A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

[OoC: Tagging Zoe] Jude felt that nothing could go wrong today as he climbed up the stairs of the school dormitory building. The sun glowed warmly, as if to assure Jude that his buoyant mood would persist. Reaching the topmost floor, Jude adjusted his backpack and walked down the hall. What was it now? Jude scratched his head. Ah yes, room B43. Today was a big day: Jude's official move-in day to the 552 dorms. Prior to this, he had been living in temporary housing, which was full of miscreants with little care for personal hygiene. Whoever he was, Jude's new roommate would be a marked improvement over those creatures. Who knows? Jude thought to himself. Maybe we might even hit it off and become friends. He couldn't help but smile at that. It had been a long while since he had been able to make a place feel like home. Here was his chance. The door to B43 was a thick wooden construct with a brass doorknob and a well-used buzzer. Giddy with anticipation, Jude gave it a ring. The door opened after a brief delay to reveal Jude's new roommate. His smile frozen on his face, Jude was suddenly at a loss for words.

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ Zoe had been sitting at her table looking over her laptop when the door's buzzer rang. She looked up, blinking softly before standing and closing her laptop. The girl would slip on some shorts, as only losers wore pants/shorts when alone, and move to go open the door. She was wearing an over sized long sleeved sweater and shorts. Her brown hair was somewhat messy as she adjusted her glasses. ”Er... can I help you?” she asked, tilting her head.
The room behind her was a simple dorm. It had a small kitchenette with two beds and doors that appeared to lead to a restroom and a couple of closets. The dorm was pretty much bare. Whoever this girl was, she didn't have too many things of her own.

[OoC: Zoe Imagining something like this with a bathroom and kitchen area added] It was a she. A girl. A female. Jude had certainly not expected to be paired with a roommate of the opposite sex. This school had seemed too strict for that to be allowed. "Er... can I help you?" The girl asked. She seemed to be right at home in a big sweater and shorts. Jude gulped and began to speak, "Hey...Jude. I mean, you're not Jude. I'm Jude. Hellonicetomeetyou." He stopped to breathe and continued. "I'm supposed to be moving into this room today? Not sure if there's been a mistake." Jude took another glance at the number on the door. It was definitely the right room. After looking at the room number, Jude noticed a small camera mounted on the far window, pointed right at him. It was indeed strange but it wasn't a pressing issue at the moment--that is, as long as he didn't say anything embarrassing while being recorded. Was it just him, or was it getting hot in here?

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ Zoe blinked as the boy began to stammer. She'd tilt her head to the side, cocking a brow curiously. Was he alright..? ”Eh?” she'd mumble, widening her eyes as he began to speak rapidly- not even stopping to breath. What was up with him!? Well, at least she knew his name was Jude. When he stopped to breath, Zoe cocked a brow. ”Hi Jude... Uh, I'm Zoe,” she spoke slowly, unsure if this boy was right of mind. As he continued talking, Zoe leaned on the doorway, her head tilting to the side as he said he was her roommate. The girl's eyes would widen as she mumbled softly.
”Eh? Is that right..?”
With that, she'd turn to go inside the room, waving him in. ”Come in then, I'll check to see if this is what the school ordered,” she spoke casually before moving to go sit down at her computer table. The girl would open up her laptop and begin to type at it somewhat rapidly.

[ Zoe] ”Hi Jude... Uh, I'm Zoe.” The girl's speech had slowed down significantly compared to her initial query. Fantastic. Now she thinks I'm stupid. Jude's inner self facepalmed. Thankfully, Zoe turned around to sit at her table and started to type, allowing Jude to actually facepalm a split second later. Jude recovered slightly and followed Zoe into the room, closing the door behind him. He noticed that Zoe was extremely comfortable with her laptop. It was hard not to be impressed by those quick fingers. She was probably some sort of tech enthusiast, what with the cameras and all. Besides those, there didn't seem to be many belongings in the dorm. Jude imagined that perhaps Zoe and he could go shopping for appliances, accessories, and such. He would have to round up some cash, first, though. Poor and dumb...not a great impression to make. Soon enough, Jude's wild imagination carried him into la la land, causing him to miss what Zoe would do next.

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ Zoe would look over her shoulder as the boy walked in and closed the door behind him. She'd then turn back to her computer and continue typing. Occasionally the girl would glance at him. However, then she'd notice something unsettling... Why was he just standing there staring into thin air? She'd wave a hand silently, as if trying to get his attention. If he didn't notice it from his daydreaming, Zoe would cock a brow. Oookay then... Whether he did or not, Zoe would cough into her hand and begin speaking.
”I checked it out, this is official,” she explained, pointing to the room assignments on the laptop. Stretching her arms up, Zoe yawned. ”I guess rooms were getting tight with the influx of students, you know?” she mused before closing her laptop and glancing up at Jude. ”When's your stuff supposed to get here?” she asked. Zoe didn't seem too bothered by this whole ordeal. It was as if she was use to living with boys. Or, maybe she didn't really see Jude as a boy to begin with?

[ Zoe] Oh, what a wonderful time. Imaginary Jude was having a blast setting up imaginary DIY furniture together with Imaginary Zoe. Something was in the way, though...it was blurry and moving. It was Real Zoe's hand. Jude snapped to his senses as Zoe coughed and informed him that they were indeed assigned as roommates. "When's your stuff supposed to get here?" She asked casually. Obviously Jude was going to have a much longer adjustment period to this new living situation. "Yeah, yeah definitely, sorry I spaced out. Temporary housing was packed so they must be making an exception to the rules. As for my stuff, you're looking at it." Jude plopped his backpack to the floor and gestured to it. Now that he thought about it, he probably did look like some ignorant kid off the streets. Brushing the now irksome dust off of his jacket, Jude tried to change the subject, "Anyways, just wanna let you know that I'm pretty quiet and I clean up after myself. I can help you with homework if you want--not that you need it or anything, I bet you're super smart. A-and if you like rice, I'm really good at making it...really good." Jude nodded profusely while biting his lip and looked expectantly at Zoe.

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ Zoe would lean on her computer chair, resting her arm over it as he seemed to stammer and awkwardly talk. How dense was this guy? Zoe tilted her head as she studied him, wondering exactly who was he. What kind of things could someone who looked so... pathetic do to end up at a school like this. Zoe herself certainly didn't look like someone who could cause enough trouble to be at this school- at least, not when she first arrived here. By now, Zoe was sure she probably looked like she fit right in. Of course, she couldn't be sure. After all, Zoe had no comprehension of how others viewed her. Glancing down at the bag he had he said contained all his stuff, she let out a low whistle.
”Wooow... we have to go shopping.” she hummed before turning back to her laptop as he continued to talk. ”Good...good, eh? Thanks for the offer but- yeah, smart..” Zoe would softly speak her responses as she surfed through the web. She'd stop her mumbling and distracted responses as he mentioned rice. She'd turn in her chair and look at him seriously. ”Are you for real?” she asked, looking him dead in the eye with a serious expression. Then, she'd smile brightly- happily.
”That's wonderful! Do you know how cheap rice is? If you're good at making it, that'll save us a lot of money! I personally can't make rice without burning the bottom of the pan!”

[ Zoe] Jude died a little bit inside when Zoe looked at his paltry belongings and whistled. On the bright side of things, at least she had sort of offered to go shopping. Although, Jude doubted that there would be any furniture assembly in the near future. This hypothesis was confirmed when Zoe turned back to her computer and started typing away again. Jude didn't mind that she didn't seem to be engaged in the conversation. After all, there was no way that anyone could be as happy about Jude moving in as he himself was. When Jude mentioned cooking rice, Zoe swung around, looked straight at him with a serious expression, and said, "Are you for real?" He froze. Had he said something wrong? Before Jude could apologize, Zoe suddenly broke into a smile. She said, "That's wonderful! Do you know how cheap rice is? If you're good at making it, that'll save us a lot of money! I personally can't make rice without burning the bottom of the pan!" Jude let out the breath that he had been holding in this entire time. Who knew that meeting a roommate would be such an emotional roller coaster ride? Or maybe it was Jude's inaptitude around girls that made him so nervous. In any case, Jude was happy and relieved to see the smile on Zoe's face. He laughed and responded, "I used to burn rice all the time too, but I've had lots of practice since then. It's not so hard once you get the hang of it." By 'lots of practice,' Jude meant every day for the last few years, and he knew very well how cheap rice was. He had nearly grown sick of the taste of rice, and of the taste of loneliness that came with eating each bowl on his own. Looking back at Zoe, Jude felt a glimmer of hope that his rice might one day taste sweet again. He wiped his nose with the back of his hand and continued to speak, "So, Zoe, tell me about yourself. If we're gonna be living together, you should probably tell me what you like and don't like so I can try not to get on your nerves." As he said this, Jude walked over to the vacant side of the room and plopped down on the bed.

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ Zoe would sit in her hair, her chest leaning against the back of the seat as her legs hung out the front- totally sitting in the chair backwards. She rested her chin on the back of the chair and looked up at him. As he spoke, she raised her hands, making what appeared to be groping motions before speaking. ”Aaah, every time I try to cook with an electrical appliance, things get a bit out of hand!Haha!” she snickered, grinning widely. If he was going to live with her, he might as well learn how... shocking Zoe could be. When he decided to ask her about herself, she looked up thoughtfully.
”There isn't much to know about me! I'm pretty simple,” she hummed. ”I sleep a lot, study and play on my computer. What about you?” She'd pause after speaking and laugh lightly. ”Trust me, it takes a lot to get on my nerves!”

[ Zoe] ...Out of hand? Jude had experienced bad cooking, but he wondered how exactly Zoe might have trouble cooking with electric appliances. Strangely enough, she also didn't seem to have any issues with her laptop, which had to be powered by electricity. Jude would have to ask Zoe about this strange electrical affinity (or lack of one) later on. For now, he simply said, "I don't mind cooking for two. Wouldn't want us to set off the smoke alarm or have you get electrocuted...yeesh. Hope you really do like rice, though, 'cause I'm not used to making other foods. Anyways, you might be surprised, but cooking perfect rice isn't the only thing I do all day. I sleep and study a lot, like you, but I read instead of going on the computer--partly because I don't have one." Jude grinned bashfully and placed his arms behind him to lean back slightly. A cheeky line that went something like 'You like to sleep? Me too, let's do it together sometime,' came to mind, but Jude decided that it was probably better to lay off the risque humor for now. He was already living dangerously on the line between nice new roommate and idiot with no money.

(• ◡•); I WONT FAIL TO PROTECT YOU ❝ If he looked at her laptop, he'd notice they keyboard was covered in a thin layer of colorful rubber. Was it for decoration or something more? Zoe would keep eyeing him as he spoke. If he looked more closely at the room, he'd notice a white pair of gloves next to the laptop and that her phone had a thick rubber case as well. ”I see! I dont mind you doing all the cooking!” she hummed happily. Zoe really wasn't one for cooking- even before she could barely touch the rice cooker without frying it. She also wasn't that picky about her food. Having grown up in a poor household, Zoe was happy with whatever she could get hands on. ”Hrm I see! I see!...” She'd pause, tilting her head thoughtfully as she looked him over.
”I just looked up some sales at some local shops, do you want to go shopping sometime this week?”

[ Zoe] "Shopping, huh? That sounds great. We should make a list together." Jude replied. He meant those words in earnest, but that didn't stop him from thinking about the amount of money that he had in his wallet. It must have been something like 5 or 6 dollars. Jude resigned himself to the fact that he was going to have to dig a little deeper. There wouldn't be any way to avoid getting some necessities for the dorm. Jude typically didn't care much of what people thought of him. But since Zoe was: 1. His new, hopefully long-term roommate, 2. Someone who actually seemed nice, and 3. A girl (Jude was fully aware of his sexist social impediment but knew no way to fix it), Jude sorely wanted to maintain a good impression of himself. Jude found himself staring into Zoe's brown eyes. With a brisk cough, he quickly shifted his sight to other areas around the room. Jude imagined that he was slipping away into the 'poor dumb guy who also is creepy' category when he noticed a pair of white gloves on Zoe's desk. Maybe she was a budding scientist? Magician? Michael Jackson enthusiast?

Looking over her shoulder, the girl leaned back in her chair. ”So, uh, what exactly do you think we'll need?” she asked, humming softly as she started setting up a list on her phone. She'd blink softly, frowning before putting the phone down and slipping the gloves on. Then, she'd pick up the phone again, sighing softly. Looking back over her shoulder, Zoe would tilt her head with a grin.
”And don't worry about the price, I have a pretty good paying part time job, so I can cover most of it!”

[ Zoe] Curiously, the gloves seemed to have a practical purpose, as Zoe made sure to put them on before using her phone. Perhaps she was a germophobe? Jude was fine with keeping things clean. As for dorm necessities, Jude rattled off a few things that he knew they would need, "We'll need some plates, silverware, stuff for cooking if you don't already have it. Paper towels and sponges for cleaning. And you already know, a ton of rice." Jude winked at Zoe. "What else should we get? And it's cool, I can cover my half. Didn't make it through the last few years on my own without some hustling. So where do you work?" Jude wondered if he might be able to find a job in the area. He was sure that many students relied on unlawful activities to get by, and he didn't want to have to resort to that.
