A brand new group is on the making, The Apostles, a Pillar-like group led by none other than our brand new headmaster, Gregoire Girard. A student body that would lead students and enforce the law on this little school of ours. Little is still known about this student body, but who knows? It might just be what the school needs.

A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

"if you have yet to confirm through their nose and mouth that no air is flowing through, you would do that first. next you would tilt their head back and lower their chin to check if there is anything obstructing their airway. providing that there is nothing blocking the path, the individual will need to be placed gently on their back prior to administering CPR."

“YES! YES THATS IT MY DEAR SWEET CHILD!” Dr. Straight patted Jude’s head gleefully as he answered the question. Deep inside, Jude was terrified, but his exterior only showed a weak smile. He was content with the fact that he had somehow answered correctly, and therefore avoided any punishment. As Dr. Straight continued on to explain proper emergency procedure, Jude scrawled the key words down in his notebook. He was getting on the teacher’s good side, and he was going to keep it that way.
The next question that Dr. Straight asked the class was about CPR. Jude had never learned about CPR. Although his old school had offered extracurricular training, Jude was always too busy slaving away at other kids’ homework to attend any after school activities. Besides, he had never felt that CPR was necessary to learn. Just call 911, right? Well, at 552, this was an entirely different story. Jude could already imagine a bully stuffing an apple core down some poor kid’s throat. Yes…CPR was probably more important to know at this point in Jude’s life.
Because Jude had no prior knowledge of the steps of CPR, he would let the other students in the class answer before him. Someone smart, like the bespectacled green haired girl, for example, would probably get the answer right on their first try. In the case that there were no right answers, or Dr. Straight seemed to want a guess from Jude, he would venture with, “You check their pulse, by putting two fingers to their neck?” He hoped this would suffice.

Dan wiped some sweat of his thick brow with his callused hands. ignoring a pain he felt in his jaw Dan raised his hand "Space, you need a lot of space" Said Dan vaguely but what he meant was if there were many people around you need them to step the F%$& back hopefully the teacher would infer that.
Dans hand slowly descended back onto his desk, as it hit Dan felt a bit of pain in his arm he couldn't help but make a slight grimace but he made no other indications that it hurt

Paige would sit back down after washing her face in slight anger. "Eh I guess do what ever you teach us in this class."Paige would say with her rather smart ass answer. She hated this teacher and was going to be annoying in the class if possible.

Teufel was a little disappointed that he didn't get the answer right, but not so sad to he didn't get a slap. He then tried to recollect all the little knowledge he had of CPR. Scooting to the left slightly to giving Dan the space he needed, Teufel listened to everyone else's guesses or possible answers before raising his own hand to try.
"I guess...you do what the other people said, make sure there isn't anything blocking where they breathe and check their pulse to see if they're dead or not.." He said, not really knowing what to say

Post by Kyou Kobayashi on Sept 8, 2015 10:14:45 GMT -5
Kyou raised an eyebrow as the teacher scolded him. He could've sworn that it was important to remove the bullet before actually tending to the wound in the case of being shot... but then, she was also right. They were just students and so the chances of them being successful were slim, and they were likely to make the injury worse... it probably was best that they waited for the professionals such as doctors to handle situations like that. Kyou was just glad that the teacher didn't give him a "strike" or whatever else like she had the last time he was in her class. He always seemed to mess up in her class, and though he wasn't as paranoid as he used to be before, he still would rather avoid trouble with her.
He would attentively listen to the teacher as she continued to lecture, nodding lightly at what things she'd said. It all made sense and it seemed obvious enough, but at the same time, he'd been too reckless to stop and truly assess the situation to respond in the correct sort of way. He was used to one on one situations where no one was really around anyway and there was no need for checking for your own safety, but it was clearly the first and most important rule. Perhaps if he'd just stay quiet to calm himself and truly remind himself of the things his mother had once told him. He used to be good with these kinds of things, why was he messing up so much now? That fact alone was bothering him, but he knew he was far from perfect anyway. It was better to admit your mistakes and try moving forward. That being decided, he'd at least try now to give his 100% and actually pay more attention, rather than being the dumbass everyone knew he was.
The boy would take notes of what she was saying, paying close attention to the things she was writing. The second statement seemed obvious enough, and that was something he did (thankfully) already know. Getting consent to help was also a very important thing, Kyou knew. If you tried to help someone who didn't want help, you could not only harm them, but also in a lawsuit you could have that used against you. Sometimes people didn't want a hero...
He deadpanned. Hero? Why the hell did he even...
As the next question was asked, Kyou decided o stay quiet for this one. He recalled how the teacher seemed to act when answers were repeated--"copied"--and he'd rather avoid pissing her off. It seemed that if there was ever a sweeter, nicer-looking person (typically it seemed to be a girl) who was smarter than himself, the teacher often would admire them and praise them, or just more or less leave them alone. Of course, this could also be because of what an idiot he could be, and it seemed that pissing people off was his second nature... but still, he knew Jacket was right with her response and it was thurough enough that he couldn't really give any other answer. What was the next step? Well, he already knew what to do next, but he didn't want to repeat what she'd said.
Misbehaving students got their mouths sewn shut. It was a threat she'd made in their first class that he remembered quite well. It had given him quite a bit of PTSD after the class ended, even. He certainly didn't want that, so now he was torn between two choices. Speak, or not? Jacket didn't speak earlier since she knew what the answer was, and she didn't get in trouble. There was a chance Kyou could get away with it too, though he doubted it. But if he said the same thing that Jacket did--or even rephrased it a little so as to not be "copying"--he was almost sure his punishment would be even worse. Kyou knew this particular answer, and he was even confident in his knowledge for the next step as well, but she didn't ask for what came next, now did she? No, that in itself would be a punishment.
He was torn between the choices and finally came up with a conclusion on how to respond that would, with hope, avoid him from trouble of all three courses he could have taken. He'd speak, but he wouldn't copy the answer, and he wouldn't state the next step to make it seem like he was a "know it all" who didn't need this class... or some accusation like that. "I don't know," Kyou would finally say in a hushed tone. He certainly didn't need to be saying that loudly. Call him paranoid, but he was pretty afraid of making the wrong choice or saying the wrong thing. The teacher seemed nicer than he last recalled--or perhaps his paranoia just wasn't as strong now as it was then--but he couldn't remember the facts about her that he did know, and because of that, he needed to overall keep conscious...

"Yes, good good! Check that airway if there are no signs of breathing in the person you are helping." When her other star student spoke up she beamed again, "Very good! That is another step that you must do. After checking the airway check to find a pulse. If there is no heartbeat that tells you your problem! Their heart has stopped. Or if it is highly irregular they could be going into cardiac arrest."
When Dan chimed in it was easy for Miranda to tell what he was getting at, "Yes! Very good. Having people clear away gives you room to work with and should the patient come to this helps prevent them from going into shock. If you are crowded by people in a crisis situation you may go into shock and that can worsen many conditions and lead to death."
Paige tried and gave at least some amount of an answer, "I don't know why I ever retired that dunce cap but yes technically that's right, I'll get a gold star sticker sheet in the future just for you my dear."
Teufel said something that definitely peaked an interesting conversation topic, "Oh my dear deer student," Before taking a closer look at him and approaching, "Those are fascinating by the way I'd love to operate on you to see how those are anchored sometime..." She would then continue with the important information. "If you are not a licensed doctor you can't declare someone dead. Once you start helping someone with CPR you do not stop until they wake up or you are relieved by help. They could be a for sure corpse but unless half their body is missing or they have maggots in their mouth once you start CPR you stay doing CPR until first responders come. Failure to do so once you start can lead to getting you into legal trouble so please care to deciding whether or not you are going to see this person through to the end and perhaps a little further."
When Kyou answered she gave a small nod, "I will accept that from you this time. All the answers I was looking for were right here for the taking, adding anything else would have been a waste of time. So for once 'I don't know' will be an acceptable answer young man." She pulled a screen down that had a chart graph of two bodies, male and female, nude but without detail such as a sex ed chart or other biology chart.
She pulled a pointer stick out that extended to full length before she pointed to the area over the heart that needed to be pressed in cpr. "Chest compressions are done here, the heel of one palm on the spot with the other hand's supporting it. You stand straight over the spot and push downward. These compressions you do fifteen times then two rescue breaths. You fill up with fresh oxygen, tilt the head back and pinch the nose gently, and mouth over mouth you force air into their system. Don't exhaust your entire lung span just a decent mouthful's worth because you don't want to damage their lungs, which have a reserve of air already in them at any given time."
She walked over to the pod in the back, turning on the sound of the monitor as the room would fill with the beeping of a heart monitor. She opened the pod to reveal a live patient laying on life support. She removed the breathing apparatus and switched off power to the support systems as his heartbeat began to grow irregular. "Each of you take turns, if the patient dies you all fail. Rescue breaths, chest compressions, 2 breaths for every 15 compressions. Compressions every 'mississippi' second. Count out loud to help you track."
She would watch and wait for each student to perform the task. If the patient died she could bring him back with adrenaline and other methods.

Jude wiped an imaginary (or was it?) bead of sweat from his brow. His tentative answer had passed the examination once more. At this rate, he might be able to make it through the period without suffering a terrible fate. Things were looking up. Dr. Straight explained the steps of CPR, and Jude took notes diligently as she spoke. The procedure was simpler than Jude had imagined, and he believed that he would probably be able to administer CPR in any future emergency situations.
However, Dr. Straight was apparently determined to keep throwing curveballs. Jude followed her with his gaze as she walked to the strange pod in the back of the classroom, and opened it to reveal...a live human. There was virtually a collective gasp among the students. And if this was possibly illegal, it was definitely outside the bounds of the law when Dr. Straight switched off what Jude presumed to be life support. This was unheard of. A man was going to die unless a group of high school students could save him with CPR? All Jude could process in his mind was, "Patient dies...you fail...you fail...fail." He couldn't believe that he was going to fail a class because of something as ridiculous as this.
Jude couldn't let that happen. He repeated a mantra to himself, "15 compressions, 2 breaths. 15 compressions, 2 breaths." Seeing as nobody had taken action yet, Jude would get up abruptly from his seat and scuttle over to the patient. He would repeat the words one more time for comfort, and then proceed to perform the procedure. Jude's compressions would be properly done, albeit somewhat rushed due to nervousness. He would hesitate before the breaths--mouth to mouth with anyone was not exactly natural for Jude--but would perform them properly as well. Jude would frantically continue CPR and watch for any signs of recovery. After a few cycles, Jude's pace would slow down as he regained his composure.

Teufel wouldn't even happily told the teacher how his antlers stayed on so well, but the operating part scared Teufel a lot. He had enough with surgery for a while if not lifetime. He nodded his head at the mistake he made and listened on to the other answers and her responses to each of the responses and take an ample amount of notes.
The next part caught him wway off guard. Keeping the dead living? Teufel began to freak out for several moments, trying to take in the task at hand. He grabbed his crutches and began to hobble over to the body, starting a line behind Jude and frantically waiting. When or even if Jude switched off, Teufel would hurry over to the body, pushing down on the chest with both hand and counting and breathing, trying not to pass out from the panic of the task.

Kyou was grateful that her warning at least wasn't as bad as it could have been... in fact, it was a rather pleasant warning. He would give a nod to the teacher in understanding, and he would listen to what she had to say next. It didn't seem that hard of a task to complete, but he still remembered every detail of what she'd said next. He hardly felt he needed notes, but decided to jot some down anyway in case one day he got memory loss and couldn't remember anything... or something.
However, his eyes would widen when the teacher then gave an instruction, and he stared at her. Did he hear right? The boy would glance over his shoulder to the dying person, and he'd adjust his glasses when several other students lined up to contribute. He'd sigh, despite how upsetting this was for him, and he would head over and try to help out as well when his turn came. He'd follow the instructions they'd just been given before hand without fault, and he'd do his best to make sure the guy lived unless someone else would step in line, where he would then let them take over in his place.

jacket would drop her pen when the teacher would reveal a live patient that they would have to give CPR to. if this wasn't a corporate punishment school, jacket would have argued that thy ad to legally sign a permission form to give their consent to this, but she knew better than to argue with the teachers at this school(unless the were arose).
jacket didn't have time to question anything though. she had to act fast like the other students and help save the patient's life. there wasn't even enough time for her to take her medication so her heart wouldn't race. not enough time to calm herself down from the situation.
she would get up and follow after kyou so she could take over after he was too tired. she would continue with the chest compressions, even though she was physically weak and had to put her whole body weight into the compressions to be as effective as everyone else in the class. she would press air into his lungs twice, then continue with the compressions while counting out loud. she wouldn't stop, not until either someone came to take her place, or the teacher stopped her. after all, she wasn't allowed to stop. not with someone's life on the line.

They all had performed admirably for those who did actually participate. She noticed once these four were done that no one else was going to step up. "Very good, please find your seats. Now." She would of course leave the patient with no life support to lay there. "As of this morning the patients medical proxy has signed a DNR and has ordered the hospital to take them off of life support for this. As the patient has consented to his body being used for science, naturally he was the one I brought to this school. I wouldn't put a patient who here who had a risk of dying without that being the intent of course."
She turned and looked at her TA who sat nervously at the front of the class on the stool. His instructions had been clear. "That is to say, I wouldn't do that to any of my actual patients from the hospital."
She grinned and gave the boy a small wink before heading to the front of the class. "The man at the back of the classroom has been brain dead for quite some time I'm afraid. A cadaver with biological functions but his quality of life has been flatlined. Were I able to conduct experiments I might be able to bring him back but I am legally bound by his DNR. So please ignore our former patient and focus on what's next."
She'd point to the board to an area of the stomach on each body on the pull down poster with her metal pointer. "Can anybody tell me about the Heimlich maneuver?"

"...I wouldn't put a patient who here who had a risk of dying without that being the intent of course." Jude did a double take. This Dr. Straight was borderline insane. Here he was, worrying about his grade being on the line because of this dying/dead person, and it turned out that he was literally scheduled to die. It was cruel in more ways than one. Dr. Straight also made a passing mention that she'd be able to bring the patient back to life, though. Jude wasn't too intent on verifying this claim.
Then, as if nothing unusual had happened, Dr. Straight pointed to the stomach on the anatomical diagram and asked, "Can anybody tell me about the Heimlich maneuver?" The way things were going, Jude wouldn't be surprised if she stuffed a candy into some poor kid's throat to make them choke. Maybe if someone answered the question correctly, it wouldn't have to come to that. Jude raised his hand and would answer if called on, "It's a method to help someone who's choking. Something along the lines of holding them from behind and forcing the foreign object out through one quick press to the diaphragm with the hands?"

Teufel sighed with relief when they were called back to their seats, still jittery with the adrenaline pumping throughout his system. "That just happened..." He whispered, smiling in disbelief. Then dr. Miranda's explanation didn't help either. The patient was already dead.... Teufel hobbled back to his chair weakly. His heart raced at fast pace, with the lub dub sound rumbling through his head as he looked at the front and towards the board when the Heinrich maneuver was asked. Raising his hand shakily he tried to answer, as a way to try and calm his heart down.
"Is the Heinrich maneuver trying to remove something lodged in someone's throat?" He asked, not knowing what it really was, and imagining someone reaching into someone's throat to remove the object.

Kyou was glad to know that in the least they didn't fail. He would take his seat again before the teacher started to explain some things, and he stared at her in disbelief. Oh, of course he knew she was right that it was legal if they had her consent and all the lovely lawful stuff, but it still seemed somewhat messed up to him. Why couldn't they have just used a human replica? Like a machine or dummy of some sort...
He would give a light sigh, reminding himself of just where it was. Sure, the teacher seemed upbeat enough, but he was pretty sure she was a psychopath of some sort. She was probably just high on anti-depressants to keep a cheerful demeanor despite having a love to do sick experiments... she'd already mentioned of wishing to do such things with a student or two, and it bothered him a bit. There surely wasn't any sanity in there... he was pretty sure she was one of the most dangerous teachers in the school, but he could always be wrong. He knew there was a chance that she just truly liked science and experiments and, despite seeming like a nut case, she did things legally and with consent. He really doubted this, but he knew the possibility was always there.
However, it could not deny him the fact that she had asked a question. He had a feeling the smart green-haired student wasn't going to speak up, or perhaps she was giving the others a chance to say something... but regardless, he felt he should probably say something unlike the last time. "The Heimlich Maneuver is an action one can do to someone who is choking, giving abdominal thrusts--typically to their diaphragm or 'belly button' area. Depending on the situation, one can preform these tasks in certain ways. Typically you would go behind the person for this procedure, but for a small child, infant, or person on the ground, there's different ways to do it--which I'm sure you'll go over. Also, likewise to preforming CPR, you need to ask them for permission to help--and typically asking them if they can't breathe or something of the like is important too, to make sure that they are actually needing help and you're not just assuming things." He would take out his pen again and prepare to take any notes when the teacher talked, since he assumed she would. He knew well enough of this situation, but again, he was the type to take notes. He was constantly writing things down in his notebooks and journals, so it was no wonder.
