A brand new group is on the making, The Apostles, a Pillar-like group led by none other than our brand new headmaster, Gregoire Girard. A student body that would lead students and enforce the law on this little school of ours. Little is still known about this student body, but who knows? It might just be what the school needs.

A lunch box is seen last Friday, around 12:37:08pm with an encouraging note packed inside. This appalling display that utterly lacked manliness has left many students stunned and outrage, as some decided, after a long while, to speak out against it.

[OOC: ❤️ Jude Liang Dan Cedric Kenelm Paige Weaver @teufel Akina 'Dusk' Aihara Kyou Kobayashi are all able to join this thread. Akina may join when they are approved, if you don't make it first round you can still join the second or third round but you will be marked late. I will be posting every 24-48 hours to move on rounds of this thread. Please, post only once per round. Post order will not matter but do not post more than once per round. If your character is asking a question assume Miranda calls on you to ask it, and please be mindful of the details in my posts as I will try to accurately describe the setting so as not to have any confusion or inconsistencies. Miranda entered the room filled with clutter. The blinds over the windows were shut with only half the lights turned on. The other half were flickering slightly until she went over and jiggled the light switch back and forth. Something was sucking up power in this classroom, and she knew what it was. In the corner of the back of the class there was a large pod of sorts with machinery hooked up to it, brought in from Miranda's hospital. Miranda grinned and wondered how students might handle this. Another student sat nearby her at her desk, Timothy Finwell, a rather short freshman boy with a nervous disorder. He was promised plenty of money and personal protection from bullying via Miranda as well as a prescription for medication for his condition upon his volunteering to TA her class. (OOC: I will control Timothy) The very nervous looking boy looked back and forth as she wrote her name and the subject on the board, her body free from bandages today as she wore her coat. The classroom had tables, two chairs to a table, and 6 tables in all. Students could sit by themselves if they really wanted to or they could pair up with a partner. Miranda didn't care either way. She would remain silent and nod to each student who entered, but once the bell rang she would begin. "Welcome to First Aid, CPR, and AED. In this class you will be taught, and tested, on how to perform basic first aid, CPR, and you guessed it, how to operate an AED. Which, spoiler alert, it literally talks you through the process. If you can't do that, I'm going to be disappointed in humanity. Now, before we begin. Is there anyone here who has particular trouble getting a lungful of air? Oh and why don't I have a few volunteers raise their hand and explain what one of these three things actually is. If you talk about all three, you'll get marked down for showboating."

Lights flickered on and off inside the classroom that Jude was preparing to enter. He wouldn't be surprised if the state had stopped paying the electric bills, as hardly anyone cared about the collection of juvenile delinquents at this school. Jude took a deep breath, then stepped into the classroom. He hoped that he would be able to learn something useful from this first aid class despite the probable distractions, like the faulty lights.
Jude noticed a few particularities as he walked in. When he thought about them all at once, it gave him slight chills. These details were: the antsy looking boy sitting at the teacher's desk, the shut blinds, the strange machine at the back of the classroom, and the teacher herself. Dr. Miranda Straight was her name, according to the chalkboard. She seemed normal enough, but her eyes gave off a strange reflection. Jude would give Dr. Straight and this class the benefit of the doubt. He sat down at a table close to the door, listened quietly to Dr. Straight's intro, and refrained from raising his hand at the moment.

Dan was standing next to door that lead to the poorly lit room, he seemed to be in a bit of pain. For some reason Dan had a splitting headache, it was quite strange it seemed to only act up when he was near this room quite ominous.
After a bit of pumping himself up for a little while Dan walked into the flickering room, good thing Dan is not prone to seizures. upon entry Dan headache multiplied and he saw a vision... "Green" Dan mumbled as he held a hand over his mouth. after a few seconds Dan nodded back to the teacher that had nodded at him when he entered and lumbered to a desk, far right second row, and sat down.

Paige had shown up to class early and was fast asleep at one of the tables. She had a ruff day and well was just plan tired and didn't care to much about this class to begin with. When the teacher spoke Paige's eyes would flicker open and look at her for a few moments did Paige know anything about this subject fuck no that's why she was taking the class after all.

Teufel hobbled into the room, being extra careful of the two antlers a top his head, along with his crutches, heavily bandaged legs, and leg braces. He had received those specific injuries from...falling off a building (see the fear sentinal and conclusion event for reference) Minus the antlers, those had always been there. The legs had stopped their normal functioning, and Teufel was paralyzed from the waist down now. He hobbled over to a chair next to a certain tall muscle bound bara buddy was and managed to sit down next to him. "Hello Dan!" He whispered excitedly, the whispering because of the flickering room and just to fit the scene.
When class started Teufel looked up at the front, and raised to hand to attempt to answer a question.
"Er....is CPR manually forcing oxygen into a person's body when their heart stops to try and restart it?" He asked if he was called upon

Victim of my own good intentions ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ | jacket would take her seat at the front of the classroom. she would look around, wondering why the room was so dark. she hasn't been in this room before, so she supposed that it was just faulty wiring.
she would smile and do a small wave at dan, the only other person she knew in the classroom. whether or not he responded, she would dig through her backpack to pull out a notepad and pen, so she could take notes of the class. she had done plenty of research on this on her own, so all that was left was to get certified.
when the teacher spoke, she would raise her hand and wait to be called on. truthfully, she could easily answer all of the questions, but she didn't want to get on the teacher's bad side by seeming like an over achiever...

Cedric with a fair bit of noise entered the poorly lit room with a loud yawn midway through someones explanation of something he wasn't really sure what, but he could assume it was CPR or some shit like that. After pausing for a moment he smiled slightly giving the teacher a small wave and plopped down in the spot next to Paige with another huge yawn.

(OOC: For those who missed round one, you may join this round but you will be late. The next round will mark the cutoff where you will no longer be allowed to join.) The first student entered, sitting close to the door. Miranda gave a small nod, the student however didn't seem to be one of the vocal ones. Another joined after having a small bout and uttering a single word. Miranda made a note that if his symptoms kept up that she should treat him. From his body language the student was experiencing discomfort and perhaps nausea given the hand over the mouth. Nausea would not be tolerated in this class. She walked over to the light switch and flipped it to off so that only half the lights were on, and no more flashing would happen.
A girl seemed to think this was nap time, and Miranda grabbed a small capsule from the schools outdated first aid kit. The old archaic practices were definitely interesting. She would slowly make her way to the girl's table, listening to the answers given by Teufel and Jacket respectively.
"Correct, for those of you paying attention CPR is a way of manually pumping blood and attempting to get the person to breathe on their own. The pumping of blood is necessary until they can breathe on their own. An AED is used to assist with this process. While our school is not equipped with them, many new schools are being built with them nearby with teacher access. This of course leaves first aid, which is pretty simple."
She held the small capsule up in the air before lowering it in front of Paige's face and breaking it open. The smelting salt would flood Paige's nostrils with the strong scent of ammonia, a chemical that smelled strongly like cat urine (as ammonia was a very strong presence in cat urine; side note: never clean cat urine with bleach as you will accidentally gas yourself). The chemical compound should snap her to. It would be strong enough that Cedric would be alerted by the smell as well, and everyone in the class would at least get a whiff of the compound.
"Please remain conscious you are learning to save lives."
She drop the capsule on Paige's desk, "Throw away the trash on your desk please. Wash your face with some cool water in the sink along the wall and return to your seat fresh and ready to pay attention. Now, First Aid is used as a measure to help people until first responders can show up. So, let's say you're trained in first aid, you can perform the Heimlich maneuver, you can perform CPR, you have experience using an AED, what should be the first thing you look for when you arrive to an emergency situation? Say someone's been shot, someone's fallen for mysterious reasons, someone is bleeding or injured and screaming for help. What should be the first thing you do? What first step should you as a human being take?"
She walked up to the board. "First person who guesses it right gets a candy. If you elect not to guess you will receive a slap to the face to wake you up to what is happening around you as I am out of smelting salts."

As the smell hit Paiges noise she would freak out and begin to flail for a moment "What the hell man I was awake!"Paige would yell as she began to cough badly and sent a death glare at her new most hated teacher "How would I know man thats why I'm taking this class!"Paige would yell in anger as she got up still coughing and heading over to the sink to wash her face in hopes of at least making the smell go away.

Post by Kyou Kobayashi on Sept 1, 2015 7:02:07 GMT -5
Trouble. Yup. That seemed to be the one thing Kyou was best at. Not that he tried to, of course, in fact, he tried to be a good student, but that never seemed to happen. A part of him wondered if perhaps he was really just an imbecile delinquent like everyone seemed to suggest...
He'd hate to admit it, but he was really wondering if it was true. He'd be running late and knew which class it was that he was going to have to attend next, so he knew once he was late, he was late, there was no trying to kiss up to the teacher and look good about it. One second late verses one hour late didn't seem to matter to most teachers here... at least, none of the teachers he seemed to have. "Dammit, why couldn't I be on time? I had to get into that stupid fight and I couldn't avoid it. No, no one listens to words anymore," he'd think, tossing his books into his locker and slamming it shut. The boy would take his backpack and make his way quickly down some halls, heading to his classroom and hoping for the best.
Giving an excuse and making a fuss certainly wasn't the way to go, and he'd had this teacher before, so he knew drawing attention to himself was the last thing in the world he should do. Of course, he knew that probably wouldn't happen, but he'd sure as hell try. The boy would gently open the door and slip inside nearly silently, padding his way over to an empty place and sitting down without paying any notice to who was even around him. Well, he recognized a few faces, but there was no one he knew formally. Still, he tried his best to focus on the class and what the teacher was saying to make up for his tardiness.
"...What should be the first thing you look for when you arrive to an emergency situation? Say someone's been shot, someone's fallen for mysterious reasons, someone is bleeding or injured and screaming for help. What should be the first thing you do? What first step should you as a human being take?" That's all he heard. A part of him wished he'd come in earlier, but his mother was, after all, a nurse, and he'd learned a thing or two when he was a kid, so he hoped he didn't miss anything he didn't already know. But still, he knew it wasn't an excuse.
The boy would look around and see a few people give blunt and simple answers. They weren't wrong though. Yes, you're supposed to call an ambulance, but Kyou remembered many situations when he'd been unable to get help from the police and had to take matters into his own hands. He'd even recalled being shot before, though it had been in the arm and no vital organs were hit... still, he very well could have died from blood loss. The boy raised his hand slowly, really not wanting to get into trouble for speaking up, and asked, "Yeah, calling 991 is the first step, but then don't you also have to stop the wound from bleeding by cutting off circulation and then try cleaning the wound and remove the bullet? Uh... if they were shot, anyway... if not, then I suppose you try to take what ever other procedures that we're going to learn in this class..."
Nope. He was pretty sure he screwed that up, so the boy shut up quickly. He had a feeling talking a lot would be the equivalent of "showing off" and didn't want to give that impression or do that in any way, so he'd be quiet for now. Still, a part of him felt like he was going to get slapped for giving the wrong answer... or something. He didn't know everything about how to help out in a dire situation, but he knew a lot and what he did know had helped him in life greatly. And though he gave a basic answer so he didn't seem like he actually knew of the topic as well as he did, he wanted to make sure other students got a chance to speak up and say things before the teacher continued on with the lesson. Besides, he wanted the teacher to enlighten them, not him. It wasn't his job. He wasn't a teacher in any form or level...

Teufel flinched when the capsule came flying at Paige and caught a whiff of the capsule, and felt a little nauseous, but that passed within a few moments. Seeing that this teacher isn't goin' to take no shit from the class, Teufel nervously sat up straighter and looked up. At the next question he tilted his head, making sure his antlers didn't unbalance him causing him to fall over, that would be embarrassing.
"Do you.. Um... Go over to the person and see what's wrong first? Then try and help them to the best of your extent before calling 911?" He asked

Jude listened to the answers that two other students gave to Dr. Straight's questions, but he didn't turn around to look at what was going on when Dr. Straight walked past his desk. The air suddenly carried a highly unpleasant scent of urine. Jude wrinkled his nose and was about to ask about it, but then the smell faded. Judging from the commotion coming from the girl behind him, Dr. Straight must have used the smell to get the girl's attention. This teacher was indeed no-nonsense. For once, Jude was determined to pay attention and stay wide awake.
Dr. Straight's next question was a bit more open ended than the first. Jude would listen to the other students' answers, raising his own hand after half of them had answered. Calling 911 was too obvious of an answer; so was applying first aid. But what else was there? If called upon, and only then, Jude would speak up, "You should look around and see if the situation is still dangerous. No point in trying to help someone if you end up getting hurt instead...If it's safe, you can go check if the person is conscious, call 911 and all that." Jude thought his answer was somewhat simple, but it was the only thing he could think of that hadn't already been said. Hopefully this would be enough to prevent the teacher from opening a can of cat pee onto his desk.

Victim of my own good intentions ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎ | jacket would sit there quietly as the teacher used smelling salts to wake up the sleepy student. she would straighten her posture slightly, making sure she looked attentive to the lecture. this teacher definitely had a no-nonsense vibe to her, and jacket would adjust herself accordingly.
there were lots of answers floating around the room, so she would keep quiet to allow the other students to earn the reward the teacher was offering. she would scratch the question on her notepad, waiting for the correct answer to write down. though she was pretty sure she knew the answer anyways.

"Not awake enough. And guess! Guess silly girl before I have to slap you, I'd rather not make you my whipping child in this class," She moved onto the next person. "Calling 9-1-1 excellent idea but no, not quite!" Miranda wanted to slap the next child who spoke on principle but he had guessed and that was far better than the girl who had been washing herself. "NO! Never pull something out of someone if you do that you'll likely kill them and be held liable. You missed several crucial steps, minus ten points from hufflepuff or whatever pop culture reference will make you listen to me more." She was like a scavenger now looking for some shred of intellect in the room. She had thoughts and ideas about who might show some know-how but the truth was they were failing her so far. She had to teach them so that they didn't kill anyone. "Again, child with horns answers the same answer and gets close but misses the mark there is a very crucial step before you call 9-1-1 or do anything else!"And then it was as if a golden light shined upon her and she wanted to kiss the child but instead walked over and patted him on the head in gratitude, "YES! YES THATS IT MY DEAR SWEET CHILD! You look around and you see if the area is still dangerous. If someone gets hurt they could have been attacked, shot, there could be falling debris. You put your safety first because if you die then who is going to give these people first aid? Assess the situation is step one!"She walked back to the board and wrote '1. Protect Yourself' "You are not legally obliged to put yourself in danger so assess the situation and don't put yourself in the way of harm okay? If it is too dangerous call 9-1-1 the first responders can better handle danger, especially firemen who typically arrive on the scene before anyone else can get there."She went on and wrote '2. Assess Situation' "There are times when calling 9-1-1 is necessary and times where it can do more harm than good. If someone is mostly fine they can avoid costly ambulance trips. But that takes time to figure it out. A good rule of thumb is if they are unconscious call right away."She turned and looked at everyone. "Listen closely to this next part. You must get consent before helping someone. This is informed by giving your full name, explaining that you are first aid certified once you are, and asking permission. If a person is unconscious and requires medical attention consent is forfeit for giving them first aid. The second they become conscious you must stop and ask them for consent to continue."She then would give her next question, "Now then, you come across someone who is unconscious. The area is determined safe and a bystander has called 9-1-1 for you, but upon looking at the person you determine that they are not breathing. You double check by putting your ear down and listening and watching their chest. It doesn't rise, air doesn't flow. Tell me what steps you need to take before performing CPR. Once again, please please guess! I don't expect you to know but I like hearing guesses and learning who has background knowledge!"Tag: ❤️ Kyou Kobayashi @teufel Cedric Kenelm Jude Liang Dan Paige Weaver
