans for... um... who knows? (Musashi)

Ruby would grin when she managed to toss the sword out of his grasp, just as she'd planned... however, she didn't intend for him to twist around her and retake the sword he'd lost--and if only she'd been faster she would have been able to stop it from happening. But Musashi was undeniably more skilled than her in strength, speed, and stamina, which was something she knew she lacked. Being a master of a sword was undeniably great to be, however, it was a shame if a sword was in the hands of someone incapable of using it properly... so until Ruby learned how to become as skilled as Musashi in the other fields, she couldn't unlock the true potential of her swordsmanship. The white-haired girl could only turn slightly and lock her feet onto the ground, getting a good stance so that when she was hit, she wouldn't fall over, and she gracefully took the blow from Musashi. After he'd hit her, she grinned and regained her stature, standing up and placing on hand where she'd been hit... that was likely to leave a bruise later on. "Impressive," she said with a small laugh. "I honestly didn't think you'd be able to land a hit on me... but, then again, you are a lot faster than me, anyway."

"Impressive... I wouldn't call what I did impressive. More like luck to be honest."
He knew that the move he pulled off was smart, but it wasn't anything close to being impressive. What she did was truly a thing of beauty. Her technique was flawless, and despite all of the disadvantages she had she still manage to have him on his heels. "If anything I'm no different then a football athlete. Using my physical prowess to give myself an advantage." He said, shaking his head. "What you did was pure technique and swordsmanship. The kind of stuff that my dad use to do back when I watched him trained. All I did was exploit your weaknesses." He'd say walking closer to Ruby as he could see that she was holding on to where he had struck her.
"May I?" He would ask before placing his hand over her as she held her backside where his sword had landed. What he had just asked was clearly a contradiction as he went ahead and helped himself by placing his hand on her anyways. "Sorry, I hope I didn't hurt you too bad. I guess I'm still pretty clumsy with the sword." He hoped that she wouldn't reject his help, as it was the only excuse he would have to get close to her. He knew that she was tough and could handle herself without a doubt. Especially after the move that she had just pulled off. He knew that with some training with himself she could become the greatest swordsman yet.

"Hm?" Ruby asked when he asked if he could... well, she didn't really know what he was going to do but she didn't think it was probably anything bad... "It'll probably just leave a bruise, to be honest. These practice swords are really blunt. If it had been a real sword... well... I wouldn't be doing so good right now," she said with a small laugh. With his amount of force, it would have been likely she would have been cut in half, if he'd had a real sword. That would have hurt like hell, and even if it hadn't cut her, his amount of force used in the attack was going to, without a doubt, leave a nasty bruise... however, she'd experienced worse before, so she ignored the pain that she felt. It wasn't that big of a deal... "But you're still not that bad. I chose the claymore for you for a reason. It's for stronger people who have stronger attacks, and use their weapons for critical blows and for a wider space to block. From what you told me, you didn't seem all that agile and skilled with kinds of... graceful and slightly more feminine techniques, so I tried to get a sword that'd be fitting for it's master." She smiled. "And sure, being graceful and skilled with a sword is great, but it kind of becomes pointless when you have no other skills to put it to it's full potential... which, despite what you think, is exactly why I think you're likely to go far with this... you have a lot of potential, you know?"

"Wow..."
Musashi was speechless after listening to everything that she had to say. It was truly amazing how much she knew about swords. It was as if she could tell everything about him just by the way he handled a sword. It was beyond anything he could ever imagined. He's imagine how dangerous and amazing she would become once he got the chance to improve her physical prowess. With his level of athleticism or better she could be unstoppable to the above average fighter, and truly formidable against someone with his level of prowess. "I didn't know you put so much thought into this spar... Wow, I would have never imagined that you were this knowledgeable in the art of sword fighting."
She was going to mean a great deal to him and the rest of the members of his gang with her sword fighting abilities. Not to mention she was already a great friend. He couldn't have asked for a better person to encounter since his arrival back from Tokyo. "There are so many amazing qualities you have. Your probably the most brilliant person I've ever met since I have been down here... When I first met you Ruby, you looked so.... I don't know, different. You talk about how I have potential, well I'd say that you have just as much potential as I do. Your going to to do great things here, and I want to be by your side when you do." He would say with a smile on his face as he just stopped and looked at her for a moment. "So what now? Do want to continue or do something else. Whatever you choose is fine with me as long as I'm with you."

Ruby grinned. "Well, of course I put thought into it! But I still wasn't sure about it, which is why I had to ask about your fighting style earlier to make sure I chose the right kind of sword," she said. It was flattering that he thought she was a genius, but she could only shake her head at the comment. "Hardly. I've just been using a sword since I was a little girl and I was forced to master it at a young age," she said. Of course, no one had been pushing her to get better, but she felt it was an important skill to have in order to survive, at the time... "But I mean, there's plenty of things I'm pretty ignorant to..." she paused a moment before frowning a bit, remembering what she'd said earlier. "Like... how I didn't know what a boyfriend was. That was pretty silly of me. And there's lots of other things out there I have no idea about and seem quite childish with as well." She wasn't trying to put herself down, as Musashi thought she might have been, but she felt she was being honest. She was brave enough to admit her faults, but she didn't let it bother her too much. After all, where she lacked others succeeded, but where she was skilled, the majority of people lacked... Ruby thought about it, letting the tip of her sword touch the ground as she placed both hands on the hilt of the sword. "Hm... I don't really know," she said. "I don't really know what else we could do other than this, to be entirely honest... though if you wanted to do something else, now that I know what your fighting style is, as well as some of your strengths and weaknesses are, I think I could give you a few lessons even if it were verbally, so..." she decided to shift the power of what was going to happen next onto him, grinning and sending him a wink as she then said, "it's up to you!"

How the Hattori hated when she put negativity into the nice things that he said about her. Surely she was only being a realist and that was definitely something that he could respect about her. She wasn't going to sugar coat anything which would only make her an even more amazing person and friend. However, he wished sometimes that she could just live in the moment and would just take the time to just be completely positive about herself. She already knew what her weaknesses were, so he felt like she had no reason to dwell on them. "Well I mean you are from another country, so there was no way you could have known what a boyfriend was."
"The only thing that I want to do is hang with you, so I'm down for some more learning of sword and all that good stuff. Who knows, I might even buy my own set of swords in the future." He was definitely open to the idea of learning more about how sword fighting worked. If he learned enough of the movements perhaps he could apply some of its agile and fluid movements to his natural fighting style. It would make him a almost impossible person to predict on the battlefront. Well as long as they weren't as skilled at fighting with swords as she was, but he he doubted that he would find someone like that. After all she had been training since she was a girl. There was no way that anyone in this country had that kind of commitment.
"So whats next Miss Ruby? What are you going to teach, or show me this time."

((ooc: lol I apologize in advance for Ruby's rants XD))
Ruby couldn't help but to grin. Again, he was being nicer to her than necessary. Of course there were such things as boyfriends and girlfriends in France, she just truly had no experience with them so she was ignorant to the English translation... but, as the French would say, C'est la vie. She smiled when he called her "Miss Ruby" and then asked what else she'd teach him about. The last time she felt so proud to be a teacher was when she was teaching Jet how to sword fight! And that was quite some time ago... "Alright, well I guess I just have to teach you the basics, now," she said. "Which means that we're going to have to do a little bit of history." "Since ancient times, sword fighting was considered instinct. The ancient Greeks--thought to be the first to use swords as a type of weapon--said that there was no particular skill needed to learn how to fight with a sword, one fought on mere instinct and impulses. This is partially true, as you've seen from your own experiences," she said. He'd managed to land a hit on her merely due to the fact he had been fighting based off of the first reflexes that came to mind that he was used to working with. "However, the Romans saw sword fighting as to be more of an art that can become extremely powerful and useful if mastered properly and without fault. This is also partially true, as you saw with me." Ruby had all of the experience and had the art down to a science, but her physical strength couldn't back up her actual potential ability. A perfect example of how the Romans' ideas were only partially true. "People say that there's only three different styles of swordplay, which can be distinguished by the variety of swords. Swords with larger and heavier blades, such as cutlasses and claymores are used, again, for extremely strong and powerful blows. And due to their larger blades, if the wielder is strong enough to use their sword efficiently, they can use their blade as a shield and a shield is no longer necessary." She held out her sword she'd used before Musashi, saying, "Regular, and the most common of swords, known as long swords, short swords, or even bastard swords, are somewhere in the middle and are perfect for all-ranged abilities. They're small enough that they give the wielder the ability to be more swift in battle without lugging around a huge sword, but they have the same potential ability as a larger sword, in that, if used correctly, the blade can not only become a shield, but also give out deadly blows. Also, since it's smaller and lighter than a broadsword, it makes countering much easier, as well as moving quicker to give more precise attacks. However, since this sword is neither a broadsword nor a rapier, it lacks in each of those fields so it takes a master to perfect it's ability to a point where those disadvantages no longer serve even a hint of a problem. For instance. A long sword isn't as large as a broadsword, so it's harder to block attacks, and it's also harder to give deadly blows. But if the user is skilled enough to foresee their enemies attacks, this doesn't at all serve a problem. Likewise, a long sword isn't as small as a rapier, so therefore it's attacks aren't as swift and stealthy. But again, it all depends on the master. I have mastered these abilities so that I can use my long sword and have the same effects as both a broadsword and a rapier." Ruby took a deep breath before saying, "And finally, there's the rapier. It's very thin so it's unable to block most attacks and give damaging blows, but it's very swift and is better for preforming multi-attacks. Honestly, a rapier is probably the worst sword to have due to how little it offers... but, that's where we get to the next part. The wielder. A sword is only useful if put in the right hands, and likewise, can only be so useful as the master's ability lets it to be. The Greeks were wrong in that having a sword does in fact need a certain skill to understand and wield it to it's most potential. However, the Romans were wrong in that even if the master is extremely skilled, it won't get them too far unless the wielder has the power to unlock it's full ability. So that's what we've got to figure out with each person." "So for instance, you and I. You would be Greek, and I, Roman. I need to teach you the techniques, and I need to learn the physical ability. At first when you attacked me, your swing was sloppy and very wide, true as this may be, your strength made the blow critical, had it been a real sword. One of the most important parts of fighting is knowing your enemy so you can deal with it properly, as well as knowing yourself. If I'd been skilled enough, I could have ducked and avoided your wide swing and then give a fatal shot to the heart. However, I know I don't have that ability, so I blocked instead, because I knew what you could do, and I knew what I could do. So, considering this, you now know that when fighting someone, you have to analyze them as much as you can to figure out just how they're going to fight so you can handle it accordingly. But even if you know what they're going to do, lack of experience makes actually handling it harder to deal with. So come at me again... only this time, when you swing at me, use your muscle to control the blade so the swing is smaller, tighter, and even more forceful. The more you do this, the better you'll get, and eventually I wouldn't even be able to counter the attack, I could only block." If the blow were more powerful and the swing tighter, it gave her no space to dodge and counter. She knew she couldn't do that, regardless, but just because she wouldn't be able to do it didn't mean a future enemy of his wouldn't be able to. She was preparing him for anyone who might cross his path...

Musashis eyes widen as she begin to start talking about the history of sword fighting. You have got to be kidding me. He thought to himself as he slowly begin to take a seat on the ground. He knew that this was going to be a long lecture and that it was going to be important that he listened to every word of it. Musashi wasn't a big fan of school, but he had been doing a lot more work and studying as of late so it was finally tolerable again. Every time he thought that she couldn't be anymore brilliant than she already was she always manage to find a way to top it. Musashi was speechless, he was literally listening to the words of a true swordsman. He thought that she was only close to the level of intellect his father had when it came to that, but after listening to what she was saying he could see that she was equally on the same level.
Not to say that he didn't think the level of training he was going to be getting wasn't going to be that advanced, but he didn't think it would be this advanced. This only assured him that he was meant to do something great during his time here. He had already had one great master in his own father, now he was going to have another that was on the same level. Except she would be teaching him in another field of art. As he continued to listen to her lecture he begin to create images of each of the swords that she had mentioned. He wasn't an expert on any of them, but through his time of playing video games and surfing the web he had seen all kinds of swords. Not to mention the one that his father had in the back of there house. As she continued to talk he begin to visualize what kind of swordsman he wanted to be.
After she finished her lecture on the history of sword fighting she begin to critique him on the mistakes he made during his first move. She was spot on about everything she had to say about what he did, but something inside him weakened as he begin to experience the feeling of being inadequate at something. He hadn't been in this position since he was a kid so it was a weird feeling, but it was something everyone had to go through when learning something that was unfamiliar. He was sure that this was the way that Yukine felt when he was teaching him how to hone his skills in hand to hand combat. "Alright got it... I think." He'd say standing up as he grabbed his sword and got into his fighting stance. He didn't want to make a fool of himself again, but the only way to improve was by failing.
He wanted to become a better fighter, and he knew that in order to do so he had to become more versatile. This situation couldn't get any better so he had to make sure that he focused. Even though it became increasingly hard the more amazing she came off to be. He couldn't describe the feeling, but what he did know was that every time she spoke intelligently his heart rate begin to increase exponentially. Nonetheless, he would take in a deep breath, release, and then rush toward her half speed. The key was to focus on his muscles and to make sure that his swings weren't that wide. He knew perfection wasn't something that was going to be achieved during his second time, but he had to try. Once he got within range he would tilt the sword a slight angles, with both hands being on the sword, and with one quick swift moment he would aim to hit her in the hip area with as much speed, but with as less force as he possible could avoid so he couldn't hurt her if it was to hit.
( No problem xD I love seeing how much muse sword fighting gives you. And BTW I have sent you some PM's )

Ruby would get into a stance and prepare her sword to block in exactly the same way she had the time before. The only difference this time was that now she had her eye focused on his sword and the way he attacked. Of course, she'd been focused with that beforehand, but now she wanted to pay attention to take note of the slight differences he'd made within the time of her lecture. And the difference was small, but still noticeable to Ruby. After Musashi had dealt his blow and Ruby had successfully blocked yet again, she couldn't help but to grin. "Good, there you go! Just a bit more practice and you're all set for that," she said. "I would suggest that in your free time you practice that particular attack on a dummy or wooden post but use your full force, so you get used to using that amount of power in the attack." She smiled and said, "Learning the techniques are easy enough, most people fail when it comes to actually doing it. And the more you practice, the better you get. I used to spar with my brother so often that I could perform my battle techniques almost with my eyes closed, and yet, I'd be nearly flawless. So now that you know how to do it, you'll just have to practice more and more until you perfect it." She wanted him to practice using his full strength on a materialistic object rather than herself, because she knew that if he'd used his full force there was a higher chance of her actually getting hurt. "But you know, the best way to learn is to master one ability at a time. I could probably teach you another technique if you want, but I don't want to overwhelm you," she said with a giggle. "And next time I can start to show you how to read your enemy's stance to figure out how they're going to attack so you can dodge... sound good?"

Musashi's face would drop to the floor as she said that he needed to practice on some dummies during his free time practicing sword fighting. He knew that she meant well on all the advice she was giving him, but it was still a little difficult to take in the fact that he was still a newbie at something. The Hattori would lift his head back up and would carefully continue to listen to all the advice that she was giving so that he could improve. There was no time for sulking in testosterone sadness, especially not in front of the lady. He had to make sure that no matter what that he did his best to keep his cool.
"Hmmm, that makes perfect since. That way I get to actually get to using my full power on my strikes, which in turn would give me way more precision and control over my strikes, or something like that right?" He'd say shaking his head as she continued to speak. "Another technique sounds good. I want to take as much away from this as I can." Musashi really enjoyed learning the whole sword fighting thing. Even if it meant that he was a student all over again, but most importantly he got to increase the amount of time he spent with her. After he responded to her Musashi thought of something she mentioned the time that he had taken her out on a date. She said that she was interested in meeting his mother, and he had told her that he would give her the chance to do so.
The thought was perfect timing. Of course he wouldn't choose today to be that day for a various amount of reasons. Like the fact that they would both probably be pretty sweaty after all of this and she would need to go home to get cleaned up and stuff. She would be meeting his mom after all. Plus he would have to let his mother know ahead of time so she could be prepared as well. So he would make sure to bring this up to her after there day was over so that he could have another reason to see her again soon.

Ruby nodded. "Yup! Just like that. You want to keep practicing it until you can't possibly get any better at it, you know?" She smiled. Ruby was glad that he seemed to be learning so quickly! Even if it would take a lot of practice, the fact that he was able to remember what she'd said and catch on so quickly was all impressive just in itself! She nodded and said, "Alright, then. So now you know one basic attack, and that attack can be elaborated and advanced, but in order for you to do that, you'll have to develop your own technique all on your own that suits you personally." She gave an encouraging smile. For her, Ruby's main attack associated with the tight swing to hit the target was to then make a tight and powerful spin, which usually resulted in cutting the enemy in half. When she'd dodged Musashi's attack earlier and landed a blow on him, with her sword already on his abodamon, it would have been very easy for Ruby to muster her strength to create a spiral attack and spin outward, cutting Musashi in half, or nearly in half... if she'd had the power to, her sword wasn't dull, and she had actually wanted to kill Musashi, that was. Needless to say, that basic attack could be taken many places by the user, which would then create their own unique style and technique. "So before we begin on reading your enemy, tell me this... how good are you at reading your enemy's attacks, anyway? You're a good fighter, so you must already be familiar with how to see through an opponent's next attack, correct? Tell me what you know so I can work off of that," she said.

Musashi nodded his head as she begin to lecture on what he determined to be there next focus on training. Musashi liked the idea of being able to develop his own techniques. In fact, hearing all of this was giving him all kinds of crazy ideas. Like what kind of weapon he was going to use. Sure there was all the ones she named like having a long sword, broad sword, and the rapier thing, but Musashi wanted to have a different type of sword of his own. Possibly a balance between all three of them. The thought of creating his own weapon got him excited. As soon as he got home he would make sure to start doing all kinds of research on what weapon he wanted to use.
"I guess you could say that I'm pretty good at reading my opponents moves. I tend to be at my best while watching my opponent attempt there first move. Before they can even complete the full motion of there attack, depending on how fast they are I can see what they are about to do before they even get the chance to do it. However, I'm pretty sure sword fighting cant work the same way... Cant it?" He wondered what kind of response he'd get from her. He was practically a master at hand to hand fighting, but something told his despite there similarities that they was a lot of things that didn't work into the world of sword fighting.
( Sorry for the wait, I got caught up in other stuff. Wont happen again scouts honor lol

Ruby smiled at what he said. "Actually, it's very similar," she said. "There are ways to read your opponent to tell how they're going to attack before they even do it. Sometimes it's harder than others, other times... not so much. But for the most part... it's simple enough to know how you're opponent's going to attack, even if you don't know exactly how they're going to do it." Ruby gave a cheerful and rather innocent-looking smile. "In fact, sometimes, I can even tell how someone's going to attack while they're still standing, before they even take a step into the attack. Most of the times, you can tell a lot about their plan by the look in their eyes, the stance of their body, the positioning of their feet, and the grip on their sword. It's very similar to your hand-to-hand combat. I'm sure you're going to get the hang of this very quickly, since you're already experienced enough with the idea."

"Really?"
The thought that sword fighting wasn't all that different excited Musashi. After his day was over with Ruby he would practice as much as he could in the art of sword fighting. He would watch videos on Youtube because that was always helping, and would even practice on wooden dummies like she told him to. And when he felt like he got strong enough he was going to practice with her some more so she could critique him on his mistakes. Not to mention he was also going to invest heavily into probably making his own sword. He wanted something that was different, something that would make him more special than the rest.
It wasn't enough for Musashi to just be like everyone else, he was at 552 so that he could carve a path out for himself. "Man you really know your stuff.. I guess I'm really going to have to make you my sensei." He'd say to Ruby with a smile on his face. She was truly an amazing person. He knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before she finally exploded onto the scene, and with his help he was sure to make that happen. He could already see it. She was probably going to be the ultimate sword fighter in the school. All those who tried to stop her would inevitably fail.
"I dont know if your going to be busy tomorrow, but I'm having a secret meeting tomorrow for my gang. And it would mean a lot to me if you were there Ruby."

Ruby gave a small nod. She was really glad that Musashi was so enthusiastic about learning. Of course, she hadn't quite taught anyone before about the art of swordplay, her brother being the acceptation, but then again, she was typically quite afraid of people... but, of course, she had good reason to be. She grinned when he said he was truly going to have to make her his sensei, and then she paused a moment, thinking about it... she knew she'd heard that word before... somewhere... ah, yes! When she'd been talking to Steven--or rather, Steven-san--and he'd been teaching her a little bit of Japanese. Sensei meant teacher... a wicked grin would appear on her face, half because she was glad to be someone's teacher once more, and the other half because she was confident in having learned something Japanese. "Yeah, that's right!" She'd say. "And that makes you my kohai! Isn't that right, Musashi-kun?" She wasn't sure if Kun or San was the right honorific to use with Musashi, but she figured Kun would be accurate since they were, after all, like dear friends. The girl would cross her arms confidently and nod. "Yup, yup, yup," she'd say. She'd listen up to what Musashi said about his secret meeting, and she paused a moment and listened to his words... It would mean a lot to him if she came? A part of her wondered what he meant by that, but then she remembered that he wanted to become very close friends with her... and a bit of her understood, though there was still something about it she probably couldn't grasp from lack of understanding. She would nod and say, "Of course! I'd love to go!" She smiled and said, "That's what good friends do, right? I mean... you're the best friend I've ever had, and I want to be the best friend I can be for you too! And besides, this little group of yours sounds pretty good, this is the one you're going to fix the school with, right? Of course I want to be by your side for that!"
